Chapter 114
Chapter 114 couldn't
Queenie rushed over to Madison and hugged her. "Do you know how much you scared me? After you entered the shrine, hear any sounds from inside at all. After night fell, I had my bodyguards try and break the doors down, but nobody could get them open." She let go of Madison to look her up and down. "You're okay, right? Why couldn't we hear anything after you went in."
"I'm fine.
Madison stepped aside. "I've found the place where your horoscope were enshrined. You'll have to go and get them back on your own now.
Queenie quickly rushed into the shrine at her words.
She turned on the flashlight on her phone. Following Madison's instructions, she found her horoscope in a white jar under the altar. Upon unfolding the paper slip, she noticed it was the same horoscope she had written down on it before.
She hugged the slip to her chest tightly. "I'm definitely not going to participate in random rituals anymore." Nate walked in at that moment. He looked anxiously toward Madison.
Madison pointed toward a black jar. "Your horoscope is in there."
Nate went to retrieve his. Not a second after he touched it, the entire slip burned to ashes in his hands.
Stunned, he glanced at Madison. "Ms. Locke, what....."
"Your thread of destiny has been completely severed," she explained. "The ghost shrine has fully devoured the destined marriage your good karma afforded you."
Nate's heart tightened in his chest. "My thread of destiny being severed means..."
"A new thread of destiny has unraveled for you. You're now destined for another."
Nate said nothing. His face turned pale in an instant. His lips trembled as he slumped down, his heart aching
After a moment, he frowned. With one hand pressed tightly to his chest, he asked, "Can it be restored? I don't care what price I have to pay as long as I can restore the thread of destiny between me and Estelle. Ms. Locke, can it be restored?" Madison looked at the heartbroken man and shook her head. "I tried to divine it. Your new thread of destiny is very strong, and your new destined marriage will be an incredibly happy one."
Nate stepped forward and grasped Madison's lands. "Didn't you say it was a destined marriage? If it's predestined, then how can its thread be severed? Why
H
"A destined marriage is an opportunity given by the heavens, a chance for two people to meet and fall in love," Madison explained patiently
"But if one party wholeheartedly wishes to break off their relationship, then the heavens won't force it either. After all, a destined marriage is meant to help people find happiness, not suffering" Nate fell silent.
Slowly, he lowered his hands. He stared at the pile of ashes on the ground.
Queenie looked on sympathetically, hugging her horoscope even more tightly.
Then, the glanced over at the 40-no, 50-odd jars littering the ground
"Do these jars all contain horoscopes?"
Madison gazed at the jars. "Some enshrined their own horoscopes, while some enshrined others'.'
Queenie retreated a step, then raised her phone to observe the statue erected at the center of the shrine.
When she came here before, the statue looked benevolent. Its beard had been so long it reached the ground, and there had been a strange looking staff in its hands.
Queenie let out a quiet shriek and frantically hid behind Madison.

Then, she raised her flashlight and looked carefully at the statue again
She was only realizing now that the statue wore a sinister smile. The staff in its hands was actually the bodies of a man and a woman, one above and one below, while the hand holding the "staff" was positioned right between the two. The hand was splitting a loving couple apart.
But the most unsettling thing was still the smile on the statue's face.
Its lips were pulled back almost as high as its ears and its teeth seemed to gleam a bloody red under the light.
