At 8:00 am, a black sedan pulled up outside the small courtyard. Tanya and Rebecca got out of the car.

Rebecca nervously clutched Tanya's arm. "Mom, do you think Maddie will really agree?".

Tanya gave her a reassuring pat. "You saw Maddie's livestream yesterday, right? She's heading to the ghost shrine anyway, so what's the big deal about helping you?"

Just then, a white sports car arrived. Tanya and Rebecca exchanged worried glances at the sight of it.

The car door opened, and Queenie stepped out. She glanced at Tanya and Rebecca, giving a brief nod. "Mrs. Locke. Ignoring Rebecca, she walked past them and rang the doorbell. A woman's voice called from inside, "Coming, coming! Don't rush me!"

The door swung open. Queenie stepped inside, then paused to look around. However, she found the place empty. There wasn't a single person in sight.

She wondered who the voice she had heard earlier belonged to and who had actually opened the door.

Queenie shivered instinctively, and she began scanning the room nervously.

In the living room, Mia and Yara were sprawled on the couch, watching Queenie's pale face.

Yara whispered, "Did I scare her?"

Mia replied, "Definitely!"

Queenie stepped into the living room, which was empty except for the TV playing Tom and Jerry. Even though it was a light-hearted show, Queenie felt a chill run through her.

Her mind was filled with frightening movie scenes.

Just as she was panicking, Madison came down the stairs.

Queenie let out a sigh of relief when she saw her. "Madison, I need to talk to you." She took a couple of steps toward her but noticed Madison staring at the couch, as if listening to someone.

She paused and followed Madison's gaze but found nothing there.

"What are you looking at?" Queenie asked.

Madison pulled her gaze away. "Nothing"

She walked down the stairs and headed toward the kitchen, with Queenie following closely behind.

"Madison, I want to thank you. I also need to ask for a favor," she said.

"If it weren't for your warning, I might have ended up marrying that jerk."

Although it was embarrassing to have a scandal on her engagement night, it was still better than finding out Kevin's true colors after marriage. As Madison flipped and seasoned the omelet in the pan, a delicious aroma filled the air. "It's not because I warned you. You were just lucky."

"Madison said.

"Anyway, I want to thank you." Queenie pulled a check from her bag and set it down beside Madison. "This is a check for a million dollars. I know you don't need the money, but it's my way of showing gratitude. You have to take it. If you don't..." Before she could finish, Madison had already taken the check and tucked it away.

Queenie was surprised by how different Madison was. She had always assumed that enlightened ones like her wouldn't care about such things.

"Maybe I'm just not enlightened enough," Madison said with a smile.

Madison carried the omelet, toast, and milk to the dining room. Just then, Tanya and Rebecca entered. Upon seeing Madison, Tanya quickly said, "Maddie, since you're going to the ghost shrine, can't you help Becky just this once?" Rebecca pleaded, "Please, Maddie! I'll do anything you ask. I'll even kneel!"

Just as she was about to kneel, Tanya grabbed her arm and said, "Hold on! Maddle would never ask you to do that. You're sisters, so, of course, she'll help you. Siblings should always support each other."

Rebecca leaned into Tanya's embrace. "Thank you, Mom."

Queenie blinked in disbelief at the sight of them hugging. Then, she glanced at Madison, who hadn't said a word.

Queenie couldn't help but admire Madison for staying so calm while having breakfast amid all this drama. If it were her, she would've confronted them right away. It was hard to believe that Rebecca and Tanya could treat Madison this way. After all, Rebecca wasn't the true daughter of the Locke family-Madison was.

"Mrs. Locke, Madison hasn't said a word, and yet you've already decided everything for her?" Queenie scoffed. "Even I know that if you're asking for help, you should act a little humble."

She shot them a cold look. "You two act like Madison owes you something, as if her help is guaranteed. That takes some nerve."

When Queenie was Rebecca's best friend, Tanya treated her like family. Now that Rebecca and Queenie had fallen out, Tanya seemed less fond of her.

Despite her high-society background, Queenie had no class at all.

"Maddie and Becky are sisters. How can you say it's a favor for them to help each other out?"

Queenie sneered, "Sisters? If Madison were truly her sister, would she have been expelled from the Locke family? You cast out your own daughter and dote on this fake one like she's precious. Anyone who ends up as your daughter has terrible luck." Special Halloween Treat More Coins, More Thrills
