The Forgotten Luna (Adessa)

Chapter 67

LADESSA.

My mind was flying the whole time I was on Kael's back. If he were not with me, I would think I was hallucinating, that all of this danger around me has resulted in my head going crazy.

But I knew everything was real. I felt it in my hands. I saw it with my eyes. And I heard Kael confirm it.

I healed him, but I had no idea how it was possible.

Kael opened the car's passenger door and let me in before throwing his duffel bag at the back seat. We stopped to pick it up when we passed by the area where I left it, and he was able to change into his clothes after he shifted back into his human. "I don't know what I did there," I told him the moment he started driving.

"Have you done it before? Am I aware that you could heal before I lose my memory?" He asked without looking at me, concentrating on navigating around bushes and trees.

"No. I have never done it before. This is the first time."

"So I was the first one you healed." He said, and a smile cracked on his face, which made me furrow my brows in confusion.

"Are you not worried?" I asked.

"Yes and no."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"I'm glad that you saved me. But I'm worried that that power will lead you to more danger."

"I hope not. I can't even get away from this danger yet."

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought you here. I just thought Erika was a safe place."

"I believed she was, but not Sasha," I told him.

"I should have known better. I should have..."

"Can we stop talking about her for a moment?" I cut him off. "There's nothing we can do about what she did. And I don't want you to blame yourself. It was her, not you." "Right. No more Sasha." He let out a sigh. "No one should know that you healed me."

I didn't reply and just looked out the window. We drove in silence until I couldn't hold my curiosity anymore. "Do you still feel pain, or is it gone?"

"Totally gone. Even the pain of hitting my back when I was thrown off was gone. I felt refreshed and renewed."

"I've been trying to order my hands to warm or produce that smoke I saw earlier, but nothing is happening," I admitted as I stared at my hands.

Wolf Shifters never had any gifts aside from their strength and heightened senses when in wolf form. So, it was impossible that the power to heal came from me. "If I'm right, you might be a Fire Wolf."

"A what? I don't even have a wolf."

Kael didn't reply, but his forehead was creasing.

"Kael? What is a Fire Wolf?"

"I have never met one, as not everyone knows who and where they are. But they did teach us in the Alpha Academy about the Four Wolves of the Lunar World."

I swallowed. I'd heard of them but thought they were only myths, as no one talked openly about them.

"The Earth, Air, Water, and Fire Wolves. There's only one of each in a lifetime. Once the Lunar Wolf dies, it is passed on to a new one."

"The Lunar Wolves are a myth."

"Says who?"

"I can be a witch. It's easier to explain that."

"You're a wolf, Adessa. Even if one of your parents fucked with a witch, you will never be a crossbreed. The law of nature doesn't allow that. It's either you're a wolf or a witch." "Maybe I'm a witch. This explains why I don't possess a wolf."

"Witches cannot heal without their

potions and incantations. I never heard you say anything or use

anything to heal me. The healing

power came from within you." met

paused for a while before continuing. "And besides, you smell differently if you're a witch. You're a wolf. An Omega Wolf."

"Precisely. An Omega. How could a powerful Lunar Wolf come out of an Omega like me?"

"I don't have answers."

"Don't make me bigger than I am. Maybe it wasn't me. Maybe someone was watching us heal you and made it seem like I did it."

"It's you, Adessa. The power I felt came from you, not anywhere around us."

I shook my head. "It's impossible. All my life, I have nothing. I am nothing. Nonexistence for everyone around me. I am only seen now because I married you."

"Then maybe it's me?"

"What?" I tilted my head to look at him, not really understanding his words. "What do you mean it's you?"

"You said you were seen because of me. What if you got that power push out of you because of me again? Because I was in danger?"

"Who am I? Guardian of the Alpha?" I forced a chuckle, but my heart was beginning to drum loudly.

"My mate..." He said without batting an eyelash.

My eyes widened as I swallowed and sank onto my seat, not knowing how to respond.

I'd wished for that badly while I was married to him-for my wolf to surface and let me be identified as his mate. But it was a long shot from reality. I am an Omega, and he is an Alpha.

A strong blood will never be tied to a weak one. That was why I was frowned upon when he married me. I never belonged to his class.

But what if? But what if he was right? What if I had power within me? Would it be possible then for me to be fated with him?

Wake up, Adessa. Fated mates are a rarity. I shook my head as I reminded myself of these words.

I shouldn't be asking for more. It was enough that Kael was protecting me.

"What does that shaking of your head mean? Don't you want to be fated to me?" He asked, his forehead creased.

I was still thinking what to say when a phone ringing ripped through the air. My eyes met with Kael's, and without speaking to each other, we both moved to find the phone.

He opened the car lights while I fumbled around to find where the sound was coming from. I eventually located it in the space between our seats.

"Oh, Goddess..." I murmured as we stared at the screen of the phone in my hand.

Alpha Draco was calling.

"What the fuck? Did Sasha call Draco and not the police?" He growled. "No wonder they aim to kill me but not you."

He took the phone in my hand before motioning for me to remain quiet.

He answered and put it on speaker mode.

"Did you get them?" As soon as the line connected, Draco's voice rang out.

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop sending your people to death?" Kael answered with a voice full of animosity.

I heard a low growl from the other line. "How many fucking lives do you have?"

Kael laughed maniacally as if earlier

he was not pissed off. He surely knew how to mock Draco back. "I
