Chapter THE VISIONS
Sam's POV
I don’t think one needs to be religious to believe in miracles. I’m not religious, not at all, but I do believe in a superior power, and miracles. How else would you explain these unbelievable events.
After the Tsunami, I thought, I lost everything. Friends, relatives, Jaci and...Mom. Yes, I kept it from Jaci that, I too lost my mom on that unfortunate day. I lost all the hope to live, when everything that were very close to my heart were gone in just mere seconds. I was planning to kill myself too because, I was not brave enough to live alone. Then suddenly, I had a dream. It was Mom, and she told me that I have to live because Jaci needs me. She's still alive and I have to find her.
That was the only boost I needed to join the search party to find the love of my life. I wasn't hopeless anymore, because someone powerful was guiding me towards her. What purpose I need to serve, I'm not sure but, I would give anything to stay beside Jaci. She is only family I am left with. It's been only 3 days, since I'm here and I realized one thing. Jaci has changed. And even if it's the bitter truth, I have accepted the fact that, she's not mine anymore. Not as lover at least. Jaci is in denial but I know she has very strong feelings for that caveman.
She has that look in her eyes, that only resemblance love or...Lust, something I always wanted to see in her eyes for me but, I guess, she considers me more of a friend, than a lover. But, I promised to myself and her that, her choices will never keep me away from her. I will always be there for her. As a friend or as a lover, no matter the circumstances.
Jaci was always a social person. She liked to meet new people, make friends and help people in need. I think her fate was preparing her all along to become a part of this tribe. Someone knew up there, she belong here. I was too jealous of Aku, when I first arrived here, but being in love myself, I can understand, how he feels about Jaci. The way he looks at her, like she's the air, he's breathing and without her, he would die. I know where he's coming from. I still can't forget the way, he went crazy, when Jaci passed out yesterday. I would have reacted the same way, if he was not there... Between us.
But, I'm not going to act like a dick about it because, someone else cares for my girl just like I do. I think it's time I make up with my...What's the word again,...Rival? No...Umn?...My best friend's future husband. Yes, that's right. Since Jaci is out, Aku didn't leave her side, neither did I but, I know it's hard to believe, I hardly saw him move from his position for more than 2 sec. Unbelievable right? Yeah. He really cares for her, I would give him that.
“Uh hum” I cleared my throat to bring his attention towards me. He did tiredly. Poor him, didn't even take a breather, since Jaci passed out. “You can go freshun up and eat something, you know. You have been sitting in that position for quite long time?” I gave a soft smile. He was shocked from my sudden change in behavior but didn't reacted. “I don't want to.” he gestured. I sighed. “Look man, I know you really care for her, so do I but, You kind of are looking like a zombie, right now. I'm afraid, once she gets up, she might faint again looking at your pale ghost like face and red eyes.” I joked.
He laughed. He actually laughed. “She might, right?” he nod his head. Then he turned towards her and stroked her cheeks very gently, with a smile and sighed, standing up. “I'll be back soon. You would stay by her side, right?” he asked, walking towards the entrance. “Always” I said, helding my head high. He definitely understood what I meant. Now and Forever. He paused at the entrance and smiled at me. “You are a good man Sam. You're welcome to stay in our tribe. I'm sure, Jaci would want that.” he said, with a heavy heart.
“Thanks, I had promised her anyways, that I won't leave her side ever.” I told him truthfully. He has to kill me first, if he wants to get rid of me. He nodded his head in understanding and walked away. In his absence, Abedabun came in to check on Jaci and to give me food. I thanked her, taking the food from her. “She will wake up soon, don't worry, son.” she said with a genuine smile. “I hope so too.” I said, sitting up straight to start eating. After few more bites, I stopped mid chewing, when I felt Abedabun acting strange.
If it was my first time, It would have freaked the shit out of me but, I kind of heard from the people here that, her eyes turns complete white, when she gets her visions. It went for quite a few seconds and then she came back to normal. “You Ok?” I asked, hiding my panicking. She nodded her head. “Son?” she called me. “Yes?” I asked. “Your heart is very strong and pure. Too rare to find now a days. She is very dear to you. Your soul calls out for her, right? You're not her soulmate but your soul is bounded with her's.” she said with an awe. I gave her a sad smile. “I don't know, what you meant by that but, we are very close since childhood and I have always felt protective about her.” I said.
She nod her head in understanding. “She loves you too, but you two are not meant to be together, not as man and wife, you realized that by now, don't you?”she asked, tilting her head, trying to read my expression. I tried to ignore the stinging sensation in the corner of my eyes, and concentrate on my food to act as if her words didn't effect me. “I know, it's hard to let go but you two will always be together. Not as life partners but friends. You are more to her, not just friend. Even if she belongs to Aku, she trust you more than him. She admires you, more than him and she need you more than him. You are her first friend and only family left.” she said.
“Right.” I said, feeling a little relieved. I know She would never let go of my hand just because, she fell for someone else. My place in her heart is secure, always. And I'm proud to say that, I'm not replaceable. “You're Right. You're not. Your bond with her is stronger and you have to support her and guide her always, remember that.” she said, reading my mind. We turned our head towards the entrance, when Aku came in, clean shaved, fresh cloth and hair tied into a high bun. Suits him.
He bend down and attached his forehead with Abadabun's and settle down beside her, resume looking at Jaci like before. Abadabun's and me both sighed audibly, together. Aku looked at both of us puzzled. We both exchanged looks and chuckled. Then she shoved Aku playfully and said something in her dialect which I didn't understand but, I guess she said, 'quit it. She is fine'. Then she stood up and took the clay bowl from my hand, which was empty now. “Don't sit all night. Get some sleep, both of you.” she said, walking away.
The rest of the night passed by we both asking random questions and giving answers to each other. I found out that, he lost his elder brother and mother same month and year. He took over the tribe after his father went into depression from losing both his wife and first born. They don't allow outsider in their Island because, they have lost many of his ancestors, who were great leaders and fighters, in the past including his own brother, due to the intrusion of the outside world. How can I blame him? Everyone wants to lead a peaceful life, without anyone's interference.
“It's not like, we didn't warn them but, they keep coming back. I don't know, what they want from us?” he said, frustrated. “First they were friendly, we exchanged gifts. Then they send more people to socialize with us. We denied because our past seers had visions of their corrupted mind, which would endanger our people life. We warned them, but they didn't stop. Then we used violence to drive them away, as we didn't have any option left.” he said, in deep thought.
“Your people did the right thing, Aku. Outside world is really corrupted. They are not just curious but greedy too. They kill innocents to save themselfts. They don't hesitate to destroy the others to prosper themselves. They are selfish. And it's getting worse. They won't change. You guys are lucky to be together because outside, even your own brother doesn't care for you.” I said, feeling disgusted all of a Sudden because, I came from the same world. Then we both had an acward staring competition with each other.
He broke it first. “You know, she's my mate, right?” he asked, looking into my eyes. I shrugged my shoulder and smirked. “But she loves me.” I said and regretted instantly, when his face fell. Shit, Nice job Sam. He gulped, looking at Jaci's sleeping form and then mummered. “But, I'm in love with her since I first laid my eyes on her and I was waiting for last 20 years, to confess it to her. I didn't touch any women ever because, I believed...She's out there somewhere and even if she was far from me, I wanted to be loyal to her” his words hit a sensitive spot, somewhere in my heart.
“Then, win her heart like a man. Show her how much you love her and need her, in your life. Don't give up until she gives in.” I smirked at him. He simply blinked at me, not sure if he was trying to make sense of my words or too stunned by my encouraging words. Then he turned towards Jaci and said something in his tounge, smiling. I'm not sure, why I advised him to do that, but my guts are telling me, I'm going to reget it later and it's definitely related to my heart ache in the near future.
Short chapter but worth it!😊
So, as you can guess, this was supposed to be written before Jaci wakes up, that is last chapter but, I hope it Didn't change the plot a lot and I wanted Sam, to play an important role to bring Jaci and Aku together, not just a supportive or a side character. Thus, the POV. Hope you like it.
