Chapter 41
Chapter 41
Since she was a ravishing beauty, Ann naturally had her own way of dealing with men.
At times, a coy gesture or a sultry look would leave those men dizzy, turning them into her lap dogs. They would do anything for her, even if it meant sacrificing their well–being.
However, Wyatt completely disregarded her.
Ann was furious. She couldn’t believe that this guy didn’t realize her alluring charms.
“I’ll give it to you. I always keep my promises!”
When she saw Wyatt’s angry face, Ann knew she had lost. She picked up her phone and dialed a number.” Bring me the Millennium Emberbloom.”
After hanging up the phone, she looked at Wyatt and said, “It’ll be here shortly. It’s in my office.”
Wyatt nodded. He didn’t mind waiting, as long as she didn’t break her promise.
At that moment, Hayley, who was hiding in the closet, felt slightly relieved.
She didn’t hear any fighting for a while, so it seemed like it was over. However, there were still many people downstairs, who seemed to be cleaning up the bloody aftermath.
She still didn’t dare to go out. She huddled in the corner of the closet, not moving a single muscle.
However, it wasn’t long before she heard someone coming upstairs and talking right outside the door.
Hayley’s heart, which she had finally managed to calm down, was suddenly racing again. Her body tensed up. What if they came in and found her?
Fortunately, they didn’t come in. They stood at the door talking, and it sounded like there was a man and
a woman.
She could only hear their conversation faintly since the door was closed and she was hiding in the closet.
She couldn’t make out what they were saying.
As she listened, Hayley thought the man’s voice sounded familiar. It sounded like Wyatt’s voice.
She quickly pricked her, ears to listen, but she couldn’t hear anything anymore.
Afterward, Hayley shook her head as she smiled wryly. How could it be Wyatt?
She thought to herself, “How could Wyatt be here? Am I just imagining things because I miss him so much?”
Ann’s people were quite efficient. They brought the item within 20 minutes.
It was stored in a long, narrow red wooden box.
Wyatt took a quick look. The wooden box was very well–made and crafted from centennial sacred
wood. It could not only seal in the medicinal properties of the Emberbloom but also ward off evil spirits and prevent them from absorbing the Emberbloom’s essence.
“Here’s the item I promised you,” Ann said as she reluctantly handed over the wooden box to Wyatt.
Wyatt chuckled as he opened the box. However, his face immediately froze as soon as he saw what was
inside.
Although it was indeed a wild Emberbloom, it wasn’t a Millennium Emberbloom. What was in the box was
only around a hundred years old.
A Centennial Emberbloom and a Millennium Emberbloom were a world apart in terms of medicinal
properties. The one before him was of little use to him.
It was as if Wyatt had done a job for Ann, and they had agreed on a payment of one thousand dollars, but she only gave him a hundred dollars.
When Wyatt asked about it, Ann was surprised. “It’s only a Centennial Emberbloom? I thought it was a Millennium Emberbloom! It seems like I was scammed. I’m so sorry, Wyatt.”
Did she just say that she got scammed?
Who would have the audacity to scam the heiress of the Moore family?
She had previously claimed with absolute certainty that it was a Millennium Emberbloom and that she had spent ten million dollars to acquire it.
It was obvious that she was trying to deceive him. A Centennial Emberbloom could never sell for ten million dollars. It would only be worth around two million dollars.
Wyatt had already figured out that he had been tricked by this woman!
“You’re playing a dangerous game!” Wyatt cautioned Ann, his voice filled with menace.
Ann murmured, “Wyatt, you’re not going to make a big deal out of this, right? It’s just a few years off. Besides, I’m your woman, so don’t take it so seriously.”
“Are you so desperate to be my woman? Alright, I’ll grant your wish then!”
Wyatt smiled wickedly, picked Ann up by the waist, kicked open the bedroom door, and strode in.
