Jennie's assistant quickly rushed into her office, she was on a phone call but had to drop it because of the kind of look on her face. "What's the matter Dolly?Why did you enter my office like this? She asked in an irritated voice. "Ma'am, one of our managers has been arrested," Dolly replied quickly and in a frightened voice.
"But why and who is that?". She asked in a surprised tone, why would one of her managers just be arrested like that. "She was found with drugs ma'am".
"What?". Just then her phone rang and she quickly answered it.
"Hello ma'am" came a voice from the other end of the line, it was Evie, the manager who was arrested
"Evie, what nonsense am I hearing?" She snapped angrily into the phone. "Ma'am, can you just help me out, I will explain everything to you later" came her short reply.
"You better do" saying that, Jennie cut the call and massaged her forehead. Two people have stolen the limelight from her and now this.
"Prepare the car and make sure no word about this goes out of this room" she ordered as she lowered herself on her seat.
"Yes ma" Dolly replied and quickly ran out.
Immediately she stepped out of the building, the whole area was covered with reporters and she was a bit surprised, who had called them. "I thought I asked that no word of this gets out, how come the reporters are here?" Jennie asked, turning to Dolly and two of her staff who were beside her.
"Sorry ma'am, they have been here ever since and it's hard to throw them out because it would cause a lot of damage, so it's better we grab an interview to clarify the situation" Jason, one of her staff said. "Ma'am, is it true that your best manager has been arrested?.
"Did you know she was on drugs before employing her?" "What are you going to tell the public ma'am?" "Good life agency has been the best so far,does this mean it will start facing its own problems now?" "Say something ma".
The reporters bombarded her with a lot of questions and she so wanted to throw all of them out but she knew she had to keep her cool inorder to keep the situation under control. "Thank you all for caring about the good life entertainment agency. We have been in this
game for a long time and we know when our competitors are trying to tarnish our reputation. This is just a small issue and it will be solved soon, I just want the public to continue to have faith in us and support us as always" she smiled at the camera as she said her speech.
This was something she is really good at and in a moment, the whole public was already sympathizing with her and throwing insults at her competitors. This was how Jennie had survived in the industry for so long, making proper use of the situation and gaining the public sympathy
They reached the station in half an hour, and there she was sitting at the back of the counter. It was Evie and she had a displeased look on her face,
"What is the meaning of this, Evie? Jennie asked the moment she walked up to her.
"Am sorry ma'am, can we talk about this outside?" She bowed her head apologetically.
"You are free to go ma'am but don't even think of traveling, once the result is out, you will be summoned again" a police officer said as he walked up to them and handed her her belongings.
"What happened Evie?" Jennie asked, the moment they boarded the vanity van.
"Ma'am, I have worked with you for years and yes I am into drugs. I won't lie to you but I don't know how the police knew, they have lots of evidence about it and am sure I leave no trace behind, it's weird" Evie replied.
Jennie massaged her forehead lazily," I am sure one of those bastard competitors is responsible for it and you Evie, why must you take drugs?. If this causes a scandal for me, I will not let you off so easily" she snapped and brought out her phone to make a phone call. Who dared to offend her.
She immediately called Mr Robin, the founder and CEO of the spotlight agency, one of her biggest competitors." Hello Mr Robin" she said immediately the call connected." Hello Miss Wilson" came a sinister voice from the other end of the line, "I didn't expect you would call me".
She scoffed, "I believe Mr Robin knows why I have called and I will let you know that this little tactic of yours didn't do anything. Better stick your nose somewhere else".
Mr Robin gave a good laugh from the other end of the phone, "I do not understand what you are trying to insinuate Miss Wilson".
"Oh I bet you do, be warned" she snapped and ended the call, turning to Evie. "Arrange for an interview and clear this mess, I will not allow this to ruin all my hardwork". "Yes ma❞ Evie replied as the van zoomed off. Teresa was standing on the balcony of her office, deeply immersed in her thoughts when her assistant, Jemima entered the office. "It is done ma, she has been released".
Teresa smiled mischievously," Good, this is just the beginning. Jennie I know will not take this lying down, let's just let her think she is in control of this for a while" came her mocking reply. "Ma'am can I say something?" Jemima asked. I have been your assistant for a long time but I think I understand you now.
