The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday

Chapter 276

"Yeah,

right."

"Are doctors rolling in dough these days?"

"Ms. Dawson, I'm not just any doctor. I'm a doctor from a wealthy family." As Neil said this, he opened the door, inviting Freya into the car.

"Ms. Dawson, there's no need to be nervous. It's rare to mingle with people from different worlds in our circles since we're all on the same financial level. You don't have to suspect any ulterior motives from me." Freya smiled. "I don't think you have ulterior motives. I'm just genuinely curious why Preston asked you to treat me."

"That's a question you should ask him, Ms. Dawson."

"Are you close with him?"

"We're friends, I guess."

"He has friends?" Freya found it hard to imagine. Interacting with someone like Preston must be quite the ordeal.

"Ms. Dawson, you don't really know Preston. He might come off as awful to those on the outside, but once you get to know him, you'll find he's even worse than you imagined."

Listening to Neil's attempt at humor, Freya forced a smile.

It was not funny since she was starting to understand what he meant.

As Neil drove, it wasn't until they were halfway there that Freya realized something was off. "This isn't the way to my place."

"Ms. Dawson, quick on the uptake." Neil had deliberately taken three turns from Freya's apartment, yet she still noticed they weren't heading toward her place.

"Where are you taking me?" asked Freya.

"Preston messaged me, insisting I bring you to see him."

Neil said it and added meaningfully, "Seems like Preston is finally in love with someone."

Freya frowned. "Dr. Anderson, your jokes are not funny."

"Enough teasing." Neil continued,

"He has serious business with you but is not interested in you romantically. After all, I've never seen Preston show interest in any woman."

"Are you suggesting... he's into men?"

When Freya asked this, Neil paused, then shushed toward her, "Shush, I didn't say anything."

Freya twitched her lips. She wouldn't believe a word Neil said if she hadn't known Preston's deep love for Eloise in the past life.

Shortly after, Neil parked the car outside Tyler Mansion.

Freya couldn't believe Preston lived in such a place as she followed Neil out of the car.

"This house... has it been here for twenty of thirty years?" Freya looked around. Even though they were in the city center, this villa stood alone, easily overlooked.

Moreover, from the outside, it looked like a very simple two-story villa with a vintage vibe, almost entirely covered in ivy creeping up toward the second-floor windows.

Neil explained, "He has always liked it here, mainly because it's secluded and hard to spot. That's why he chose this place."

Neil led Freya inside. Hans opened the door as if he had timed their arrival precisely as they entered.

Noticing Neil's arm supporting Freya, Hans said nothing, but Neil explained naturally, "Ms. Dawson has trouble walking. I'm just helping her."

Hans spoke in a measured tone, "Mr. Tyler is waiting for you."
