Chapter 6
Chapter 6
LOGAN
Isabel Payne, my ex–mare and the woman whose heart I broke when I looked into her eyes and rejected her. She was standing some inch away from staring at me with shock in her eyes.
The moment my eyes locked with hers. Everything around me blurred and all that existed that moment was just me and
her.
She didn’t look much different and at the same time, she looked a lot different. She wasn’t looking like the same woman I left. There was something about her that changed but I couldn’t tell what it was.
It didn’t take seconds before I watched as she turned on her heels and ran out of the room. I was stunned.
I sat on my seat a little lost at what had just happened and contemplated if I should go after her or not.
“What’s wrong? Why did she leave?” Nick, a business friend of mine asked.
“Pardon me and excuse me, I’ll be back in a minute, Leah, the owner of the restaurant apologized before going after Isabel
Isabel was the reason I had come to this restaurant. For years I’ve searched for her, but I couldn’t find her anywhere, it was as if she was out of reach and gone forever. It hurts every day and for years I tortured myself.
It was last week that I saw her in the newspaper. She was on the front page of the newspaper with the heading. “The most sought Chef in the country“.
I was surprised to see her even though it wasn’t physical. I felt alive after a long time seeing her in the newspaper.
I never thought I’d see her again and I knew I had to see her in person. I asked my secretary to find out the name of the restaurant where she worked and to give me every detail about it.
He got back to me in no time. There was going to be a business party soon and I recommended that the restaurant be used for the event.
It was the reason I came to this restaurant. I knew she wasn’t expecting to see me but I expected to see her. Realizing the reason that I had come here, I stood on my feet to go after her.
“I will be right back,” I said to Nick before leaving, taking long strides so I could catch up with her.
“Where is she?” I asked Leah just as I came across her.
I’m sorry Mr Smith but she’s a little unwell and has decided to go home, I…” I didn’t let her keep talking before I ran out of the restaurant in hopes of catching up with Isabel.
I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw her but the little smile that formed across my lips when I saw her disappeared when I saw her with another man.
Who was he? I thought to myself. I stood from afar as I watched the man hold her bag and lead her to his car
Was he her boyfriend or perhaps her husband? The thought of that made my heart sink. I knew I was in no place to have such feelings but it hurt.
I was the
one who had left her so why was I bothered that she moved on? I turned back on my heels and back into the restaurant. I felt a sinking dull feeling in the pit of my stomach as I walked back in
“Where did you go to? The food is delicious. I think I’ve gotten my new favorite place, Nick remarked with a small chuckle.

“Where are the drinks? The night is about to get lit,” Nick said.
My mood was already ruined and 1 had slowly faded in the room as the images of Isabel and her new man disturbed me.
“Hey, hey, I snapped out of my thoughts when Nick tapped hard on my shoulder.
–
“Are you alright? You seem lost,” he said.
I shook my head. I’m fine. I. I’m a little exhausted and would have to call it a night, I replied.
The skin between his brows creased. “What do you mean? The party just got started. You can’t call it a night yet.”
“I also have some Pack matter to attend to. I promise to make it up to you,” I lied before getting up on my feet to leave.
All through the ride to my mansion, I was in deep thought. Memories of what happened four years ago resurfaced and I couldn’t help but hate myself for all that had happened.
I walked into the big empty mansion that I’d lived in for almost three years. It was eerily quiet as usual but today it felt empty. It has always been like this, no one except me lived in this mansion but I found it strange today.
I sat down on the couch as I reflected on myself.
“I knew I’d find you here. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard the familiar sound of
my beta.
“What’s wrong? I mean you’ve always been gloomy but tonight looks different. Did something happen?” Raymond my beta asked as he sat beside me on the couch.
“I saw her.” I said.
“You saw her? Who Nsabel?” He questioned and I nodded my head.
“Well, that’s good news so why do you look sad? You’ve been looking for her for almost four years so why are you sad now that you’ve seen her?” He asked.
“I… I trailed off in short of words.
“Why didn’t you go after her? Why didn’t you speak to her?” He asked.
Tears filled my eyes as I clenched my fist.
“I did. I… I… I wanted to speak to you. You of all people know how much I’ve missed her and how much I regret my actions.
“Then what stopped you? Why didn’t you?” Raymond questioned.
“Probably if I had taken another route, just maybe, maybe she’d still be mine. Maybe her story wouldn’t have been the same.”
