DEXTER -

I wanted to do anything to keep her by my side since she was going to be extremely useful to me, but I hated the fact that the witch, my father’s Luna was all over her,

I couldn’t stand the sight of us all together like a big happy family so as soon as I was half done, I rose to my feet and began walking away,

As I got to the stairs, I mind-linked my beta immediately,

*Did you get the information I asked you to find?"

"No, Alpha, not yet. It’s hard tracking anything about her past and her father doesn’t know anything either." He responded,

"Get Amelia to the balcony immediately. I’m waiting." I instructed and ended the mind-link, heading towards the balcony. Now that Amelia had heard about the part of the contract of which she was unaware, I needed something to make her stay and this was it,

As I got to the balcony, I leaned on the banister and began to think, "Dexter." I heard Scarlett’s voice,

She ran towards me and hugged me tight while I gently rubbed her hair, planting a kiss on her forehead,

"I missed you so much. Where have you been for the past two days?"

"I went on a search for my pretty annoying mate.

You know the consequences of not bringing my mate to the pack?"

She nodded her head,

"So what have you been up to?"

"It’s only a few weeks to the day, Dexter, so I’m preparing for it. Did you forget? My father’s memorial."

I nodded, "I can never forget Scarlett, trust me. Like every year, we would all be there with you." I uttered, seeing a tear form at the corner of her eyes as she held my hand,

She was in this fucking mess all because of me, and all of that guilt was buried freshly in my mind. I hated seeing her this way every year as it tortured me so much even till now, and knowing I couldn’t do anything haunts me even more, I pulled her into another tight hug, gently rubbing her hair and I suddenly heard footsteps. The scent of my mate was drawing nearer too, making me realize that my wolf was quickly getting familiar with her scent,

"I need to do something urgent now, Scarlett. Can we talk later?"

She bit her lips and nodded her head as I broke the hug before she began to walk away. As soon as she was gone, I felt Amelia’s presence behind me,

I never get scared about the outcome of anything in my life because I always get what I want or because it all works out in my favor, but with her it was different. I was a little scared everything might flop

As she came closer to me, I cleared my throat aloud. It was time to give her another reason to stay in the pack as my fake Luna.
