Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love

Chapter 59 Why Don't You Like Mommy

"Listen, I promise, I'm trying so hard to find her, but it's been such a long time and the case has gone cold. Sister, I promise I'll tell you as soon as I get any news," Fannie said honestly. Her words sounded so sincere that Nancy couldn't ask more of her.

However, she was still anxious to see her daughter as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Bobby hadn't seen Nancy for a few days and he began to miss her.

"Grandma, the wound on your forehead should have healed. Do you want Mommy to check to make sure it is all ok?" said Bobby, touching Angelina's forehead gently with his little hand.

"It doesn't hurt anymore, but in order not to leave a scar, I've decided to leave the stitches in a little longer," said Angelina, moving Bobby's hand off her wound carefully.

"So Mommy did a good job? She is an excellent doctor, isn't she?" added Bobby eagerly.

It was obvious that he wanted to buy Nancy points with his grandmother.

He ultimately hoped that his grandma could accept Mommy. She was such a good person, and he couldn't fathom why Grandma didn't like her.

It constantly bothered Bobby. It was so confusing and frustrating to him because he loved both women.

Angelina's face darkened. "There are many excellent doctors and most have a family background better than Nancy's." "But Mommy is beautiful and gentle and she is nice to Daddy and me," Bobby rambled unhappily.

"Honey, don't defend that woman! Besides, the girl your daddy will marry has to be approved by me, your grandpa, and your grand-grandpa. It isn't only up to me. "It was a long standing tradition that marriages of wealthy families' descendants had to approved by their elders. It was a tradition their family intended on following through on as well.

Even if Angelina did not know Nancy and had somehow approved of her blindly, Frederic might not agree.

"Why is it all so complicated?" Bobby slipped off the sofa and sulked upstairs.

Off in the study, Charles was reading documents. Occasionally, he looked up and admired a photo of Nancy when she was young.

He found himself doing this often when he missed her.

"Daddy..." Bobby called out tentatively. It was obvious to Charles that Bobby felt aggrieved as he entered the room.

"What's wrong? Did you get into another argument with Grandma?" Charles asked this half-jokingly, knowing both his son and mother and their tendency to butt heads.

"I certainly don't WANT to keep arguing with Grandma!" Bobby whined and climbed into Charles' lap.

"Well, what has you upset this time?" Even as he asked, he had already guessed part of it. He missed Nancy also, but unlike the boy, he was very busy recently. He was able to message Nancy, but the woman never replied! Wasn't she too stingy?

In fact, Nancy had thought long and hard before deciding to ignore Charles.

She was scared of him, really, truly scared.

She was both afraid that she would be fall for Charles and that Charles might leave her after finding out what she had been through.

She thought it better to end things before they could even begin.

At least then she figured they could still be friends and she could continue to see Bobby.

Thus, she ignored his messages. However, she had read them over and over to herself, missing him as much as he missed her.

Bobby put his chubby arms around Charles' neck and leaned his mouth against his father's ear, and said, "Daddy, I miss Mommy so much. What do I do?"

Charles rubbed his chin, sighing inside since he also missed her.

"Bobby, I think we have to find ways to make your mommy miss us too, so that she will come visit." Charles' advice was vague but kind.

Bobby's big eyes blinked and he asked excitedly, "Daddy, what can we do to make Mommy miss us? Why doesn't she already? Am I not cute? Am I not well behaved? Does Mommy not like me?"

He asked his questions rapid fire in a fit of selfconsciousness and Charles couldn't keep up.

"Of course you are cute. I promise your mommy likes you, too." Charles tried to quell the boy's worry.

"Then it must be you who Mommy doesn't like anymore! Are you misbehaving or not cute enough?" Bobby asked this accusingly.

"What?"

Charles laughed at Bobby's words, but then started to anger. Maybe he was right. Maybe it was Charles driving Nancy away.

Why couldn't he just love a woman who would love him back?

"Hmph, poor Dad! You can't even get a Mommy to miss you. What is wrong with you?" Bobby echoed Charles' own concerns with a tone of disgust.

"How could that be?" Charles' face fell. Was he so weak in his son's eyes? 'Son, don't you know your dad is the most powerful man in the world?' Charles asked for his own ego's sake.

"I don't care. I just want Mommy. Daddy, give me the phone." Taking Charles' phone and checking the calendar, all of a sudden, Bobby shouted in surprise, "Daddy, I want to celebrate!" "Celebrate what? There's no holiday. It's not your birthday," Charles said in disbelief.

"Not mine, yours! Yours is coming up soon!" Bobby emphasized the last word to convey his urgency.

When Charles glanced at his phone, he realized Bobby was right and his birthday was less than 48 hours away.

Usually Angelina planned something for it, so he never gave it much thought. Charles really didn't care to celebrate his birthday. It was usually just a party full of people looking to use the party as an excuse to approach him about work and he would spend the night trying to ignore them all.

This meant that in recent years he had asked Angelina only invite Jay for a low-key dinner at home. Truthfully, if not for Bobby's reminding, he would have forgotten that his birthday was coming soon. Even Angelina had been busy with Bobby in these days, so she might have forgotten his birthday too. However, he was open to anything that might help with his mother's resistance to Nancy. Charles kissed Bobby on his head, asking lovingly, "Do you have something in mind?"

Bobby must have had an idea, otherwise he wouldn't have brought up his birthday.

Bobby was such a bright child, with so many ideas!

Blinking his eyes, Bobby tilted his head and said in a serious tone, "I'm going to tell Mommy it's your birthday and she has to come to celebrate. Mommy is too good to say no to a birthday!" Charles didn't say anything. It might not make her miss them, but it wasn't a bad excuse to invite her around.

"If you say nothing, it's just tacit consent, right?"

Bobby said this out loud but did not expect a response.

He stretched out his little finger and slowly typed a message, "Mommy, Daddy's birthday is the day after tomorrow. You are invited to attend the birthday party. Mommy, please come. Thank you. Bobby." Looking at the message, Nancy thought of Bobby's lovely little face and had to catch a tear as it rolled down her face at the thought.

She didn't want to disappoint that angel by turning down his invitation.

She would take the opportunity to speak to Charles in person and confess that she had once given birth.

Hiding it from him was too consuming and she couldn't afford distractions when she had to concentrate on finding her daughter.

Thinking all of this, Nancy replied, "Okay, Bobby, I'll be there."

After getting Nancy's reply, Bobby smiled happily with his big eyes, showing her reply to Charles. "Daddy, Mommy said that she would attend the party. I'm very happy. Are you?"

Charles' lips curved up; he would get to see Nancy in person instead of just a photograph. How could he not be happy?
