Chapter 224 Just Jealous
Nancy's mind was a mess. She let out a breath.
For a moment, she had forgotten what she needed to do. When she got back to her senses, they hailed a taxi and went to Doris' house. Bobby was good at gauging people. He looked at Nancy's cold face and asked in a low voice, "Mommy, what did Daddy do?" Although she wasn't sure, she had to put the children's minds at ease. She replied with a sigh, "Your daddy didn't do anything bad..."
The car soon arrived at Doris' place.
At that time, Doris was already waiting for them in the yard with Jay.
When she saw Nancy, she hurriedly opened the car door and faced the children. "Bobby and Nadia, you two get in the car. Later on, you two have to stick with Jay. Your Mommy and I have something to do but it won't take long, okay?"
The two kids nodded.
Left with no other choice, Jay drove them to the Hayworth Hotel.
Luxury cars lined up in front of the hotel.
The guests seemed to be all handsome eligible bachelors and stunning bachelorettes. Most of them were accompanied by their parents. They were all laughing and enjoying the night. Coincidentally, when Jay pulled over in front the hotel, Nancy saw Charles and Angelina got out of their car.
"Charles... here he is," said Nancy.
Charles was oblivious of the real purpose of this dinner. He thought it was for a charity because his mother, Angelina, liked to attend charity parties.
Partly because she wanted to establish a glorious image for the TS Group, and partly because she wanted to show off her wealth.
If she had told him that it was about blind dates, he wouldn't have come. That was why Angelina had to trick him into going to the party.
They walked side by side on the red carpet and into the hall.
"Daddy and grandma are here! We have to go in, too." Bobby was about to get out of the car when Doris stopped him.
"You two are going to be with Jay tonight. Don't follow us, okay?" When Doris took Nancy's hand, she immediately noticed how it cold it was.
"Hey, don't be nervous! Didn't you tell me you believe him? You have to be strong!" Doris joked.
It was true that Nancy trusted Charles. She was just disappointed over the fact that Charles and her had been together for a long time now, but his mother still didn't accept her.
"If you insist on coming inside, I will go with you!" Jay opened the door and said, "Kids, stay in the car. I will be back soon."
"Okay, Godfather!" the two kids answered obediently.
He led the way into the hall and the two women followed him.
"Hey, who are those two women? They are both beautiful!"
"That skinny woman looks familiar!"
"Is she Charles's lover... Nancy, yes, it's her!"
"Why is she here?"
"Ha-ha, isn't it obvious? She is also looking for a young man from a rich family."
"Isn't she with Charles?"
"Yes!"
Whether it was because their whispers were too loud or Nancy's name was mentioned, their conversation caught Charles' attention. His eyes wandered in the room full of people and soon landed on the two familiar women. It's already late. What brought them here?
"Mrs. Wang, is she your daughter?" Angelina walked over and greeted a rich lady from the Wang family.
"Hey, Mrs. Fu. Yes, this is my daughter Jodie. Jodie, come and meet Mrs. Fu!" The old woman pulled her daughter in front of Angelina. "She is absolutely beautiful!" Angelina scanned Jodie from head to foot. "Come here, Charles. This is Jodie!"
But Charles didn't respond to her. His full attention was on Nancy.
"Charles..." she stressed.
When she turned around, Charles was already walking towards Nancy.
Angelina's face turned cold. Why did Nancy come here?
"Mr. Fu, it's nice to see you here." Although Nancy was only wearing an ordinary beige dress, her skin still looked fair and beautiful. With natural freshness, she looked different and charming. "Miss... Ning, aren't you supposed to be at home with the kids? What are you doing here?" he asked indifferently.
Nancy thought, 'You want me to stay at home and take care of the kids while you're having fun here, huh?'
"How about you, Mr. Fu? What are you doing here?" She smiled and calmly asked, "Do you really think this is a charity dinner?"
"Isn't it?" He looked around and realized that the guests were mostly young people. "No matter what this party was all about, your presence here is still strange."
Clearly, Charles didn't want to see Nancy in such occasion!
Nancy thought, 'Damn it! Just say it. Why does he still talk so much?'
"No one told me that I couldn't come, Mr. Fu. And I think it's none of your business!" said Nancy with a smile.
What did he regard her for now?
In other people's eyes, she was just a mere lover of Charles!
Charles' face turned cold.
"Oh, Miss Ning, don't you have babies to take care of? Why are you still attending such a party?" Angelina's voice was dripping with sarcasm.
"This is... what party? Isn't it just a charity dinner? There is no rule that I can't attend, right?"
"Yes, it was supposed to be a charity dinner, but now it has been changed exclusively for rich people," Angelina said quickly.
Afraid to be blamed by his son, she said, "Son, I forgot to tell you that."
Charles remained expressionless.
He looked at Nancy indifferently, waiting for her answer.
"I... I just have nothing to do, so I decided to come here and have fun. Maybe..." Her eyes were fixated on his face. "Maybe I can meet a man I like here!"
As she spoke, she picked up the goblet and took a sip of the wine.
Charles' lips twitched, but he still didn't say anything.
"Well, I thought you were very reserved, but now it seems that you are not. A woman should just stay at home once she has a child. You... You shouldn't be here! "Angelina's tone was accusing. Without getting angry, Nancy squinted at them and said, "Men still look for women even if they already have children. Who says that women can't do the same?"
Charles could tell what Nancy meant. He just didn't know what was wrong with her. She looked like a hedgehog today.
"Charles, listen! Is this something a good woman can say? It's a relief that you didn't marry her. If that happened, our family will be in big trouble!"
Angelina raised her chin and looked at Nancy with more contempt.
Nancy had been accustomed to her gaze. It didn't affect her anymore.
Therefore, she was not angry at all.
"Mr. Fu, will you marry me?" With a faint smile, Nancy raised her goblet and gestured for him to drink.
How could the smart Charles not see what she meant?
She was just jealous.
But he just didn't expect that she would appear here today.
