Kathy was quite irritated so she decided to call her best friend-Betty Zhao.

"But I'm afraid that my family will beat me to death!" Kathy said with concern, "Besides, Ethan likes Nancy. Do I even have a chance with him?"

"Regardless of your chances with Ethan, your marriage is already over whether you divorce Steven or not. No one knows what the future holds. You gotta give it a shot," said Betty Zhao. "Okay!" Kathy agreed.

That night, she put forward a divorce proposal to Steven. "1 want a divorce!"

To her surprise, Steven immediately agreed, "Divorce is okay, but we have to wait until the Civil Affairs Bureau opens tomorrow. What do you think?"

How could he agree so readily?

Kathy bit her lips as tears swirled in her eyes.

Steven shrugged and sneered, "If you are feeling regret, then it's not too late. I can pretend that I didn't hear anything just now."

Kathy turned around and tried to leave. "I don't regret anything. I always knew marrying you was a mistake."

Something inside Steven ticked when he heard Kathy's answer. He suddenly grabbed her arm and gazed straight in her eyes. As his warm breath softly caressed her face, he said, "Since it was a mistake, you have to pay the price for it, right?"

"I invested so much in you and your family. How are you gonna pay me back? The only thing you can pay me back with is your body!"

The next morning, when Kathy woke up, she felt a sharp pain all over her body.
