Sweet Twins Indulge in Daddy's Love

Chapter 109 Turn A Blind Eye

When Nancy saw the news that she was to be engaged to Charles a month later, she was stunned and was speechless.

She could not describe how she felt. It was as if her life was a mess, her future uncertain, and her career was going down the drain. There were simply too many variables involved.

"I spent so much effort just to settle down, Charles," Nancy complained, the inner pain she felt clearly reflected on her trembling voice.

"Nancy, please marry me and I promise I will give you a happy and peaceful life!" The love Charles had for Nancy was contained in the words he had just uttered.

Doris was deeply touched by what she heard and said, "If a man were to say that to me, I will go through hell with him and marry him despite all the difficulties on our path!" "There is already someone beside you, but you just choose to ignore him and turn a blind eye," whispered Jay.

"Did you say something?" Doris asked absentmindedly as she wiped her tears away.

"I agree with what you said. It is a good idea," Jay said, trying to beat around the bush.

"Godmother, godfather said that there is already someone beside whom you can depend on, but you kept on ignoring him," Nadia said softly, her words teasing.

"Don't believe him. He is a good liar. He cannot be trusted," Doris said self-consciously, her face scarlet with shyness.

"Yes, I am a liar. So what?" Jay said in a provocative manner.

He looked as if he was mocking Doris.

"Dad, what the hell happened?" Dorothy asked her father reproachfully.

Before Drew went to the Fu's, Charles and Nancy were not in a formal relationship. But right upon his return, why did Charles immediately announce to the world that he would get engaged to Nancy? "Dad, what was your intention in going there? Was it to propose a marriage for me, or for Nancy?" Dorothy continued on her tirade, her resentment clearly visible on her face.

"Alas, how was I supposed to know what happened after I left?" Drew sighed. "Angelina promised me that everything will go as planned. But when I got back, everything has changed!"

"I guess Charles made the decision without consulting anyone. Don't worry too much, Dorothy. Let your father call them up to confirm what happened," Sherry said after thinking for a while. "Well, let me call Angelina up and ask her again." Drew took out his phone reluctantly because he had no choice.

But before he could find Angelina's number, his phone suddenly rang.

"Oh, the call is from Angelina!" Drew picked up the call and greeted her, "Mrs. Fu."

News of the upcoming engagement between Charles and Nancy would have spread all over the city by then. Angelina must have heard about it as well, or she wouldn't have called. Yes, he was sure that was why she called.

Angelina's anger and shock could not be described in words!

After she had read the news, she was funning mad and her hands were trembling in rage.

'Charles, how dare you do this to me! Is it right for you to ignore my feelings? Is it right for you to decide on your marriage without discussing it with me first?'

Angelina gritted her teeth in frustration while talking to herself.

She threw her phone high in the air in rage from time to time, but she didn't dare to let it drop to the ground.

After thinking deeply for a while, she decided to call Drew up.

"Mr. Zhuang, my apologies. I am clueless and am caught unaware by the unexpected news. I will confront Charles the minute he gets home. Rest assured, I won't give them my blessing and I'll never agree to their engagement." Angelina called him just to make sure he clearly knew her stand on this matter.

Charles made the decision by himself without consulting her. She didn't lie to Drew when she said it had nothing to do with her.

"Yes, Mrs. Fu. I understand. Charles must have been hot-headed and made the decision at the spur of the moment, thus making a mistake. Please remind him to keep his head above the water and be vigilant," Drew said carefully, trying to ease the tension.

"Of course, I will tell him to reflect on his decision. Mr. Zhuang, tell Dorothy not to worry and comfort her as much as you can." "She is heartbroken and sad," Drew said painfully after looking at her. "She has been wronged and cast aside.

Her feelings for Charles run deep," Drew continued as he sighed.

"I know. Everyone in our family has accepted Dorothy and we really like her. You know that," Angelina reassured them.

"We are all aware of that."

Sherry, who was standing beside them, sneered maliciously and said, "Dorothy is a young talented woman and has a good family background. In comparison, Nancy is just an ordinary doctor. How can she even compare with our Dorothy?"

Drew ended the call and said, "There is no use rubbing salt to the wound now. Instead, you better focus on thinking of ways how to make Charles leave that damned woman by the name of Nancy!" "Humph, how could anyone persuade a man as strong as Charles to change his decision?" asked Sherry helplessly.

A trace of cruelty flashed across Dorothy's eyes.

She could not rely on anyone. Aside from her, there was no one else that could help her resolve the situation.

She needed to plan carefully and find a solution on her own.

With this thought, Dorothy returned to her room.

The first step was to search for all information regarding Nancy on the net. She sat in front of the computer and began to dig on Nancy's background.

But aside from Nancy's family information, Dorothy was at a dead end and could not find anything else about Nancy. There was no other personal information.

"Nancy is not in good terms with Fannie and her mother and doesn't get along well with them," Dorothy scorned at what she found out.

She took note of Fannie's number. After all, the saying that an enemy's enemy was a friend had been proven to be true time and again. She wanted to find a common enemy in Fannie and talk to her

By that time, both Fannie and Jill had already heard about the engagement between Nancy and Charles.

"Look, you have committed so many bad things against Nancy. Now that they are engaged, what should we do?" Caspar shouted, his voice full of worry. His head was still wrapped with white gauze. "How were we supposed to know that they will get engaged? We all thought that Charles was just playing with her. The sudden turn of events is totally unexpected!" Fanny said in frustration.

"It's no use making up excuses now. Fortunately, your father and I have begged Nancy for her forgiveness. Knowing her, I don't think she would be as heartless as to kill us!" Jill said restlessly while trying to comfort herself.

"She may not be as heartless, but how about Charles? Nobody would be able to stop him if he bears a grudge against us and becomes cruel and merciless. Humph!" Caspar was fully aware of the consequence of messing with Charles because he had experienced it firsthand. Had he not blocked the chair a bit, he would have been lying in the morgue of a hospital right now.

Just the thought of it still gave him the chills and he was petrified.

Fannie, on her end, was a little regretful, but she was reluctant to give up.

She would never be able to reconcile seeing Nancy become the lady of the Fu family. For her, Nancy was not as good as her. If she were to marry Charles, she would become wealthier than the Ning family and would lead a more dazzling life than Fanny.

Lost in her thoughts, Fannie was interrupted by a call from Dorothy.

"Excuse me, is Miss Fannie Ning on the line?" Dorothy tentatively asked.

"Who are you?" Fannie blurted out. She wasn't particularly nice to people she wasn't familiar with.

"Let us say I am your friend, as we have a common hatred towards Nancy!" Dorothy said in a low voice with her eyebrows raised, her temper slowly showing.

Fanny sneered, "Are you making fun of me? Nancy is my sister and she will soon be Charles' fiancee. Why are you telling me that you hate her? You are so ridiculous!"

Fannie was very careful, thinking it might be a trap. She was afraid to say something out of line because it might reach Charles' ears.

"Yeah, I know Nancy is your sister. But I also know that you two don't get along. There is no need to pretend and hide anything from me, okay? I called you because I want to confirm who she was dating before she met Charles." Dorothy snorted and said scornfully, "But of course, Fannie, I already know you've dated someone other than your husband!"

The look on Fannie's face changed. This woman was familiar with what happened before. Perplexedly, she asked, "Who the hell are you?"

Dorothy blew on her scarlet fingernails nails before she continued, "If I tell you who I am, will you help me?" "It depends on whether you will be useful to me or not," Fannie said haughtily.

"My aim is simple. I want to prevent Nancy from marrying Charles. Are you willing to cooperate with me?" said Dorothy, her lips curled into a menacing smile.
