Chapter 1251
Chapter 1251 Hanging By A Thread
After discovering the true door of the living in that void. Alex did not choose to go alone. Instead, he found Megan and took her
with him.
The poor little girl had been trapped in that place for a long time. She endured so much pain and. torment. Alex’s aid could finally
spell her escape.
Following the directions given by Jade, Alex quickly found the door to Quade’s house. Alex grasped the doorknob and pushed.
Crack!
The door opened, a sliver of light seeping through the gap. Seeing that, Alex felt a pang of joy in his heart. I’m finally out!
Megan was similarly delighted. She couldn’t wait and dashed out the door ahead of Alex. However, the smile on her face froze
when she saw the scene in front of her.
Alex stepped out, only to discover something unusual. There was a body hanging at the stairwell.
“I’m still stuck here, still trapped in this place! I want to get out. Please don’t keep me trapped here! I beg you, let me out!” Megan
was experiencing another emotional collapse after seeing the body hanging at the entrance of the stairwell.
Immediately, Megan, as if driven mad, dashed upstairs. Even when Alex called out to her from behind, she didn’t so much as
turn her head.
Alex was somewhat speechless. I pity her, but her disobedience is also quite annoying.
Looking at the hanging body, Alex felt a sense of familiarity, but he couldn’t quite figure out why. His gaze then fell on the clothes
the body was wearing.
“Why does this outfit look familiar?” Alex muttered to himself, glancing down at his own trousers. Only then did he realize that the
clothes on the body hanging at the stairwell were identical to his own. Moreover, its silhouette from the back was strikingly similar
to his physique.
Recalling the words previously spoken by Megan, Alex suddenly understood something. They were still trapped inside. What
Megan saw was her own corpse, and what Alex saw was his own.
The only thing Alex couldn’t figure out, no matter how hard he tried, was why the people of Mountain of the Beasts didn’t only
trap him there. Why did they involve Megan? Could it be that she was the bait to lure me in? Even without Megan, if the
mysterious person from Mountain of the Beasts sent me a message inviting me in, I wouldn’t hesitate to enter.
Unable to figure out the reason behind all that, Alex couldn’t be bothered to ponder about it any longer. All I need to do now is
find a way out of this place. I can find someone from Mountain of the Beasts and ask them for clarification later.
Alex walked toward the corpse at the stairwell, which was facing away from him. He reached out and grabbed the corpse’s foot.
As soon as he touched it, he felt something strange, but he couldn’t put it into words.
It was probably like feeling one’s own body hanging lifeless at the entrance of the stairwell, wanting to turn it around.
The corpse slowly turned around. Even though Alex had mentally prepared himself for that moment, he still found it somewhat
unbearable when he actually saw it.
The corpse had the same appearance and the same clothes as him. The only difference was that the body. was hung, and its
eyes were red. Right after the corpse turned around, those red eyes stared straight at Alex. The atmosphere was eerie, too.
Alex took two steps to the left, and the corpse’s red eyes followed him intently. No matter where he went, the corpse’s gaze was
always affixed on him.
Alex finally understood why Megan was so distraught. Even a man in his twenties like him felt somewhat scared when faced with
that situation. Hence, it was understandable that a seventeen-year-old girl who had little experience with the world would freak
out.
Really, Alex wasn’t afraid of the hanging corpse at the stairwell. If it were someone else’s body. Alex might be able to ignore it
completely. However, the corpse looks exactly like him, and when he made eye contact. with it, he felt like looking in a mirror,
which was pretty terrifying.
That wasn’t the worst part because there wasn’t just one corpse. In total, thirty-two such corpses were hanging on the sixteenth
floor.
