Skye's Arrival

Chapter Chapter Seven

In what feels like decades, I take an owned breath. When my eyes focus I am aware that my arms are shackled to a stone wall, as well as my legs. I blink while everything begins to focus. Koan is standing in front of me with a loose white shirt and black leather pants. There is a smile on his face once my face begins to take the shape of rage.

“You are a dead man.” I yell, trying to pull myself from the wall. Movement is heard as my eyes begin to retain more than Koan’s image. Several demons are surrounding me with swords at the ready. I try to pull my arm free, but I’m too weak for the enchanted chain. The runes carved onto it are designed to hold celestials.

“Why are you doing this?” I demand from Koan. “Why are you trying to hurt Dawn?” I try again to pull away from the wall, feeling Dawn’s rage with mine. Neither of us know how long this has been going on, but we’re equally enraged at this point.

Koan gives me a small smile. “All of this is to save you, my dear Skye. Dawn is a parasite that will take your life, and I will not allow that to happen.”

I spit at the ground. “The only reason you’re even pretending to care is so you can combine our worlds. I will not allow you to do that, even if it costs me my life.” He flinches at my harsh words. “Let me die Koan.”

Rage fills his face as he strides over to me and smacks me, making the room echo. “Never doubt my motives Skye. I will keep you alive. I thought I lost you once, and I will never allow it to happen again. Now say goodbye to Dawn, Skye.”

“Go back to the Underworld,” I spit my blood onto his cheek. I can feel Dawn’s nervousness as she twists and shifts, various emotions running through her.

Koan wipes his face. “That’s not attractive, my dear. You’ve been involved with people below your status too long. I’ll have to fix that. In the meantime, will you please allow me to talk to that demon residing inside of you?”

I was about to tell him off again when I feel a warm wave shift inside of me, pulling out anger. “Now why would you want to do that?” I chuckle, pulling my arms from the wall, breaking the shackles. Koan’s eyes widen as they are forced to take a step back.

A dark chuckle rips through me, “You never realized that I’m full demon, did you? There is nothing Celestial about me.” I take a step forward and grab someone’s throat that dared to be near me. Black runes race down my arms as they scream in agony while they disappear.

Koan sputters while he takes another step back while I stalk towards him. “What demon are you? Why do you not bow to me?”

“You’re not one I answer to. Such a pathetically weak demon like you will never be able to control me.” I grab his throat, letting the dark runes run towards him. “Let me tell you something Koan. A Celestial Demon is far stronger than any generic demon.”

“How-How is that possible?” He croaks.

“Do you even know what a Celestial Demon is? It’s a demon born into a celestial that lives through their spirit, designed specifically to kill that celestial. I will kill Skye, you are not wrong about that. I love my sister more than words can express, and the very thought of that day is agonizing. However, her spending eternity with you is a far harsher punishment than death.” I toss him into the wall, breaking it from behind him as he vanishes into a cloud of dust.

“I think I’ll feast on their blood for hurting my Skye.” I chuckle darkly as I start stalking towards the growing crowd of demons. Within minutes I have their numbers decimated. I can feel Skye’s worry, but she’s beyond exhausted. There is so much venom in her system, she’s grown weaker. The longer my system has taken over, the faster our body will breakdown the venom. She’s already beginning to fall asleep, feeling safe for the first time in a long time.

“Are you really that dumb?” A voice calls from behind me as I begin to walk out of the palace gates.

I smirk, already planning on finishing ridding the town of this incessant demon problem since I took care of the palace. Looks like I missed one. I look behind me to see Koan standing a few feet behind me. There isn’t a hair out of place on him.

“Koan, I thought you’d still take a few moments to recover.” I turn to fully face him, noting a few hearts beating from behind the palace gates.

“As Demon Prince, you really didn’t think I’d be trained on what a Celestial Demon is? My ancestors are the ones that created them. I never thought the Celestial King would bring one to use against my Skye.”

“The Celestial King was forced into this from actions that Skye was forced to take. Her death was called for, his mercy was giving her time. Who you are was not even a thought in his mind. Skye’s fate is as much your fault, as it is my own.”

“How is what happened to her my fault?” Koan demands. “I didn’t push her actions.”

“But you didn’t stop the person who did. You encouraged it, trying to reach your own goal. You let your anger guide your actions, ignoring the consequences. Skye’s fate would be different if yours were as well. Her pending death is on your hands as well.”

“Then let me fix it. Remove yourself from her, and she’ll live.” Koan begs, his pain nearly visible.

“I would in a heartbeat if I could Koan. However, I can’t. The only one who could remove me would be the Celestial King himself. However, since I cannot cross through that veil, I cannot reach him. As long as I am in Skye, neither can she. Also, since the mortal that summoned her to this mortal plane was killed by her hands, she cannot be returned to that world.”

“Then let me remove you. All you have to do is agree to it. I can take you from her body and she will not be hurt. I can break the veil and Skye can see her friends and family again.”

“You’re an imbecile if you believe I will let you near my Skye. I know the pain you caused her. I know how her heart is destroyed. There is nothing you can say that will let me allow you to spend an eternity with her.”

“I love her!” Koan growls, his demon side beginning to show.

“You love yourself more.” I yell back to him. “You don’t deserve her.”

“She’s mine, not yours.” He screams, fangs fully descended and eyes shifting to a greying yellow.

“She’s not your property.” I shoot back, well aware he’s going to try to fight me. With the amount of power my body has siphoned from Skye, he doesn’t stand a chance.

“Then let me put it this way. As the Demon Prince, I order you, Dawn Loval, to submit to me, Prince Koan Loval.”

I stiffen as pain ricochets through my body. What is happening? Why am I bending to my knees? I try to fight as my body goes to submit. I have never done this before. In all my years, and dozens of Celestials I have lived through, this has never happened before. I don’t serve a master.

Koan chuckles, “Figured out that you’re a demon yet? A Celestial Demon may be stronger than all demons, but they are still a demon. You serve under the demon hierarchy. You are my subordinate. I order you to leave Skye Loval of the Celestial Soldiers.”

I start laughing, my head bowing to show my submission. “I already told you, you moron, the only one who can remove me is the Celestial King himself.”

“You answer to me, not that moron.” Koan roars, making my body tremble. If it wasn’t for the warmth coming from Skye, I’d probably be begging for him to forgive me. I will always protect this girl, even if it costs me my life. Skye will die from me, and I will in turn; but since I’m a demon I will be born again and wait to be placed into a new body. Skye will never come back.

“That moron, is the reason why I am inside your bledded wife, Koan. His actions were forced due to your moronic actions. I’ve already explained this to you. So tell me, how does it feel to be the cause of your wife’s death sentence? As the one doing the killing, I can tell you that this is by far the hardest thing I have ever been forced into.”

“Get out of my wife!” Koan screeches as he sprints towards me.

A low chuckle from my lips stops him milliseconds before striking me. “No matter how hard you try, you cannot beat me out of Skye. All you’ll be doing, is causing pain to her.”

“I hate you,” Koan snarls at me grabbing my throat.

“The feeling is mutual.” I look at him with a smirk in my eyes. “So what’s the plan big guy? Are you going to allow me to walk out of here with Skye unharmed, or are you going to kill us?”

“Let Skye control your body.” He demands, rage causing his hand to tremble. He truly does hate me for what I am doing to Skye. That is something we both have in common.

“Not going to happen. You’re going to let me leave here unharmed, and in turn your precious little wife. This way, Skye and I can live out the remainder of her years unbothered and quiet. Otherwise, you get to deal with me until we both die.” That is the biggest lie of my existence, but I’m pulling out all my cards to keep her safe. I may be the cause of her death, but I will not quicken it.

Koan swears as he looks at me, “You’re despicable.”

“And you’re the reason I’m here.” I smirk as he lets go of my throat.

Koan’s eyes hold a bit of humor as he looks at me, “And I’ll be the reason for your death.” He bends down so he’s at eye level with me. “Dawn Loval, Celestial Demon, I order you to return to your dormant state inside of Skye.” My eyes widen as I feel as if a knife has been inserted into my heart.

Koan catches me as I slump forward. “Now that I know exactly who and what you are, Dawn, I know how to get rid of you.” He whispers as a cold wave washes over me, causing my hold to slip.

“No,” I breathe as Skye’s exhausted being slips through me. I have to protect her. I have to save her. Koan holds up Skye’s exhausted body and starts walking back into the palace while she sleeps in his arms. I was so close to saving her and I failed.
