Chapter 37
While talking, Yulissa wanted to touch Xavier's face.
Xavier wanted to shake her hand off, but when he saw Winnie standing at the door, he changed his mind and let Yulissa touch him.
Yulissa gently touched his wound, and she felt bad for him. "Does it hurt? You have a wound here."
"No, it doesn't." Xavier massaged the spot between his brows and sat up.
He had wanted to ignore Winnie. However, she was standing at the door, so he couldn't help but glance at her.
Xavier's expression turned solemn when he realized he was looking at her. "Why did you bring her here?" he asked Josiah.
Josiah was amused. "She said she smashed something against your head last night and thought you might be dead. She wanted to see if you're still alive!"
"Is that so?" Xavier shot Winnie a look.
I only said something harsh last night, and she's already wishing for me to die. She doesn't look like she's regretting her actions. It's all right, though. After all, she's dumb, so she knows nothing. The woman who truly cares for me is Yulissa! I can tell that she's a sincere woman.
Winnie was annoyed when she saw the interaction between Xavier and Yulissa. She giggled sheepishly and said, "That's right. Winnie came to see if you've died, Handsome. If you die, there'll be a banquet!" "What nonsense are you talking about? How could you say that? You could've injured his eyes!" Yulissa choked out.
Xavier furrowed his brows when he heard that. "Save your breath, Yulissa. Don't waste your time on a dumbass. I'm going to take a bath, so just wait for me outside."
Yulissa sobbed and wiped the tears off of her face. "I'll run a bath for you."
"That's not necessary." A sense of warmth welled up in Xavier's heart, and he held Yulissa's hand. "I'm just going to take a quick shower."
"Then... do you have clothes to change into in the guest room? Should I fetch you some clothes from the master bedroom?"
"Sure." Xavier nodded. Unlike that dumbo, she's what a wife should be like. "Oh, since you're all here, let me introduce her to you." Xavier was still holding Yulissa's hand. "This is Winnie. There's something wrong with her brain, so she has the mind of a child. She just somehow got married into the family. When the time is right, I'm going to divorce her. We're just husband and wife on paper. I really hope you don't mind. Grandpa wants us to take care of her during this time, so just don't be bothered with a fool like her."
Yulissa held Xavier's hand tightly and uttered gently, "I understand why you're doing this, Xavier. You need to look after the company's reputation. I'm happy as long as we have each other in our hearts." Josiah was at a loss for words. God, that's so cheesy!
Winnie, on the other hand, was disgusted. I'm going to puke any moment now. Must they do this in public? Why can't they just do this privately? Also, why must he keep calling me a dumbass? Obviously, Yulissa wasn't done with her act.
She walked toward Winnie and took off her emerald bracelet to put it on Winnie's wrist. "Winnie, you don't mind me calling you by your name, right? I didn't plan on coming over today. When I found out Josiah was coming over, I just tagged along. Hence, I didn't bring any gifts. Please accept this bracelet."
What? I don't need that. Winnie retracted her hand.
When she retracted her hand, the bracelet was still in Yulissa's hand.
However, Yulissa suddenly let go of the bracelet and dropped it on the floor.
The emerald bracelet was fragile, so it broke into three pieces when it fell to the floor.
Yulissa was just so standing in a position that blocked Xavier's and Josiah's line of sight.
Before Yulissa could say a word, Winnie already knew what she was going to say.
Yulissa squatted down and picked up the broken bracelet, her eyes red. "Winnie, you could've just told me you didn't like the bracelet. How could you just throw it to the ground and break it? This bracelet was left behind by my mother, and it's very precious to me."
Winnie was dumbfounded. Oh? You would give a dumbass something so precious to you? What a pretentious woman! You love to act, don't you? I'll join you.
"Handsome, Specky, I didn't drop the bracelet!" Winnie burst into tears. "I really didn't! The bracelet just dropped to the floor on itself!"
If she were to say that Yulissa had purposefully dropped it, those two wouldn't believe her.
Tears were streaming down Winnie's face. Since she was so pretty, she looked rather adorable when she cried.
Josiah wanted to calm everyone down. Although he didn't exactly see what happened, he believed it was just an accident.
Yet before Josiah could do anything, Xavier scolded, "Even if you want to throw a tantrum and be dumb, there must be a limit! Apologize to Yulissa now! Otherwise, you're not getting fed today." Winnie was stumped. Is he blinded by this woman?
"Winnie didn't do anything wrong! Winnie is not going to apologize! Since Winnie is not getting fed, Winnie will just starve herself to death!" Winnie glared at Xavier before slamming the door and leaving. "How dare you!" Xavier fumed.
"Let it go, Xavier." Yulissa was quietly thrilled when she saw how angry Xavier was at Winnie. "I'll just get someone to fix it. Perhaps I was a little too emotional as well. After all, it's something my mother left for me. In fact, I feel rather bad for her. She's an adult, but she has a mind of a child. She assaulted you last night, so I don't think breaking my bracelet is that big of a deal. Like a child, she's just throwing tantrums and we have to coax her. However, you're still recovering, and you need to rest. From now on, I'll take care of you, Xavier. If Winnie doesn't mind, I can take care of her too."
"That's not necessary. I've already gotten someone to fetch her granny from the countryside. We don't need her to come between us."
"All right. You go ahead and take a shower. I'll go get your clothes."
Not long after, Yulissa arrived in the master bedroom. Instead of fetching clothes for Xavier, she was more interested in looking for Winnie.
