Chapter 355

Once Millie was done with everything, she returned to the hospital. When she reached the ward, she saw Julia sitting on the couch with a serious expression, waiting for her.

Millie instantly put her hands behind her and greeted Julia with a smile, “Hi, Mom.”

“Good to know you still remember that I’m your mother,” Julia said sarcastically before scolding Millie. “Where did you go so early in the morning? Have you fully recovered? Have you forgotten that you have multiple checkups today?”

She was furious and angrily threw Millie’s note on the ground. “Millie, you’re an adult now. Can’t you make me worry less about you?”

Millie felt embarrassed as she admitted her mistake. She regretted leaving a note and disappearing. “I’m sorry, Mom,” she whispered.

Julia huffed and ignored her.

Millie promptly sat beside her and said gently, “Mom, I’m really sorry. I won’t do this again. I’ll listen to you. I won’t leave again.”

She reassured Julia, saying, “I’ll get a check–up and only leave the hospital when I’m fully okay, alright?”

Julia gazed at Millie. As a mother, she understood her very well. Millie wasn’t the type to easily listen to her. Julia sighed, finding it difficult to be angry with her daughter, and tapped Millie’s forehead.

Millie shut her eyes, then opened them, letting out a chuckle.

Julia exclaimed unhappily, “I’ve bought you breakfast, now hurry up and eat it. Your grandparents are going to visit you later, so don’t leave again.”

“Okay,” Millie agreed. She wouldn’t leave the hospital again.

Julia left after Millie finished her meal.

Millie was waiting for her check–up and felt bored, so she went for a walk in the hospital corridor. She was wearing a hospital gown that was a bit big for her and a pair of shorts. Her black hair cascaded down her back, and her face was small and lovely.

People walking past her couldn’t help but take a second look at her, and they praised her with a smile, “She’s so pretty.”

Not many people could wear a hospital gown and still manage to look beautiful.

As Millie walked past Winston’s ward, she noticed that it was completely empty.

Several nurses came out, muttering, “Mr. Greer is so busy. Despite being unwell, he’s

still working.”

“He’s truly responsible. Achieving such success is no easy feat.”

“Has he been discharged from the hospital?” Millie asked them suddenly.

The nurse quickly turned to Millie and greeted her, “Ms. Caldwell.”

Millie stood still, awaiting their response.

“Yes. Mr. Greer mentioned he needed to leave for a business trip, so he was discharged from the hospital and left early in the morning.”

Millie was surprised that Winston went on a business trip despite his arm injury. Even though she didn’t want him involved in her affairs, she was still grateful to him.

She truly thanked him for not giving up on her in that difficult situation. However, it didn’t move her.

After that, she continued walking until she met Eli.

He greeted her warmly. “Ms. Caldwell.”

Millie nodded at him in return. “Hasn’t Winston been discharged from the hospital? Why are you here?”

“Oh, I came here to visit a friend. Mr. Greer mentioned he left something in the ward, so I also came to retrieve it.”

Millie acknowledged and asked, “Is Winston on a business trip now?”

“Yes, that’s right. He went abroad,” he replied.

She frowned. “But his injury…”

Eli could sense that Millie was worried about Winston and promptly reassured her.” Don’t worry, Mr. Greer said that he’s perfectly fine. Moreover, the overseas project is indeed an urgent one.”

Millie didn’t ask further. After expressing concern for her well–being, Eli was ready to leave. Suddenly, he recalled something and turned back to ask, “Ms. Caldwell, do you know a man named

Sonny Alpers?”

Millie stopped and gazed at Eli, thinking about the name that had been mentioned. “No. What’s the matter?” she asked, surprised.
