Harriet desperately hoped her family would soon realize she was missing. Little did she know, Millie had planned everything well.

Marvin had ingeniously texted Ethan from Harriet’s phone. He mimicked her tone, explaining that she had plans with friends for the evening and wouldn’t be back. Therefore, Harriet had to endure hanging there for ten hours.

Millie stood by the car, observing Harriet swaying in the tall building. For some unknown reason, she felt uneasy.

Marvin came after her and noticed that she was gazing upwards. He looked in the same direction and saw Harriet’s small figure. Then, he heard Millie let out a sigh. He asked, “Why are you sighing?”

Millie frowned. “It’s weird.”

Marvin was perplexed. “What’s weird?”

She placed her hand on her chest and felt a pang of guilt. Could it be because Harriet was old?

“Boss, are you getting soft? Don’t forget how she treated you.” Marvin signaled Millie to snap out of it.

Millie reflected on the few hours she had spent on top of the building. It was truly torturous. The fact of the matter was that the kidnapper had also injured Winston and involved him in the situation.

She turned and hopped into the car. “Let’s go back.”

She glanced at Marvin. “Tell your team to ensure she’s not dead. Act wisely. If she’s in critical condition, take her to the hospital or the Lowell residence.”

“Boss, you can trust me in everything.” Although he didn’t specifically say he was reliable, his statement implied just that.

Then he heard Millie say with a smile, “Don’t worry. Just turn me in if you get caught.”

Marvin was speechless that Millie still remembered the hacker incident.

“I’ll help you in hacking Greer Group again, boss. Rest assured, this time I’ll ensure a clean execution. We’ll receive 300 million from Greer Group.”

Millie rolled her eyes at Marvin. “And then I’m supposed to compensate with 300 million after that?”

Marvin was at a loss for words.

The car was silent. Then, they exchanged glances and burst into laughter.

Millie asked, “The kidnapper was in custody, right?”

Marvin nodded and hummed in response.

“I want to see him tomorrow morning.”

He was taken aback. “What? I don’t think we can see him yet.”

“I must see him tomorrow morning. Make sure you arrange for that.” She glared at him. For her, there was

no such thing as “no“. It had to be done!

Didn’t he just say that she could trust him to handle everything?

Marvin fell silent and eventually nodded. “Alright, got it. But why do you want to see him?”

Millie sneered, her eyes flashing with a hint of danger.

It was already 1:00 am when Millie returned to the hospital. Just as she was about to enter the ward, she noticed a figure seated on the chair beside her ward.

“Winston?” she exclaimed.

He looked up at Millie. He seemed worried and asked, “Where have you been?”

“Why do you want to know? Do I have to tell you everything?” Millie pursed her lips and entered her ward. Winston wanted to follow, but Millie immediately stopped him outside the door.

With a smile, she maintained a polite distance from him. “Mr. Greer, it is quite late now, and it wouldn’t be appropriate for a man and a woman to be alone in the same room.”

Winston dismissed her remark, effortlessly brushing Millie aside. He walked in as though he were returning to his familiar territory.

Millie gazed at him in frustration, longing to chop him into pieces. She reminded him, “Mr. Greer, it’s already one in the morning.”

“So what?” He turned to look at Millie arrogantly.

Millie felt like teaching him a lesson.

“Where have you been?” he asked again.

She sat on the sofa and took a bite of an apple. “I don’t think I have to answer.”
