Chapter 263

“The race has begun!” A loud shout cut off the man just as he was about to continue.

Jake clicked his tongue, annoyed that he had missed the man’s revelation. But the intense race below soon had everyone completely engrossed.

The two cars started off differently. Millie’s vehicle was noticeably slower, while Quincy quickly pulled ahead. He seemed to be taunting her as he constantly blocked her from overtaking.

In the car, Quincy scoffed. He had thought that Millie was some big deal. Yet, it turned out she couldn’t even get a good start.

He almost believed that she was a racing prodigy. Now, it appeared that the crowd’s judgment was spot- on. She was nothing but a pretty face.

Quincy couldn’t wait to see Millie cut off a finger. With that in mind, he floored the accelerator and left her in the dust.

With his arms crossed, Winston watched as the distance between the two cars increased. He couldn’t help but furrow his brows.

“Is the car in the back Richard’s?” he softly asked Jake.

Jake, as unserious as ever, gestured two “okay” signs and placed them over his eyes, saying, “I’ll use a magnifying glass to see.”

Winston rolled his eyes. Deep down, his unease lingered, and he couldn’t calm down.

“Hold on! You’re right!” Jake exclaimed, slapping Winston’s shoulder. “That is Richard’s car! What’s he doing in this race? Has a professional driver fallen from grace?”

Jake laughed as he added, “Is there any point in watching now?”

His words had barely settled when a commotion broke out nearby.

“Richard! I’m a big fan!”

“Richard, can I get an autograph?”

Winston and Jake glanced at each other before turning to look. Right then, the man lifted his head and

smiled at them.

After signing autographs for his fans, he approached them. “I knew it was you two. You both truly live up to your legendary status. It’s evident from a distance that you’re remarkable men!”

Richard Campbell, a handsome man in his 20s, stood before them at about six feet one inch, sporting a buzz cut and a stud in his right ear. He exuded a roguish charm.

“Richard, you…” Jake pointed at him and then at the car speeding down below.

Richard glanced down and answered, “I loaned my car as a gesture of respect for Mr. Greer.”

Winston frowned in response. He didn’t quite understand what Richard meant.

Richard joined them in watching the race and joked, “Mr. Greer, are you telling me you have no idea who’s in that car?”

Winston froze momentarily upon hearing that.

Richard noticed his expression and asked in shock, “You really don’t know?”

He then looked at Jake, who appeared equally bewildered. “Both of you don’t know?”

Jake couldn’t contain his curiosity and urged, “Stop beating around the bush! Who is it?”

Richard chuckled. “It’s Mr. Greer’s wife, Millie!”

As soon as those words escaped his lips, both Winston’s and Jake’s expressions froze.

“No way!” Jake reached out and placed his hand on Richard’s shoulder. “Tell me again, who’s driving your car in that race?”

Richard didn’t understand why they were so worked up. He was starting to feel somewhat puzzled himself, wondering if he had said something wrong.

But he hadn’t mistaken the driver for someone else. That woman was indeed Millie.

“I–It’s Millie.” Richard glanced at Winston and uttered, “Your wife.”

Seeing a flicker of surprise in the latter’s eyes, Richard continued, “Rachel is here as well. It seemed like. Quincy had disrespected Rachel, and Millie couldn’t bear it. That’s why she challenged him.”

Winston didn’t respond, his gaze falling upon the race scene below.

At that moment, Millie was still far behind.

Winston couldn’t believe she knew how to race and was actually in the car.

“Is Millie a racer too?” Jake asked the question Winston had in mind.

“Uh… I don’t know.” Richard rubbed his nose and muttered, “She didn’t have a car, so I loaned her mine.”
