Chapter 258
In the hospital, Selma stared at the news on her phone, her heart heavy with sorrow.
That morning, as soon as Millie and Winston left, she received a call from the courthouse. Her informant had told her that they had signed the divorce application.
Selma was truly saddened. She felt a pang of guilt when she thought about how Millie hadn’t found any joy during her time with the Greers and was now making such a sorrowful exit.
Selma let out a deep sigh, while Gloria attempted to comfort her, “Mom, don’t be too upset.”
“How could I not be sad?” Tears welled up in Selma’s eyes as she spoke. Nevertheless, her tone remained calm.
Gloria was at a loss for words, overwhelmed by her own heartache. She picked up her phone, tapped open WhatsApp, and sent several emojis to Winston.
At that moment, Winston was in a meeting at the office. When he opened Gloria’s text, he realized she. had sent him knife, bomb, and poop emojis. He couldn’t help but think that his mother was being childish.
Eli chuckled upon seeing the message. After that, he stepped out. The second he did, he received a message from the villa
security guard.
“Mr. Eli, there’s a woman waiting outside Mr. Greer’s door. She has been there for quite some time and hasn’t left.”
Eli frowned. A woman? Could it be Joanna?
He replied, “Please send me a video. Thank you.”
In no time, the security guard sent the video.
After watching the footage and confirming it was Joanna, Eli responded, “Alright, thank you.”
By the time Winston’s meeting ended, it was already 7:00 pm.
Eli told him, “Mr. Greer, Ms. Lowell is still waiting for you at the villa.”
“Let her wait,” Winston replied coldly while flipping through a contract.
Eli’s lips parted as if he wanted to say something. But ultimately, he nodded in agreement.
Winston added, “Bring all the evening tasks over.”
Eli stopped in his tracks. He wore a conflicted expression as he watched his boss walk toward the office.
“Mr. Greer, you’ve been working non–stop since you returned this morning. Don’t you want to take a break?”
Winston immediately dove into meetings upon returning to the office that morning. He even skipped
lunch at noon,
Despite conducting two meetings in the afternoon, he still intended to continue working.
Winston turned to look at Eli, his expression icy. At that sight, the latter dared not delay. He nodded and immediately briefed Winston on the upcoming tasks.

“Mr. Greer, Mrs- Eli paused briefly at the title, then amended, “Ms. Caldwell posted on Twitter today, announcing your divorce. We need to draft a response.
“Got it.” Winston frowned as he focused intently on the documents.
Seeing Winston’s troubled state, Ell refrained from further conversation and promptly left to attend to his
tasks.
Once the door closed behind him, Winston opened Twitter.
Millie’s post was concise, yet it garnered hundreds of thousands of replies and likes, comparable to those of top influencers.
Winston’s phone rang just as he was about to tose
it onto the table. It was Joanna calling.
Right then, he recalled Eli’s words. “Ms. Lowell is still waiting for you at the villa,”
Almost instantly, he left his phone on the table, picked up his suit jacket, and strode out.
Now, all that was left in the spacious office was Winston’s phone. Its screen lit up continuously with incoming calls.
Winston drove away from the office, unsure of where to go. It didn’t matter where his destination was as long as he kept moving.
He found that his mind would be in turmoil whenever he stopped. He didn’t want to admit that it was because of the divorce. Yet, all these chain reactions seemed to stem from it.
Suddenly, Winston’s phone rang. It was Jake calling. He glanced at the screen, then answered.
Jake exclaimed, “Winston, there’s a race tonight at Python Mountain. Are you coming?”
