Chapter 19
Chapter 19
Five
Eric has left the mansion to do Alpha work; this is the first day I’m alone with Logan. We
are eating breakfast in silence, but now and then, my eyes flicker to his. There is
something I need to ask him.
I
“Can I ride with you to school today?” We are college students. Well, I’m going to become one. Either way, I still call it school. It’s easier.
Logan’s eyebrows furrow as he asks, “You’re really going?”
I can sense his disbelief. He probably didn’t think I was serious when I told him and his brother I wanted to attend college a few days ago. Because what normal person likes to study? The answer: someone who has spent their entire life being an Omega and a slave to their parents. I haven’t lived like a normal teenager should.
Nervously, I tuck some hair behind my ear and look away from Logan’s intense gaze. Hesitantly, I ask, “How could I not be serious? Being an omega, I’ve never felt normal. College would give me a chance to be the person I want to be.”
“I see,” he tilts his head to the side curiously. “Well, what are you going to be studying then?”
I’m keenly aware of how close he is sitting to me, and my heart races like a herd of wild horses within me. I stare into his eyes, searching for any sign of teasing or doubt, but instead, I only find admiration and faith.
“I–I don’t know. I’ve chosen a few random courses to see what I like. Then next year, I will choose something that is more aimed towards something,” I answer firmly, feeling more
I confident by the second. “For now, I just want to take my time and live my life. Maybe even make some friends.”

Logan nods at my response, his eyes never leaving mine which sends a shiver down my spine. “That’s a great plan, Five. I’m proud of you for taking this step towards your freedom,” he says in a low voice, his hand reaching out to touch mine. It’s hard to keep still. His touch sends electric currents through my body, and my heat starts acting up again.
Fuck, why now?
My heart is pounding in my chest as I try to gather my thoughts. I’ve always found Logan attractive, and since we are mates, that’s amplified, but during my heat? He looks like sex- on–a–stick. I’m fighting like hell not to jump his bones and start undressing him on the spot.
Logan chuckles. “Is your heat acting up again?”
I nod, embarrassed. “Yeah… I’m sorry. Can you scent it on me?”
“I can, but I don’t mind,” his eyes darken. “But it makes me unwilling to leave your side while you’re strolling around campus. Maybe I should be near you today? I wouldn’t want another werewolf male to put their claim on you. Eric also wouldn’t forgive me if I left your side.’
I smile. “It’s kind of nice having two mates.”
“You think so?” Logan looks happy.
“Mhm, it makes you compete for my attention. I like that.” I grin, my body relaxing.
Logan chuckles. “Jesus, all this time you’ve been a troublemaker in disguise of a tame lamb.”
“I’m not a troublemaker,” I say innocently.

He flashes me his teeth in a smile designed to make any woman trip over their feet. “You don’t have to hide it, Five. I like this mischievous side of you.”
I wave him off. “I’m not mischievous”
Logan laughs and folds his arms behind his head. It’s hard not to stare at his massive biceps. The heat is seriously taking away my personality and making me into a slut.
“You sure you’re not a tiny bit mischievous?”
I look up from Logan’s biceps, and he pretends not to notice that he caught me checking him out. Good guy.
I somehow find words. “Y–yeah.”
Logan smirks and leans back in his chair. “Whatever you say, Five.”
A few days later, my heat is starting to die down, thank Buddha. I’ve been suffering through it for the past three days. My hormones have been in overdrive, and I’ve been acting like a filthy whore, thinking about the twins at all times. The only thing that has saved me from going overboard is that Eric hasn’t been at home, and Logan has miraculously been able to keep his paws off me.
“Five?” Logan calls from behind my door. “You had another seminar this morning, right?”
I sit up from my bed, eyes still heavy with sleep. Shit, what is the time? I must have turned off my alarm. Despite this, I shout back, “Yeah! Let me just…find clothes.”

“You’re naked?”
“Kinda…”
Logan mutters something under his breath, then says, “I will be waiting in the car.”
I grab my clothes from the floor and rush to get dressed. My hair is a mess, but I throw a hairbrush into my bag to get it sorted in the car. By the time I’m dressed and have brushed my teeth, Logan is already waiting in the driveway. His BMW is playing music on low volume, and he is scrolling on his phone while leaning his face against his knuckles.
He could be a poster.
“Sorry,” I say as l’open the door to sit down in the passenger seat. I’m still not used to being more than a maid and feel a bit out of place when I take my seat. “Did you wait long?”
“Nah,” he says. He squints his eyes at me, and I realize that I haven’t put any makeup on.
My cheeks flush a bit with embarrassment. When I was simply the maid, I wore no makeup, but now that I’ve grown closer to Logan and Eric, I find myself wanting to look pretty.
I avert my eyes, ignoring the lump in my throat and the nervous flutter in my chest. “Sorry. I didn’t realize what time it was. Are you late for any of your classes?”
“I don’t have any classes that I need to attend today. I’m not behind in any subject,” he says and turns on the engine.
I fall silent as he drives off to campus, still unused to being a student. There is so much. freedom in my life now.
“Oh, look,” Logan says when we park in the parking lot. “It’s Ada and her friends.”

er Logan or Eric. She is a power–hungry werewolf, and I bet that she doesn’t like how …..uow and know this is going to be trouble. Ada wants to marry
close I’m getting to Logan.
I glance up at him. “Can we stay in the car?”
He arches an eyebrow. “You’re not scared of her, are you? Ada is harmless.”
I swallow at that. I still haven’t told Logan and Eric about how she beat the crap out of me
with her friends and left me on the floor. They still don’t know who did that to me, and I haven’t dared to tell them it was Ada, scared that it might bite me in the back in the future. What if Logan and Eric grow bored of me and choose her instead? Since that’s a possibility, I shouldn’t rat her out to the twins.
“I know,” I say with a nod. “I’m just tired. Can we…can we go home?”
“You’re really tired?” Logan blinks, clearly not understanding the message I’m trying to send. “But we just got here, Five. Didn’t you have seminars and shit?”
“I do, but…” I hesitate. Something tells me Ada will follow me and question me as soon as Logan leaves my side. So maybe I should try to keep him with me?
“You shouldn’t just head home…” Logan drags his fingers through his hair. “Did something happen? Is that why you’re being this ridiculous?”
I plaster on a smile, but it’s weak. “Hey, would you mind coming to my seminar with me? There are so many students that the professor won’t even notice an extra pair of eyes.”
Please say yes.
Logan glances over his shoulder at Ada and her friends before turning back to me. He gives a half–hearted shrug. “Sure. I can come.” My face falls as the reality of the situation settles in: he only agreed because he saw Ada.

Does he like her?
My heart sinks at that thought.
I don’t want Logan to be interested in anyone but me.
He is mine.
Only mine.
Logan and I leave the car, and, just as expected, Ada and her friends, Giselle and Tori, stroll up to Logan with their noses lifted in the air.
“Logan!” Ada exclaims in a syrupy voice. “I haven’t seen you in forever! You haven’t joined your own pack hunts lately,” she looks at me, frowns, and turns her attention back to Logan. “And no offense, but why are you hanging out with this loser? Isn’t she your maid?”
I grit my teeth, about to growl, but then I think better of it and stand back. I know how to piss off Ada, and it won’t be pretty.
I lift my nose into the air like a know–it–all. Long noses and snarky already.” Actually, I’m Logan’s fated mate.”
All the girls gasp in response to my words. Ada even places her hand on her chest as if she is scared her heart might jump out. I feel very satisfied with myself, but then a new sort of fear coils around my throat when I realize Logan is silent. Shit. Did he want me to keep. that part a secret?
Logan turns his head towards me and places his hand on my waist. My fear evaporates like mist in the sun while Ada narrows her eyes. “So it’s true? Is Five, the weak Omega, really the mate of an Alpha?”
Logan grits his teeth until his jaw is tense and tight. “Yes,” he growls, his voice now a fierce

symphony of anger. “She is my fated mate.”
“I–I don’t understand,” Ada stutters. Her whole face hints at her clear shock and confusion. “Why did the moon goddess pick her as your mate, not me? It doesn’t make any sense. Five is weak and worthless and just a waste of a mate. She will make a terrible mate and Luna. You’re out of your mind if you mark her!”
