Shadows Of A Forgotten Spring

Chapter Billionaire Shadow 157

Chapter 157 the

The tension was palpable as Emma moved toward Alexander and Annie, her heart thudding within her chest. The weight of

past weeks weighed heavily upon her, but a bright smile stayed on her face while Jaden walked beside Iter, protectively.

No matter how convoluted things had become between her and Alexander, no matter the thousand unsaid words, the lingering attraction that sparked whenever their eyes met, she couldn't simply ignore him. Were it not for his selflessness, she wouldn't be standing here, celebrating.

Finally reaching him, she did not waste any time in embracing Alexander tightly. The crowd gasped, with murmurs of surprise rippling through it, catching even Alexander off guard with such a sudden and unexpected display.

Emma buried her face against his shoulder, the scent of his cologne washing over her, stirring up a torrent of ernotions she had thought long buried. Her stomach suddenly went into spasms of jitters, racing madly, and her simple plan had been to hug him briefly, a polite, fleeting gesture. But with each passing second, she found herself unable to let go.

Her heart was racing, thundering against her rib cage, and that old ache stirred deep inside. The memories of the night they had shared flooded into her mind unbidden and overwhelming. She could almost hear the soft, seductive words he had whispered to her that night, the words had left her breathless back then and still has a very strong effect on her now.

He had been drunk, yes, but there was tenderness to his touch, a passion that she had stupidly begun to believe was real.

Her body betrayed her now, responding to the proximity of his warmth, the strength of his arms as they hesitated for only a moment before wrapping around her waist. Alexander's touch sent a jolt through her, and she felt his breath, warm against her hair, as he inhaled deeply.

Her mind screamed at her to pull away, to stop this madness before it consumed her, but her heart and body refused to listen. The familiar yearning that she had worked so hard to suppress came rushing back, crashing over her in waves. Her pussy was wet beyond imagination. Her clit was hungry for his fingers, his tongue, and the king of it all, his COCK. She wanted him. She needed him.

Alexander's hands flexed slightly on her waist. The world was slowly fading, along with them, the noise of the crowd becoming just a hum somewhere far away.

Emma jerked back to the reality as another set of arms had wrapped around her shoulders, pulling her partly away from Alexander. The moment had shattered like fragile glass, and she turned her head to see Annie standing there, her radiant smile as sharp as a dagger, her eyes glinting with jealousy and scarcely hidden malice behind her mask.

"Congratulations, I'm so happy for you." Annie said in such a sugary sweet tone of voice.

Emma felt her chest tightén, anger bubbling under her skin, but she managed a polite smile. "Thanks," she echoed, her tone steady, yet strained. It took everything inside her, to push back, release herself from the magnetic hold of Alexander's gaze, turn away. She knew she should feel proud of herself for maintaining her composure, but deep down, her heart ached with the weight of what she wished she could do: fight for him, for her family, for the place she felt she belonged.

Every step she took away from them felt heavier, as if her very soul resisted the distance she was putting between herself and Alexander. Her mind raced, replaying the moments they shared, the undeniable connection that still lingered between them despite everything. But she felt she was moving too fast, considering the fact that Alexander hadn't told anyone about their twins, not his family, not the world.

His silence spoke volumes.

If he had truly accepted their children, if he had really embrace the idea of their future together, then shouldn't he have bellowed it from the rooftops to the whole world? He didn't. Instead, he remained silent, caught in the web of his responsibilities and his crazy attachment to Annie.

Her chest seared with suppressed emotion as she glanced over hur shoulder. Alexander still stood there, his eyes fixed on her, but Annie's presence beside him was a stark reminder of reality. He might have risked his life to save her. He might have felt the sting of betrayal upon learning the truth about their children. But none of that changed the fact that, in the end, he had made his choice.

And it wasn't her.

It was Annie.

Annie, who was carrying his precious unborn child. The very thought made Emma's stomach roil. No matter how much Alexander might care for their twins and even herself, they would always be second to Annie and her baby. Emma clenched her fists at her sides, forcing herself to keep going, even as her heart begged her to turn around and fight for him.

AAAAA

The air was cooler in the garden, though the effect was little on lulling Emma's restless mind. She had excused herself from the boisterous hall: the clinking of glasses and laughter of guests suffocating as the night wore on.

She strolled down the winding path, her fingers grazing the petals of the flowers. Their sweet fragrance wafted through the air, yet even their loveliness couldn't take her mind from the one thing that had become an obsession: Alexander. His presence lingered in her mind, a shadow she could not shake. The sound of his laughter echoed in her ears, like waves. He was the only thing that mattered now. The only person she wanted.

She paused beside a flowering rose bush, reached for a small leaf and pressed it to her nostrils to inhale the sweet scent. For a moment, she closed her eyes, allowing herself to be transported into the world of her fantasies, of a life different from what it had been, a life wherein Alexander chose her.

As she wandered further, she entered a smaller enclosure in the garden. The lights at the rented hall were dim and far away, and the place was poorly lit, only by the soft light of the moon. She stood next to the mini hall now. Stillness here was not soothing; it was eerie. A cold shiver ran down her spine, and her thoughts started getting filled with unease.

She wheeled around on her heel; time to get back to those who took their time to share her happiness, not lose herself in her crazy fantasy. She took one step forward but got frozen on her feet with the snapping sound of a branch behind her.

Before she could react, a strong hand had clutched her shoulder whirling her back and pinning her against the cold stone wall of the mini hall. The impact stole her breath, and her heart pounded wildly in her chest.

"You lost, sexy girl?" a cold voice drawled.
