Seven Years of Marriage with Jake

Chapter 5

Chapter5

I let out a sarcastic laugh, my voice indifferent and emotionless.

"Dead. Dead in the car accident while you were busy saving Emily."

Losing my child for the second time, I was much calmer than in my past life.

This was our first encounter after my rebirth.

I looked at him with icy eyes.

The love of the past seven years was gone, replaced only by bone-deep hatred.

The scene of him torturing me in my past life replayed in my mind frame by frame. My nails dug into my palms under the blanket.

I forced myself to control my emotions so as not to lose my composure in front of him.

Jake knew how much I valued and cared about our child.

So when he heard my words, he didn't believe it, his first reaction was anger.

"What are you talking about? Are you still acting?"

Sensing something was wrong, he took a step back and glanced at the ward number.

Stepping back into the room, he questioned me:

"Shouldn't you be in the obstetrics department? Why are you in the emergency room? What's going on?"

His obvious blaming tone was as if I had made some huge mistake.

As if I had taken up the precious medical resources of their department.

Mr. Larson saw this scene and couldn't bear it any longer.

He couldn't believe that this was the doctor he had personally trained.

Taking a few deep breaths, he scolded angrily:

"Is this your responsibility as a husband? You can't even recognize your own wife, no wonder you can ignore a call for help! How can I trust you with patients? Get out of here now and apologize to the media!" Jake's eyes widened, and he said confidently:

"Apologize for what? What she said is fake, just let her explain it!"

"What crime have I committed? My only crime is finding this woman who is unreasonable and constantly driving me crazy!"

Mr. Larson was so angry that he couldn't catch his breath, his chest heaving violently.

The disappointment in his eyes grew stronger and stronger.

He directly took out his phone and found the video online.

He placed it in front of Jake and pressed play.

The scene of me crawling out of the car window was very clear.

The rising white smoke could not be faked.

The ground was stained red with blood.

My bulging belly was squeezed out of shape.

The video ended with an explosion.

Jake's standing body swayed weakly.

His gaze was fixed on the screen for a long time, unable to recover.

It was two minutes later when he finally found his voice.

He turned to look at me, his eyes no longer filled with accusations, but with a hint of guilt and evasion.
