Selene Goddess of the Moon

MARTHA'S POV

I woke up in a not-so-familiar room. I roamed my eyes and notice a little classy and old-style of it, and then I realize which room I was in is, I check the time. Shoot! It is already 8 am. I need to go to work!

Upon standing to take myself out of the room, I saw prepared clothes beside my bed. I believed that it was for me and, since I don't have time to waste, I have no choice but to wear them. I am aware that I am here at Ms Selene's house, so after wearing the clothes I quickly descended the staircase and was surprised to see her at the dining table.

"Better hurry, your work time will start anytime soon. Have your breakfast so we can go."

As usual, she seriously reminded me again like nothing special happened last night, when she cried a lot and I was there to look after her!

"Y-Yes ma'am,"

I simply said, then sat at the dining table to have my breakfast.

While eating, I can't help myself but notice her actions and gestures. I mean, this is the first time I will eat breakfast with her.

She is really sophisticated in what she does, the way she eats and everything. Is she like this even when in bed? Classy when she sleeps? Oh, speaking of sleep, I kind of wonder how I got to that room. It is impossible for her to lift me to the room. If she is, I will probably wake up and, besides, I don't think she has the strength to lift me.

Well, whatever happens, I bet she did something to put me in that room so I don't need to bother myself about it!

After we eat, we head our way out and get in the car. I have sat beside her since the last time she commanded me to do that, so this time I already knows the drill.

While on the way to the office, I suddenly remember the dinner at Ms Valerie's house and I didn't know how to ask Ms Selene's approval, though I know we don't have any schedule for later until 6 pm so I guess I can go for the dinner and she, on the other hand, can go home.

When we got to the office, I quickly fixed my things on my table and Ms Selene just silently sat on her chair and started doing all her paperwork. I can see how busy she is, she didn't even rest for a second, and she continuously does her work while I am finishing all the data that needs to be encoded.

While we were both in the middle of working, her phone rang and quickly answers it.

"Gust, status?"

She asks.

"So, the origin is in Pampanga? Alright, that's a good job Gust, call me for another update."

She said again, dropping the call.

It is true that Gust is busy with something, which is very important and confidential. I heard Pampanga! Where the place I should forget!

When she dropped the call, I quickly turned my eyes away from her. I don't like her to know how nosy I am, though I admit that sometimes.

I instead checked the time and it was already time for lunch. I am starting to fix my things and get ready to get out to have my lunch when Ms Valerie enters the office for some papers to be signed by Ms Selene, then she turns her gaze on me and I just simply smile at her.

"Hey pretty, want to grab some lunch?"

She said, standing in front of my table, that I didn't even notice and, since it was already lunch, why not accept her invitation, so I told her to wait for me outside.

After Ms Valerie left the office, I stood up and invited Ms Selene to have lunch.

"We will be having our lunch, Ma'am, you can join us!"

I smilingly said, but she never turned her gaze on me and was still busy doing things.

Like the usual, same old bitchy attitude at its best! I just breathe out air to calm myself, then turn my back on her and walk towards the door to get out.

Honestly, if I only had millions to pay her, I would resign! I thought we were now on good terms. I mean she cries all night on my lap and I look after her, and now here she is. Back to her same personality, rude ass bitch!

I was about to turn the knob when she said something.

"I hope you haven't forgotten what I told you about trusting people you just met. It doesn't mean hearing some sweet words means you're already special overnight,"

She said an inch away from me; I don't know how she got this near to me. I mean, I just saw her sitting in her chair and now she is standing in front of me.

After saying those words, she then grabs her coat, then holds the knob and just suddenly leaves me inside the office.

I was shocked at what happened. I just really don't get it. Did she just move fast? But I should at least hear her footstep towards my back and those words again. She indeed has a very serious trust issue, I guess!

Since I didn't have any answer to my entire question in mind, I just let it pass and, instead, got out of the office and met Ms Valerie who was waiting for me.

SELENE'S POV

While on the road, I am still thinking about my attitude towards Martha having friends with Valerie; it is so unusual for me to feel something about other people's business.

On the way home, I let Martha stay for a while at the house, since I needed to discuss an important function that Martha should know.

I let my servants go to sleep since Martha can already attend to my needs, but it seems like Martha will be the one who needs my help since I can sense how hungry she is now.

"She's hungry" I mumbled, so I dialled my phone and ordered fast food.

I left Martha downstairs and headed to my room. I poured a cup of blood right away since I was so thirsty and hungry all the way home, I couldn't manage to answer all Martha's questions since I really felt dizzy and damn hungry. I can't eat human food right away without drinking a cup of blood.

When I walked downstairs and saw the food that I ordered, like a human, I craved it and felt hungry even more; I used to eat human food even before providing that I had enough blood to drink before eating.

After eating, I started to discuss all Martha's other important functions and the lady seemed to get it. Good thing she is a fast learner!

After a minute, she suddenly spoke, asking me something.

"Ahem... ma'am, can I ask you a personal question?"

"Go ahead," I said, though I was a little bit surprised about this. What a nosy cat!

"Ahem, any plans of settling down? Plans to love someone?"

Martha asked and I was caught off guard by the question, but I did not answer since I didn't know what to say in the first place and I just continued drinking my wine.

"It's okay if you don't like to answer. I shouldn't have asked you that in the first place though. I was just worried about you for some reason,"

Martha said in a low voice.

"Worry about what?"

I asked with a confused look.

"The sadness in your eyes, even if you smile or you laugh, I can see that within you, there is something there, a mixture of pain and hurt. I am not being a smart ass, but I am worried about your sadness. I have that kind of sadness too, but I know I can handle it, but you, I feel like you are not fighting it, you are entertaining it instead."

I was caught off guard again by what Martha said. I turned my gaze and buried my eyes on her. I didn't know what was going on, but an unusual emotion within me wanted to come out.

When Martha touches my face, I feel the warmness of her hand that makes me close my eyes, sensing every tiny soft skin of her palm, this warm feeling that I never felt before, living in a cold dark life as a vampire. This is the first time that I ever encounter this.

I can't help it anymore, the pain of my past turned my heart into stone, and my life was struggling to live normally. I never asked for someone's care after my life changed, but for the first time, I felt that someone was there for me to feel my pain.
