Secrets Of The Neglected Wife: When Her True Colors Shine

Chapter 82

“Colton!” Melany rushed over, a flash of panic in her eyes as she tried to help him to his feet.

He was lying on the ground like a puppet with its strings cut, his body in a tangle.

His wrist, nearly shattered, sent a stabbing pain through his bones at the slightest movement.

Cold sweat ran down his forehead as he struggled to gather his thoughts and form words.

“You’ve gone too far!” Melany’s voice cracked as her jaw clenched and her eyes burned with fury.

Who could have foreseen Kellan’s sudden appearance, let alone his man breaking Colton’s wrist in broad daylight? His gaze shifted to the security cameras outside the building, and a fleeting hope rose in his chest.

“This is assault! You broke the law.

Kellan responded with a slight chuckle, clearly amused by her accusation.

His mood was almost light-hearted.

“Oh yeah? Of course, file a complaint or call the police.

You won’t find any witnesses though.

And don’t you realize? Unfortunately, the cameras are broken.

Melany's face drained of color and her body froze in place.

Everyone knew Kellan had connections in both high society and the darkest corners.

Legalities, in his world, were mere formalities.

“Mr.

Lloyd,” Melany stammered, her voice shaking, “what exactly have we done to offend you?” Her attempt at diplomacy was laced with fear, but Kellan didn’t even spare her a glance.

“Offend me? You haven’t offended me.

I’m just in a bad mood today,” he said indifferently.

Allison couldn't help but laugh at his blatant arrogance.

Kellan didn't seem to really care.

Without even turning his head, Kellan handed Colton a card.

“For your hospital bills.

The card landed with a humiliating thud on Colton’s face before falling to the ground.

The gesture was so insulting that even words couldn’t have captured its full meaning.

Colton opened his mouth, ready to scream curses, but the movement pulled at his broken wrist, and a sharp gasp of pain escaped him instead.

Watching Colton and Melany wallow in their misery, Allison felt a rare flash of satisfaction.

Silently, she pulled out the small sword she had kept hidden and turned her attention to Kellan.

"And what brings you here, Mr.

Lloyd?"

Kellan raised a hand, casually swinging a bag.

“She forgot it when she left.

I thought there might be something important in it, so I thought I’d give it back to her.

Allison blinked, momentarily surprised.

She had been so preoccupied with scanning the house’s decor for clues that she had completely forgotten about her purse.

Luckily, she hadn’t left anything of value in it.

Colton listened to their exchange, though, and the ease with which they conversed was like a punch to his gut.

The familiarity, the way they interacted… it was undeniable.

They were closer than he had ever imagined.

At that moment, the painful truth hit him like a freight train.

They were together.

Fueled by rage, Colton ignored the sharp pain in his wrist and staggered forward, taking several unsteady steps.

He was careful not to get too close to Kellan.

Through gritted teeth, he spat, “So it’s true! You’re living together.

” The pain in his wrist made his knees weak, and though he hadn’t yet gone to the doctor, he knew for a fact that his wrist was broken.

“Allison, how long has it been since our divorce? Were you already looking for your next man while we were still together?”

Colton's fury was palpable as he looked at Kellan, who seemed completely unfazed by the accusation.

Then, as if a lightbulb went off in his memory, Colton recalled how, during that infamous yacht trip, Allison had coldly broken a thug's arm without a second thought.

She had then thrown money at the bully, ignoring it as payment for her medical bills.

It hit him like a tidal wave: Allison's behavior and Kellan's were eerily similar.

The same indifferent look, the same utter disregard for his anger.

Her outbursts, her fury, were nothing more than the wind blowing past them, irrelevant and beneath his notice.

Even their generosity in paying her medical bills was a gesture of disgust rather than concern.

They simply wanted to wipe their hands of her, as if her suffering was a stain that didn't matter to them.

Melany, who was still clinging to Colton, showed a face of pure indignation.

“That’s it! How can you treat us like that?” she hissed, her frustration boiling over.

“And Mr.

Lloyd,” Melany continued, her voice rising, “when we were in Athton, I thought that I was only helping Allison out of a desire for peace, that I simply didn’t want her to be bothered.

But now, seeing how close you two are, it’s clear that this is more than just friendship, isn’t it? You always said that you weren’t interested in…”

"Women, but here we are! Even if you've been with her, that doesn't mean you can take it out on us!"
