Secret Scion

Chapter 105 -

Dove had been living with Castor Yaeger for a few days since she arrived at the Capital City. When they reached the neighborhood, she asked, "Would you like to join me for a cup of tea?" "It's getting late. I'll pass on the offer. Please pass Castor a message for me. I'm not the kind of person to burn bridges. He aided me back in Rollinsford. Now that he has come to the Capital City, he should seek me out if he runs into trouble." With that, Asher lit a cigarette and left. In an orthopedic hospital.

After Tristan had fled the tavern, he had to go to the hospital for an examination due to the stabbing pain in his shoulder. It had been fractured in multiple places, and his clavicle bone also showed similar signs. He needed surgery as soon as possible.

The Andersons hurried to the hospital when they received the news.

"Who made you this way, Tristan? How could they have done this? Tell me who it is, and I'll have my men get them!" The one who spoke was a middle-aged man with a stocky build and a rotund belly. He had stern eyes and his hair was cropped short.

He was Edward Anderson, Tristan's third uncle and the chief of a police station.

The plump noblewoman next to him had a pained expression as she looked at Tristan. "Tell us, Tristan. Who did this? Your uncle will avenge you."

Tristan seemed at a loss as he answered, "It was Griffin Quinn, Ma."

"Griffin!" Hearing this, Edward's countenance scrunched up, revealing a solemn expression. Tristan's mother asked, "Who is Griffin Quinn? Does he have an influential background?"

A middle-aged man in glasses grunted, "Why is a woman like you interfering? Is it up to you whether or not vengeance will be repaid?"

Edward frowned. "Brother, she's just worried for Tristan. Why are you yelling at her?" Savannah, who was seated on a stool at the side, spoke up. "You usually spend your days at home, dear aunt. It's normal for you to not know who Griffin is. He's Harlow Quinn's grandson. Forget Tristan. That guy has beaten up several scions from second-rate families. It'll be difficult for us to get revenge on him."

"Harlow Quinn's grandson?" Tristan's mother gaped with fear in her eyes. "Doesn't that mean Tristan got beaten up for nothing? Savannah, you're the most capable one among your cousins. Can't you do anything to help him?"

Savannah turned to face her. "You overestimate me, Aunt. I wouldn't dare to match up to Griffin no matter how capable I am. Besides, Griffin may be impulsive and irritable, but he wouldn't hit someone for no reason. Why don't you ask Tristan why he hit him in the first place?"

It was only then that Tristan's mother thought to ask, "You're right. Why did Griffin beat you up, Tristan?"

How could Tristan possibly reveal how he tried to force himself onto Dove? He thought about it before saying, "I went to Riverside Tavern with a few friends to drink in the evening. Griffin and Asher happened to be there as well. I just raised my voice a little and Griffin claimed that I was bothering them, so he beat me up. He's way too arrogant, Mom and Dad! He actually had the guts to hit me! He clearly doesn't respect the Andersons!"

Tristan's father, Ethan Anderson, propped up his glasses and muttered with a grunt, "That bastard. What's the use of the law if he can beat up anyone he likes whenever he feels like it?" "Having said that, the Quinns are far too powerful. We can't afford to mess with them," Edward said.

"This isn't a matter of whether or not we can mess with them. That kid from the Quinn household is pissing on our heads. Our dignity is being trampled! I can't tolerate it any longer. I will make him pay the price even if he's Harlow's grandson!" Ethan expressed through gritted teeth. Hearing this, Edward said nothing more. He just sighed to himself.

Savannah spoke up afterward. "Set aside your thoughts of revenge, Uncle. Treating Tristan's injuries is far more important. I heard the doctor mentioning that he'll be going into surgery early next morning. It's getting late. You should head home and get some rest. I'll take care of Tristan."

Tristan's mother said, "How could we possibly impose on you, Savannah? You should go home and get some rest. I can stay to take care of him."

"Aunt, Tristan won't be able to get out of bed for some time after the surgery. It won't be too late for you to take care of him then."

"I'll have to trouble you then, Savannah." Ethan shot Tristan a glance before leaving.

It did not take long before Savannah and Tristan were the only people left in the ward. The woman turned to make herself comfortable on the stool and crossed her legs before giving her cousin a look. "The elders are gone. Are you going to tell the truth now?"

"You saw through my lies?" Tristan scrunched up his face. It truly felt as if nothing could be kept a secret from Savannah.

"Your acting skills are terrible. They're enough to fool the elders, but you'll have to do more than that just to fool me." There was a slight frown between her brows. "Uncle seems determined to avenge you. You clearly know how powerful the Quinns are. If the fault lies with Griffin, you'll still be fine, but if you provoked him, the Quinns will be hounding us. The ones who will suffer will be our entire family, not just you."

Tristan got scared when he heard her words. After hesitating for a few seconds, he told her the truth.

"You've screwed things up for us!" Savannah's expression was grim. "Did the elders spoil you so much that you decided that it was okay to go out and make a fool out of yourself?"

Seeing how furious Savannah was, Tristan stammered in fear, "You haven't seen Castor's sister for yourself! She's so beautiful! My heart was swayed the moment I laid eyes on her!"

"You have the audacity to keep rambling about her, huh? Believe me, your father is going to hear about this!"

"Sav, please..." Tristan was quick to forget about his fractured arm in the heat of the moment. He wanted to sit up, but as soon as he shifted his shoulder, he felt a bone-piercing pain traveling down his arm and could not help but cry.

"Sav, please don't tell my father! He'll break my legs for sure!"

Savannah could not bear to be heartless when she saw just how miserable Tristan was. He may lack discipline, but he was still her cousin.

"Then again, even if it's your fault, why did he beat you up? This matter has nothing to do with him. Isn't that just bullying?"

"That's right! With me being beaten up this way, you'd lose respect among your peers as well. Why don't we work together and show him what we can do? The Quinns may be powerful, but don't you have Rose on your side? There's no need for us to fear Griffin," Tristan encouraged. Savannah flashed him an angry glare. "Are you trying to drag me down with you?" "No, no! That wasn't what I meant."

After a moment of silence, Savannah narrowed her eyes and said, "Griffin has repeatedly messed with us. If this keeps up, he will eventually have beaten us all up. It's high time we think of a solution."

The next day after Tristan's surgery, Savannah drove to the Schmidt residence to meet Rose and speak her mind.

Rose raised a brow after hearing everything. "You know what kind of background Griffin hails from. It'll be hard for you to avenge Tristan. Maggie and Garrett are also getting engaged. There can be no blunders in the matter. I'm afraid I won't be able to help you."

Rose was smart and knew that Savannah was here to ask for help. That was why she took the opportunity to politely refuse her before she could speak. Tristan offending Griffin was simply not worth it.

Savannah could not help but feel disappointed. She, however, had not fully expected Rose to lend a hand. Griffin's background was there for all to see, and the Andersons were simply a third- rate family. Standing up for the Andersons was simply not in her interest.

"So, Mr. Schmidt and Maggie will be engaged? Congratulations, Miss Schmidt. Once the Schmidts and Lanes are tied together, the Harrisons will cease to be a problem. When's the occasion? I'll come join in on the fun," Savannah said with a smile.

"It'll be within the next two days."

"Excellent. Once the date is determined, don't forget to let me know, Miss Schmidt. I'll be off

now."

"Hold on." Rose suddenly stopped Savannah in her tracks. She hesitated before asking, "Do you already have a way to deal with Griffin?"

"I do have a way, but I'm not sure if it will work. I haven't had much of an interaction with Griffin, but I know quite a bit about his escapades. I heard that Griffin and a scion of the MacQuoid family almost got into a fight in the luxury car club. The MacQuoid's scion is also one who isn't afraid of anything."

Rose gave Savannah a thoughtful look and was quick to guess what was on her mind. She pondered before speaking, "Jeremiah MacQuoid just turned eighteen this year. He's at the age where he would be the most frivolous. The MacQuoids are also quite a big name. It's not surprising that he would act openly. Are you able to manipulate Jeremiah into messing with Griffin?"

"I'll give the idea a spin now that I've come up with it. Who knows if it will succeed?" Savannah revealed a faint smile. It was clear that she was still quite confident in herself.

Rose did not try to stop Savannah. She would also not be interfering in any way. If Savannah could make Griffin suffer some losses, would it not be a good thing? Even if Griffin ended up looking to trouble Savannah, it had nothing to do with her.
