Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter My Troubles 91

Chapter 91

The next day, Nadia went to make her rounds. Homer's condition had gradually stabilized, and he could be transferred to a regular room.

Once again, Warren appeared out of nowhere. "Little genius, have you thought about it? Do you want to be my PhD student?"

Nadia jumped, startled. "Mr. Townes, how do you manage to pop up everywhere?"

"How would I get your attention if I don't do this?" Warren replied, grinning

Nadia was at a loss for words. She didn't want to disturb Homer's rest, so she found a quiet spot to talk to Warren.

"Mr. Townes, I'm sorry. I've carefully thought about it. I do want to pursue my PhD, but I have a mentor in mind, so..."

Warren looked as if he had been struck by lightning. "Who? Who's trying to steal my future student?"

Nadia lowered her gaze. "Cyrus Linden."

Warren stood frozen for a moment. "Mr. Linden?"

He paused, then nodded in recognition. "Of course... Mr. Linden is an outstanding figure. If you become his PhD student, your future achievements will be limitless.

"But we've always been good friends, so if you encounter any academic problems, feel free to

ask me."

Nadia bowed deeply in gratitude. "Thank you, Mr. Townes."

Warren quickly waved his hand. "No need for all that! Actually, I just want to make it up to you.

"About the surgery for Mr. Barton Senior... I wanted you to come...

"It was your belief in combining modern and traditional medicine that allowed me to trust you," Nadia interjected, but Warren wasn't offended. Instead, he lowered his head in humility. "You're a good child."

Nadia smiled, burying any past grievances. She was grateful to Warren for allowing her to shine and save her career. Sometimes, in pursuing wealth and success, Warren had truly been a benefactor to her. After finishing up at the hospital, she rushed to the kindergarten as soon as she finished work. When Norman got dropped off at school, Eddie had already arranged for the necessary

costumes and props to be delivered. She only needed to use the kindergarten's changing room.

Not long after, she was dressed in the clown costume, carrying a clown's treasure chest.

Norman was the miniature version of a clown, holding her hand as he bounced around, looking utterly adorable.

As soon as Mick got out of the car, he spotted Mona's car parked not far away. When she saw him, Mona quickly got out of the car and ran over to him.

"Mick, why didn't you wait for me?" She spoke while reaching for his arm.

In the past, they would attend the kindergarten events together. To many, they appeared to be Ted's parents. But today, Mick instinctively pulled his arm away. "Be mindful of your celebrity image in public."

Mona felt a sudden pang in her chest. No matter how many celebrities they'd encountered here before, he had never acted so distant.

"Mick, are you in a bad mood?"

"No."

He was actually in a good mood. He was already imagining that Nadia would willingly dance. with him soon, would soften, and promise never to divorce him again. Mona felt uneasy. "Mick, are things not going well with Nadia? I don't intend to ask her for money. Please don't be too harsh with her."

Mick looked around at the many parents in the kindergarten. Most of them were paired off. Even if they argued at home, they had to put on a united front when they were out in public Compared to that, he realized he hadn't really given Nadia the respect she deserved as Mrs. Wilcher.

He thought to himself that, when he saw her later, he would invite her to dance. After all, while she was involved with Nelson, it was Nelson who had ulterior motives, not her. Enjoy Ad-Free Reading>>
