Chapter My Troubles 28
Chapter 28
Nydia's heart trembled at Norman's words.
Her biological child, Ted, wished to push her away, yet a child with no biological ties to her wanted nothing more than to stay by her side.
It seemed that contrary to belief, blood ties didn't matter as much. It was more about attracting like-minded people and gravitating toward each other. "You rascal. I think you just want me to cook medicinal meals for you.
"So, will you cook them for me, Ms. Vega?"
"Well since you want it that much, I suppose I can oblige."
Norman hopped up in delight. "That's great! You're the best!"
By the time they returned to the villa with the herbs, it was only half past six in the morning. Nydia sorted the herbs and began preparing them
Just as she started, she received a call from an unknown number. It was a local number, and
she was worried it might be from a patient, so she picked it up without hesitation.
The moment the call connected, a familiar voice came through. Unlike the arrogance she remembered, the voice was much softer and reminded her of how Mick had been when they'd first gotten married. He'd been calm and gentle. "Nydia," Mick called out her name. It'd been a long time since he'd spoken to her so calmly.
Nydia couldn't pinpoint when exactly they'd started clashing whenever they met. Even their conversations over the phone ended up in arguments. It was exhausting.
"The cooling-off period hasn't ended yet, Mr. Wilcher." She wished he'd stop calling or meeting her before the divorce was finalized.
Mick let out a low chuckle. "So, you're reluctant to let the cooling-off period end."
Before Nydia could respond, he continued, "Never mind that for now Ted is sick and needs.
your care."
Nydia's grip on her phone tightened. Though she'd resolved to sever ties with Ted, he was her child. It was impossible for her to let go in such a short time.
"He misses you. We're at Ral Valley Hospital. You'd better come as soon as possible." His commanding tone snapped Nydia out of her momentary daze, and her expression dimmed.
"I don't think Ted would want me to care for him. Or to be exact, he probably doesn't want to see me at all.

"He's made his choice, and I'd rather not go against his wishes."
Mick immediately retorted, "Don't you understand that a child says literally anything on his mind? Are you taking a kid's words to heart? Aren't you being a little too petty with a child? "I'll give you an hour. By the time it ends, you must show up for Ted.
"If you do, I'll give you a chance to stay in the Wilcher family. But if you insist on being stubborn, we'll finalize the divorce in half a month. I'll never have any feelings for you again!" Nydia moved the phone slightly away from her car. She found his voice grating and felt annoyed.
"Even if Ms. Poole refuses to take care of him, what about you? You're his father, so isn't this your responsibility? "Plus, my decision to divorce you was made after careful thought. I hope you can take it seriously," she retorted. "Nydia, are you perhaps saying you refuse to come?"
"That's right," Nydia replied. "Someone as capable as you surely wouldn't need my help, would you, Mr. Wilcher?" ""You'll regret this!"
"I won't!" With that, she hung up.
But after ending the call, Nydia found herself staring at her phone lost in thought.
Norman noticed her being in low spirits and asked, "Are you leaving, Ms. Vega?"
Nydia didn't respond. Her mind was a chaotic mess, and she was unsure of what she was longing for.
"Can I come with you? I just wanna stay with you."
