Chapter 359

Chapter 0359

Nicholas didn’t return to the bedroom for a long time wasn’t going to go looking for him. My mind was a mess, and I couldn’t sleep

I had been staying up for over three hours. It was almost dawn when there was a sudden loud noise in the house. I instinctively jumped out of bed.

The voice was like something falling on the ground. Since Nicholas was still recovering, I thought maybe he had knocked something over

I staggered and rushed out while calling his name, but there was no reply.

I found him passed out on the floor of his study, where the lights had been turned off long ago. He had fainted from a fever. I immediately called the doctor, who administered an IV drip to him.

“Mr. Hawk’s fever is quite high. Please use some alcohol to rub him down to help lower his temperature I’ve applied a cooling patch to his forehead. Change it every hour. Once his fever breaks, he should be fine.

I stood by Nicholas’s bed and listened to the doctor’s instructions. In just a short moment, his lips cracked from the fever. I gently dabbed some water on them with a cotton swab.

“Doctor, could you take a look at this?”

I handed him a medicine box I had found on the study floor. The box looked recently opened, with three pills already missing. Nicholas’s sudden fever worried me, and I wondered if it was related to the medication.

The room fell silent, except for the soft rustling of the doctor examining the box. After a moment, he frowned and handed it back to me.

“It’s likely some kind of medication to stabilize emotions. It helps with anxiety and calming the mind. Nothing too serious.

“But Mrs. Hawk, no matter who’s taking it, make sure they stick to the prescribed dose. These types of medications can have serious side effects.”

The doctor lowered his eyes and averted his gaze. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”

“Thank you, doctor. I’ll walk you out. One of our maids must have been hiding their condition. We’ll no longer be able to employ them if that’s the case.”

“That would be wise. Anyone taking this kind of medication might not have full control over their emotions. They could have violent outbursts without warning. It’s best not to keep someone like that in your home.”

I gave him a polite smile as I saw him out, my mind racing. No one could find out about Nicholas taking this medication. If the news got out, the Hawk Corporation’s stock would plummet.

But why was he taking this medicine?

I had heard from Claudia that he had shown signs of being autistic as a child. However, I had no idea it had become severe enough to take any medication. In our four years of marriage, I had never seen him take anything like this.

When I returned to the bedroom, Nicholas startled me by opening his eyes. His voice was hoarse, and his gaze icy.

“Did I pass out?”

I remained calm and nodded.

He looked up and let out a long sigh. “Come to bed. Let me hold you while I rest. My head hurts.” Maybe it was just my imagination, but Nicholas’s mood seemed extremely dark. “You should get some sleep first. I’ll get/some alcohol to rub you down.”

“There’s only wine in the house. Just come to bed, Holding you to sleep will be enough.”

Considering his condition and the pills, I didn’t reject him and sat on the bed. But before I could even lift the blanket, he pulled me into his burning embrace.

Lying there stiffly in the dark, I blinked, and it felt like an eternity before his breathing finally evened out.

I carefully unlocked his phone using his fingerprint and sent Beth a message in his tone, “The medicine’s finished. Send two more boxes to the new place.”

had planned to probe her with a few questions, but before I could, Beth called.
