Chapter 114 Making Headlines Again
I yanked my arm free and took a step back, putting my guard up. Levi immediately moved in front of me, shielding me.
Seeing Jeremiah's persistence, a thought struck me, and I smirked. "Looks like Elsa went to your house."
His reaction confirmed my suspicion. The only reason the Cornell family would be pressuring him was that Elsa had gone to the Cornell residence and revealed my connection to LunaGlo.
Judging by the look on Jeremiah's face, I was right.
Sometimes, I really couldn't understand Elsa's thought process.
If she just waited for Jeremiah and me to finalize our divorce, she could get exactly what she wanted. But no, she was truly willing to go to such great lengths to maintain her saintly image.
"If she loves your family so much that she has to report everything to you, why don't you just marry her after our divorce?"
For a moment, something flickered in Jeremiah's eyes, but he quickly masked it. "My relationship with Elsa isn't as twisted as you think."
I let out a sharp laugh. "Twisted? That's how you see it?"
I checked the time. We were running late.
Stepping forward, I shoved him aside. "I don't have time for your nonsense. Just get ready for court."
I heard Jeremiah's footsteps behind me, trying to catch up. Too bad for him, Levi was right there.
Jeremiah had no choice but to give up.
Without Jeremiah's interference, my life was hectic but peaceful.
For days, Levi and I were buried in work, finalizing every detail of the studio's renovation. Soon, we would be ready for the grand opening.
I had almost forgotten Elsa even existed—until she showed up at the front door of my studio.
"Jane, where's Levi?" The moment Elsa saw me, she blinked curiously, her face full of innocence.
"What do you want?" If I had known I would run into her today, I would have gone with Levi to meet the suppliers instead.
Elsa looked at me with pitiful, wide eyes, the picture of innocence. "Jane, don't be so mean to me. I just haven't seen you in a while and wanted to check in."
Her gaze lingered at the entrance of the studio, and I could see the longing in her eyes. Even now, she still hadn't given up on the idea of joining LunaGlo.
I met her attempt at friendliness with cold indifference. "If there's nothing else, I'm leaving."
Elsa quickly stepped forward, reaching out to grab me.
I sidestepped her touch, frowning as I looked at her warily and voiced the question on my mind, "You don't seriously think I'd let you into LunaGlo, do you? What makes you think you deserve it? Every designer here is the best in the industry."
Elsa pouted, looking wounded. "Jane, I'm just asking for a chance. I know you hate me, but I really admire Shirley. I'd love the opportunity to work with her."
Hearing that name, I nearly laughed. I would love to see the look on her face when she found out Shirley was me. But now wasn't the right time to make that reveal.
"When you finally understand what real design is, then come talk to me."
Just a few words with her had drained me.
Back home, I was just about to throw myself onto my soft, cozy couch when a video call from Natasha popped up.
"What's up?" I answered casually, holding my phone loosely while closing my eyes to rest.
Natasha's panicked voice came through the speaker. "No time for rest! Resting is for the dead! Check online right now! You're in the headlines again!"
Hanging up, I immediately opened the page. Sure enough, my name was trending at the top.
