Chapter 1034
"Freddie, how did he really die?"
In the bedroom, Sophie turned to Colby, hoping to confirm her suspicions.
"It wasn't Jenna who killed him."
Colby's tone was measured as he began to explain, "Freddie's company was taken over by Jenna. Although he still had the title of CEO, he was basically a puppet with no real power, all thanks to Jenna's scheming. Freddie was drowning in debt due to a project gone wrong, all masterminded by Jenna. When he found out that all his assets had been transferred to Jenna's name, he lost it in his office and eventually chose to jump from the building, committing suicide."
Sophie quickly honed in on the critical detail, asking, "Did Freddie jump on his own, or did Jenna push him into it?"
"Even you're questioning it, and so will everyone else."
Colby walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, gently touching the glass, and said, "Jenna gave Freddie two options. One was to jump from the office window, and she'd pay off his debts. The other was to cut all ties with him, leaving him to be beaten to death by his creditors."
Sophie shook her head, remarking, "Both options mean death. That's so Jenna."
"Freddie chose to jump. Jenna, in the end, had a change of heart and tried to save him. However, Freddie tried to push Jenna off the building instead. It was Freddie who accidentally fell. The CEO's suicide caused quite a stir back then, but nobody knew the real story."
"Was there a witness?"
"Adler was a witness. He saw the whole thing," said Colby.
In the next room, Jenna leaned against the bay window. Adler draped a blanket over her shoulders, saying, "James has no evidence. He's just spouting nonsense. Don't take it to heart." "Was I wrong to seek revenge?" Jenna whispered. "No, I'm not wrong."
"You were right. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. He killed Mrs. Johnson, so he deserved to be punished. He even tried to kill you. It's all his own doing."
Adler suddenly remembered when Jenna was very young, sent to the Costello family by Mrs. Johnson. Jenna was different back then, not only quiet but also timid around everyone.
The Tredgold and Costello families
were close, and he often went over to play. Sometimes during the holidays, he'd even take Jenna with him to Burke Estate. After a year or two, Jenna finally started to show a cheerful and outgoing personality.
But it wasn't long before Freddie married another woman and had a new daughter, and then Jenna was sent abroad by Freddie, a separation that lasted ten years.
When Jenna returned, her first move
was to dismantle the Dennis family, sending Freddie's new wife and daughter abroad. Freddie's downfall soon followed, with the Dennis family falling into Jenna's hands.
In terms of business smarts, Jenna was certainly no less capable than Sophie.
The struggles she endured abroad were never shared with anyone.
But Adler knew, Jenna wasn't naturally gifted. Things they would pick up instantly took Jenna several attempts to grasp. Yet, to avenge her mother and punish Freddie she worked incredibly hard during those years abroad.
