Chapter 1032
Upon hearing this, the room erupted in gasps.
"What the heck is James doing? Didn't he already sign a contract with Sophie?" someone exclaimed.
Adler was beside himself with rage. "How could he back out at the last minute?"
Sophie frowned, her mind racing.
Jenna, her face darkening, demanded, "James, explain yourself. Earlier you said..."
"Ms. Jenna," James interrupted coolly, "there are certain matters within the Dennis Group that can't be aired out in public, much like the previous CEO of the Jiang family stepping down. Would you care to elaborate on that?"
Jenna's face turned a shade paler at his words.
"It seems Ms. Jenna prefers not to discuss it," James continued, his tone icy. "Therefore, the affairs of Burke International are none of her concern."
His words carried a thinly veiled threat.
Sophie noticed the shift in Jenna's demeanor, and even Adler's expression soured.
James's strategy was clear: he wanted them to voluntarily give up their shares in Burke International!
Sandy, standing to the side and feeling bewildered, whispered to Angelo, "Why does this atmosphere feel so tense?"
"How should I know?" Angelo muttered back. "Devonport is a mess."
He couldn't help but be taken aback. Not seeing James for a few days, it seemed he had developed some new tricks. Wasn't the plan to transfer all Burke International shares to Sophie? Why the sudden change of heart?
Taking advantage of the distraction, Angelo subtly retreated to a corner.
Jenna, looking worse for wear, stumbled back, almost falling over.
Adler, quick to react, caught her and said to Colby and Sophie, "Jenna's not feeling well. I'll take her out of here."
"Alright, we'll leave too," Sophie agreed.
There was no point in sticking around.
As Sophie and Colby were about to follow Jenna and Adler out, Elodie
called out to Sophie, stepping. forward. "Ms. Sophie, can we talk privately?"
zu?
Colby shot Sophie a knowing glance and said in a low voice, "I'll be just

u need anything." Conto all me
"Okay."
After Sophie acknowledged him, Colby stepped aside.
Elodie cast a glance at Colby before turning back to Sophie. "Colby really cares for you. The love between you two is truly enviable."
"Mr. Troy, what do you want to discuss?" Sophie asked, cutting to the chase.
"Actually, when I proposed to buy the shares you hold in James's company, I was just testing your response."
"So, you and James were in cahoots all along?" Sophie asked, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
Elodie nodded. "Naturally, I wouldn't make a move without being certain."
"Are you here to gloat, Mr. Troy?"
"Not at all." Elodie smiled, a hint of mischief in her eyes. "I've heard that Ms. Sophie, you care deeply about your friends. Since you said Burke International isn't that crucial to you, why not tear up the share transfer agreement? It would make it much easier for me to take over those shares. Otherwise... your friends might get hurt. I don't think Ms. Sophie would risk her friends for a company she doesn't need, right?"
Elodie's eyes sparkled with amusement, as if mocking her previous choices.
Sacrificing a massive enterprise like Burke International for so-called friends-how foolish.
Sophie met Elodie's gaze and said, "Mr. Troy, do you think you've already won?"
