Reborn Through Fire

Chapter 1425

Chapter 1425 At Least You Still Have A Conscience
Madalyn’s sullen face instantly transformed into a kind one as she said, “Yes, yes, yes... I knew you guys were coming back
today, so I had the servants prepare some food. Come on in, quick.”
Madalyn had prepared a huge table full of food, expecting that Davian and Kelvin would stick around for dinner. But, to her
surprise, they both slipped away as soon as they got off the helicopter. So, Kisa sat at the big dining table with a few children and
Gilbert, feeling warm and cozy inside. Even though the memories of the Kooper residence were not all good for her, she still felt
like it was home and full of warmth.
Madalyn had always been mean to Kisa and treated her badly, but when it came to her children, including the one still in her
womb, she was nothing but kind. She even had the servants make several kinds of nourishing soups for Kisa, who was
experiencing morning sickness. The soup bowls were lined up in front of her, and Madalyn said, not so nicely, “I know you’ve
been feeling sick, so I had the servants make a few kinds of soup. Just choose the ones you can handle and drink up.”
Kisa was a little surprised that Madalyn knew about her morning sickness. She wondered if Gilbert told Madalyn about it. So she
looked at Gilbert, grinning foolishly. But Gilbert just calmly ate his food and ignored her.
“Alright, stop staring and drink the soup while it’s hot. Look at yourself, you are as skinny as a ghost. Let me tell you, I want my
great-grandson to be born chubby and healthy,” said Madalyn, making Kisa feel a little uneasy.
Before Kisa could say anything, Ada suddenly asked, “Great-grandma, what if the future little brother or sister is born chubby and
dark-skinned?”
Andrew could not help but laugh and added, “Yeah, Great-grandma, being chubby and dark- skinned is totally cool. Uncle
George told me I was chubby and dark-skinned when I was small.”
“And Uncle George told me I was chubby and light-skinned,” said Ada.
George was standing to the side, chuckling to himself. Only Blake had a glimmer of disappointment flash in his clear, bright eyes
when no one was looking.
Madalyn could not help but feel irritated at Kisa’s skinny appearance, but her anger was quickly dispelled by the adorable antics
of her two great-grandchildren. “Oh well, it doesn’t matter if the baby is chubby and dark-skinned as long as he is healthy,” she
exclaimed, before glaring at Kisa.

“Hurry up and drink your soup, or my great-grandchild will go hungry.”
Kisa wanted to roll her eyes so badly.
‘I’m a person, not a baby-making machine, but all anyone cares about is the baby,’ she complained in her mind. Still, she
obediently uncovered the soup bowl in front of her. There was chicken soup, fish soup, ginseng chicken soup, seaweed and pork
rib soup, and lotus root and pork rib soup, but no sweet soup. She could not stand the smell of chicken soup anymore, so she
quickly covered it up and settled for a bowl of lotus root soup.
“I’ll just have this one. Give the rest to Gilbert. He’s skinny too,” she said.
Madalyn grinned. “Well, at least you have a little bit of a conscience and still care about him.”
Kisa wanted to roll her eyes again at the insinuation that she was heartless before, but she could not bring herself to do it. In
truth, she could not stand the lotus root soup either. Almost any soup with oil made her feel nauseous. When she was pregnant
with Andrew and Ada, she did not have this kind of reaction. Now that she was pregnant for the second time, she was becoming
more and more sensitive. She furrowed her brows, took a few sips of the soup, and felt so uncomfortable that she almost threw
up.
Suddenly, Gilbert sitting two seats away from her sneered coldly. “You’d better drink it all, even if you can’t. Otherwise, I won’t
mind force-feeding you like I did last time.”
The atmosphere became incredibly tense and uncomfortable.
