Chapter 1959: Card Game
While Philip was burning down a clan that reigned for a few hundred years on a far away planet, Jack is currently hovering in the sky over another city in a different planet.
He is currently sitting on his hoverboard high up in the clouds as he meditated calmly. The blades of his hoverboard are rotating at a high speed and they are causing the surrounding wind to become chaotic.
But at the eye of it all, he is very calm and collected. He looked relaxed even.
Meanwhile, from the city, a bunch of people are hurriedly leaving the city. The formation of the city has been wrecked down along with the city walls. The houses are down and so are the buildings of the main city.
The people in charge of the city are currently kneeling down in front of the god they usually worship. They are feeling helpless right now. From the past few days, they have been hit by 'storms'.
These storms are neither windstorms, rainstorms, nor the hailstorms. Rather, they are the sword storms.
A few days ago, Jack came to their city and knocked on the gates of their estate. He looked like a young wandering swordsman who came to stop by and say hello. He was peaceful and polite throughout the whole interaction.
He even showed respect to the watchmen who stopped him, the assistant who guided him and the elder who welcomed him.
But that is the point where all went wrong.
The elder respected Jack's power and made sure that he showed enough kindness and goodwill.
The only problem is that Jack requested just for one thing that made the elder and in turn the whole clan furious.
"I am requesting you to empty your city. Let your citizens scatter and migrate to other cities, from now on, you are not allowed to worship Hermes. At least not here and not as a clan. If you refuse to comply, I will have to destroy your clan, your strength and your city."
The elder of course thought that Jack was disrespecting them.
But how would they know, he is the only guy among dusk organization who is still a bit kind to these enemies. He understood that the only fault of these people is that they are worshipping a wrong god. They didn't have much choice in becoming their enemies.
So, he is giving a way out.
No matter how many times he tried this though, things always went astray.
These people are too stupid to understand what is happening to them.
And he always had to take the drastic measures just like what he is doing right now.
After the discussions failed, Jack just took hoverboard and went into the sky of the city. No matter how many people came to him to attack, he always cut them down. Every now and then, there would be a sword storm coming and hitting the city.
The sword storms would be at an irregular interval, but they would have a regular progression. The intensity of each storm grew.
At first, only the people who went after Jack were killed, so the city took a defensive stance and they tried to contact Hermes.
The god initially responded and gave them some tricks, he even appeared as a projection and tried to scare off Jack, but too bad, there is nothing he could help these people with.
No matter what formation he gave, it was destroyed by the sword storm.
After the appearance of Hermes, Jack started the second step of this whole fiasco, he started giving the reasons for his attack. His enmity with the gods that these citizens believe in and why he is doing this.
The citizens first believed in god, but slowly their trust in him died down. They lost all of it soon enough and the migrations started. Some of the clan members cursed the gods and fled. Jack didn't care. Their faith vaned and that is what he wanted.
And these people will definitely make sure that the people under their control wouldn't have any faint in this god, that is an even better result.
Time passed in just three days, the city has come to this state. Except for the grand elders who had not much time left in their life spans and the clan leader who didn't have any other choice but to accept this responsibility of handling the whole clan, all of them are basically fled or dead.
Jack looked at the city and sighed.
"I have tried my best to give you enough time. But this is war, you are now facing the consequences of your choice."
He closed his eyes and took out his sword. While sitting down, he made a downward slash. At the same time a bunch of sword rays that were short of the blades of the hover blade started moving around chaotically.
They took a revolving motion around the sword ray that came out of the sword and this created a turbulent sword storm that headed towards the city.
Even before the rays touched the city, the buildings were swept away, people turned into bloody mist and the clan leader who was still praying to the god had his last breath.
At this exact moment, Jack took out a token and the calm aura around him disappeared. It is replaced with a very joyous look and he immediately made his move. It has indeed been a long time. He cannot wait to meet his friend again that too in their home.
And of course, the meeting wouldn't be complete if the remaining friend is not there.
And that friend is currently in middle of a card game.
In another far away planet.
Watt sat in the middle of a clan estate, the surroundings are covered with blood puddles and the earth soaked with that blood. Not a single blade of grass in the fifty meter radius showed a green sheen.
Across the table in front of Watt sat an old man who is currently shaking and shivering.
They are all surrounded by a bunch of clan members who held various positions of power and authority within the whole realm.
*TRRRRRRIIIIIIIISSSSSH*
Watt shuffled the cards rapidly. But these cards are all of blood red color. Of course it is obvious because they are made of blood iron.
The game is actually very simple.
On the back of every card, Watt has written something, and on the other side, there was a weird diagram inscribed. The text on the back are actually instructions and conditions of the duel.
Both sides are protected with a formation and neither of them could see what was on the cards.
After shuffling the cards, the clan leader will pick a card they will read what is written on it. Based on those instructions, the clan leader will assign his card to one of the clan members.
For example if the card says 'the opponent shouldn't use their elemental energy for three minutes' and the card is picked by the clan leader, Watt shouldn't use his elemental energy in the duel for three minutes.
Clan leader will give this card to someone who can use this to their advantage and they will duel Watt.
Each duel will go for ten minutes.
If Watt lost the duel, they can kill him directly. But if he won, then he will activate the diagram on the card and that will cause something really really really bad.
Right now, the clan leader picked a card with shaking hands.
The card read 'You cannot use your hands for the whole duel."
Watt stood up and casually stretched. The clan gulped down and looked at the crowd, but none of his clan members are looking him in the eyes, he gritted his teeth and picked a person.
That person reluctantly stepped forward and started fighting.
Watt didn't even give him chance. He had both of his hands in his pocket. He jumped high into the sky and threw an ax kick on the opponent. The kick went straight through the blade and crushed the hands of the opponent.
Watt had a clear upper hand, but he didn't kill the opponent, instead he played with him. He humiliated all the training the opponent had throughout his life and the rest of the clan members felt like their whole lives are being trampled up on.
After ten minutes, the opponent stood there with barely any breath left in his lungs. He is ready collapse.contemporary romance
"Too bad, it is my win again."
Watt said as he picked the card.
The clan leader shivered and so did the rest of the clan members. Watt looked at the diagram of the card and chuckled.
"You know, this is one of the earliest cards in the collection. This blood is extracted from the leader of a clan who were quite good at taming cranes. I hated them. So, after killing them, I took inspiration from the attacks of those cranes and made this card."
As he spoke, he injected his energy into the card before throwing it. The card hovered near the opponent, the surrounding wind entered the card and exited in the form of cranes made of condensed wind.
These cranes violently stabbed the opponent with their beaks. One hole after another appeared on the opponent's body. Blood splattered everywhere. Even when the opponent collapsed the cranes didn't stop.
Within two minutes, while everyone is watching the young man who was full of life a few minutes ago turned into mincemeat in a puddle of blood.
Watt turned to the clan leader, spread the cards and said.
"Pick a card. Any card."
