Chapter 1952: Cliches II
Rain and Pearl looked at Sam's table that is full of empty plates and bowls.
Even though the waiter removed the empty soup bowls, Sam was savoring all kinds of side dishes bit by bit, so there are several of them and it is pretty eyecatching. On top of that, the crystalline jars of wine are also way too flashy.
Amidst all those bowls, Rain and Pearl didn't notice Sam's already existing soup bowl. Instead they turned their attention to the waiter. Rain in particular looked at him in askance.
But the waiter didn't notice him. Instead he grinned at Sam and said.
"Coming right up sir."
As soon as those words fell out of his mouth Pearl frowned and voiced her confusion and frustration at the same time.
"How is he going to give the soup if they already ran out?"
Then her gaze was shifted Rain who felt his face burning. He felt embarrassed and stood up hurriedly as he slammed on the table. He pointed his finger at the waiter and yelled loudly.
"HEY. DON'T YOU KNOW THE RESTAURANT RULES? HOW ARE YOU AN EMPLOYEE HERE? WE ARE THE FIRST ONES TO ASK THE SOUP. HOW DARE YOU LIE TO US THAT YOU RAN OUT AND YOU SAID YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE IT TO HIM?
DID YOU ACCEPT BRIBES FROM HIM?"
His voice reverberated throughout the restaurant. Everyone looked at the waiter, Rain and then at Sam. Some people who were there from earlier and understood the situation were stunned for a moment before they understood what happened.
This guy thought that the waiter is favoring Sam over others and he felt insulted. Since that is not the case, things are going to take an entertaining turn.
The waiter frowned and said.
"I am sorry sir. But please refrain from accusing me of such crimes. I am very well aware of the rules of the restaurant as an employee here and I always act accordingly. I…"
"If you always act accordingly, then what do you say about your preferential treatment?"
"It is not preferential treatment, sir. That sir over there on that table has ordered the soup way before you did. He just wanted me to bring it later. He has already paid too."
Rain was dumbfounded. If what the waiter said is true, then he would become a fool. He noticed that the frown on Pearl's face has deepened. She definitely didn't like the sudden outburst. And to make it worse, the waiter didn't stop there. He kept on explaining.
"That sir over there has already paid for all the ten bowls for today. He was having his eight bowl and said he would ask for the remaining when he wanted. He just called me now to bring those two."
The waiter left those words before going to serve Sam.
He deliberately left those words there.
He clearly felt pissed off by Rain's performance and he just wanted to make him feel small. Rain just like the waiter expected felt dumbfounded. He had to work his ass off and sacrifice a lot to get twenty thousand gold coins for two bowls. But Sam just ordered ten of them and he is even enjoying a bunch of other dishes.
"That guy ordered ten bowls alone?"
Pearl said in surprise as she stared at Sam openly.
Sam threw a smile at her as he received his last two bowls of soup. But he didn't even drink them. Instead he placed the piping hot soup on the side focused on what looked like a drum stick in front of him.
The soup was just placed on the table. The waiter didn't mind though. He doesn't know why Sam bought all ten bowls of the soup, but he didn't mind. He just went on with his work.
Pearl looked at the soup bowls and Sam in confusion.
"He is not gonna drink it? I heard it is most potent when it is piping hot. If he not going to make the most out of it, why did he buy such an expensive dish?"
Rain heard it from the side and didn't know what to say. But one of his lackeys just spoke up.
"Junior Pearl, maybe he didn't care about the potency anymore. The soup has way too much energy and one bowl would be enough for people of our level. Even with the innate difference, hardly anyone could take more than one bowl.
He must be having them just for the taste. From what I heard, the soup gives off a completely different but equally great taste."
Pearl widened her eyes in disbelief. She has seen her fair share of extravagant people.
Still, if Sam really ordered the soup just for the taste of it, then it would be the most extravagant thing she has ever seen in her life. Her eyes sparkled a little bit.
Rain who saw this, didn't like it one bit. He immediately left his table and walked towards Sam.
Sam acted like he didn't even exist, even when Rain placed his hand on the table and leaned forward.
"Hello brother. May I know your name? I am Rain a Class 1 Freshman at Zeus academy." contemporary romance
His voice might be low, but he is pretty much arrogant and proud in the way he said his designation.
"Sam."
That is all he got in reply though. Rain's smile stiffened a bit, but he continued.
"I heard that you bought all the bowls of the soup for today. You already had eight of them. Can you please spare the last two for us? I brought a friend from afar to treat her. But the soup is all out because of you.
If you could spare it, I will owe you a favor."
"I don't want to."
Sam just answered straightforwardly.
Rain gritted his teeth at the nonchalance Sam is displaying.
"Havent you heard of my name before?"
"I have."
"Then…" Rain was about to continue, but Sam cut him off.
"I have heard of your name quite a few times, when it was Raining in my home town. They call Rain as Rain there as well."
Rain didn't even understand what Sam said. It took a minute for him to get what he said. He straightened and up and pointed his finger at Sam.
Then only he noticed something different. A bunch of people are staring at him.
Then only he understood. Even though he was whispering, Sam was not. He was actually speaking out loud, it was just that Rain didn't think much of it and ignored it.
Pearl almost laughed out loud and stifled it to not embarrass rain any further.
"Do you know who you are messing with?" Rain asked as he looked at Sam.
"I do. You just said it yourself. You are Rain, Class 1 Freshman at Zeus Academy. Why would I forget it that fast?"
Sam's words are killing the conversation instantly.
Rain is following the Cliched lines and in his head, he is screaming that Sam is not following the same. Where is the cliched, 'I don't care' or 'I don't give a fuck'? Where is the utter disrespect that will give Rain a reason to attack?
He really wanted to bash his head on the table just for this.
"I am sorry, can you leave this table? You are disturbing my ambience. I am trying to enjoy soup here."
Sam said as he looked blocked the table with his arms as if Rain is polluting it.
Rain gritted his teeth and took deep breaths to calm down. Then only he got a good look at Sam's clothes. He is not wearing any uniform. And he is not a familiar face. He is also here alone. He thought of something and asked.
"You must be new here."
"Yes, I am. I just arrived today and I heard that this place is good at the exchange centre. So, I came here."
Sam said casually as if he is not revealing anything secretive. But Rain felt like he is on to something.
"So, are you a new admission here in the Divine Region? Which academy do you belong to?"
"I don't belong to any academy yet."
"So, you are here for entrance exams?"
"Kind of. Why are you asking me these questions? I am not obligated to answer am I?"
When he heard this, Rain grinned widely and closed in on Sam. He whispered in an extremely low voice.
"Listen to me asshole. I don't know what you are trying to pull here. But if you know what is good for you, just hand over the soup and apologize to me before screwing off. Otherwise, I will make sure that you don't get into any academy.
Once I put in a bad word for you and black list you from Zeus Academy, you wouldn't be able to enter any other academy in your life.
So, be a good lad and fuck off from here."
He stood up again and then patted Sam on shoulder with a gentle smile.
"So, do remember what I said my friend. It will be very helpful for you in the entrance Exam."
Everyone is puzzled. After all, Rain was about to lose it just a moment ago. But right now, he acting all amicable and gentle. They wondered what he said under that whisper.
But Sam just smiled and held the two soups of bowl in his two hands.
He extended them toward Rain and asked with a smile.
"You want the soup right?"
"Of course, only if you don't need it. I can't pressure you now, can I?"
