Axel: Chapter 14
Meeting up with Chaos was just great. It was like having my brother back where he belonged. Getting set up in the apartment didn’t take any time at all because neither of us had much. We wanted little, if truth be told.
We discussed how we were going to work at the club and decided he would be the player of the two of us; he is much more outgoing with the ladies.
I’m going to do the watching, listening and any head bashing that we may require, but saying that Chaos didn’t get his name for being laid back.
Walking into the club, I notice Mia is not behind the bar tonight, but the one they call Jewel is strutting around the floor like she owns the place.
Getting our drinks, we take a seat on one side of the room, keeping our backs to the wall. Positioning ourselves here, we can see everything that’s going on, but keep our heads down.
Fox is behind the bar tonight, and he gives me a subtle look to let me know he’s seen us. A woman named Twig walks over to us and leans on the table, shoving her plastic tits in our faces. I don’t react at all, but as I know, Chaos is going to milk this for any information he can get.
‘Hi gorgeous, we’ve got a drink babe, but will be over for another one soon.’ Chaos schmoozes, and the woman sucks it up, sticking her chest out more and blinking fast as though she got something in her eye.
‘Anythin’ else I can do for you?’ she whines, pouting at Chaos.
Do these women not know what the fuck they look like? Disgusting, cheap and trashy. Not only someone you wouldn’t want to tie yourself to, but certainly someone you don’t want to stick your dick in, either.
Chaos does a good job of not turning his nose up, he likes his women feisty, fun and fairly innocent sexually, he isn’t into sticking his dick where everyone else has, so I know what he is doing now is nothing more than an act to get what he wants.
‘Not at the minute, darlin’,’ Chaos croons.
When Twig walks away swinging her hips to try to reel Chaos in, I give him the side-eye and he looks sick if anything, ‘My cock is not going anywhere near that skank so don’t even ask.’ he states flatly, and has me smirking.
People are entering the bar in groups, sitting around laughing and talking. The club hasn’t had any live acts as far as I know, but they should because the stage is a really decent size.
Chaos nudges me with his elbow and nods to the stage area and I notice Jewel is talking to a man, can’t see him clearly as he is keeping well back, shrouding himself at the stage entrance to the dressing rooms.
‘Keep your eye on him.’ I state, then pick up our empty beer bottles and walk over to the bar.
Fox hands me another two and I pay him, but nod to the back slightly and his eyes flick over. He sees what I’m showing him. He gives me a slight nod to show he has clocked it, and I pick up our drinks before leaving the bar.
‘Stay here, I’ll be back in a few, if not come looking.’
Walking to the main door, I tell Knuckles I’ll be back in a few minutes, then leave the club, walk into the parking area around the back of the building and stay in the shadows.
A man leaves the club through the back door and I see Jewel kiss him, then close the door behind her. The man lights a cigarette, takes a good pull and exhales, before stepping forward where someone else meets him.
‘Boss said we got to grab the girl soon. He’s getting pissed we haven’t got the job done yet.’
The man who left the club responds,’ Jewel says the club is spooked and watching everything carefully, but we’ll get our chance. She’s going to let me know next time the bitch is working, then we can make our move.’
Both the men move off and climb into a beat up truck, no plate. If I’d had Chaos with me, we could have grabbed these two, but I didn’t, so not an option.
Heading back inside, I take my seat next to Chaos and fill him in. He’s as annoyed as I am because we both feel we missed an excellent opportunity to find out what the fuck is going on.
The one good point is we still have Jewel, and we now know for sure she is in on whatever is going down.
Time to talk to Pres and bring him up to date, make a plan, and follow it through.
As we stand to leave, I notice Jewel is leaving early. Nodding at Chaos, he gives me the OK sign and follows her. He has the keys to the SUV we’re using, so I know he’ll do his thing.
I walk over to the bar and Twig grins. I keep my face blank, not giving this skank anything. It’s time I think to myself that they upped the class of the place staff-wise.
Fox walks through to the bar from the back and snarls at Twig to get some tables cleared and when she walks off, I lean over the bar slightly and murmur, ‘Pass me a drink Fox.’
‘You have to watch Jewel, Fox. She’s letting people in and out the back entrance, the one to the dressing rooms. Chaos is following her now. She is in on whatever is going down. They are trying to grab someone and Jewel said she will let them know what night they are working. We can easily guess it’s Mia.’
Fox’s face is set solid, anger is rolling off him in waves. ‘I just let the bitch leave early, said she wasn’t feeling good.’
‘Don’t worry Fox, Chaos is on her. He’ll let us know where she’s gone. He’ll take pictures if he can, anything that may lead us to know more than we do at this point.’ I finish my drink. ‘I’ll call a cab. Chaos took the SUV. I’ll contact Pres as soon as I get back to the apartment and we have no ears listening.’
Fox nods, then heads down the bar to serve and I turn to the door, pass Knuckles, giving him a head nod and stand waiting for the cab.
AXEL
What the fuck is going on at the club? Target’s report was not encouraging and I agree with his feeling that Jewel is involved, but with who? And why?
Picking my cellphone up from my desk, I send a text to Mia asking her to stay within the compound as I have to go out on club business, then text Drag to meet me outside as we’re going to the club.
I straddle my bike, slam my helmet on, and turn when I see Drag walking out of the clubhouse. Without waiting, I start my baby up and pull out of the compound.
It doesn’t take long to reach the club and after parking; I enter and stand near the door where Mav is now on door duty.
‘Anything to report, Mav?’
‘Nothing, Pres.’
Walking through the bar to the office, I hear Fox talking. When I enter the office, Chaos stands and holds his hand out, ‘Hi Axel, I’m just reporting to Fox what I found out when following Jewel.’
I nod for him to take a seat and I lean on the corner of the desk, cross my arms and settle to hear the news, which my gut tells me will not be good.
Fox sits behind the desk, leaning on his elbows and clasping his hands. ‘Okay Chaos, spit it out. What’s the bitch been up to?’
‘She left here and headed out fast, stopping to get a ton of alcohol, which she took to an apartment, a rundown piece of shit apartment, I have to add.
‘After taking all the alcohol inside, I could see her walking about from room to room. It’s an upstairs apartment, and I know it’s a shit place as I climbed the drain to the balcony and looked in.
‘Four men were sleeping on the sofa and on the floor. One of them is the one you know as Steve. After a few angry words, they both headed to the bedroom. I couldn’t get around the other side to see in, but they didn’t come back in a hurry.’
I place my elbows on my knees and lean forward. ‘Did you hear anything at all, any names, places, anything that will give us a lead of where to look. I don’t want to pull her into the shed at this stage because if she goes missing, then they will all go on alert. We’ll lose the element of surprise.’
Shaking his head, Chaos runs his hands over his hair. ‘Oh, I heard the name Cara. That is the only name I heard.’
Both me and Fox, jump up and snarl, ‘Cara, you heard the fucking name Cara?’
Nodding at us, Chaos obviously doesn’t understand this may be a significant lead.
‘When you get back to the apartment, you tell Target what you heard, then tell him to call me. He’s going on a fucking visit to see Zara. Fact finding mission at that.’
‘What the ever loving fuck Pres, why now, why her name, as if Mia has not had enough grief at the hands of that lying piece of shit.’ Fox is ready to go to war. I can see it in his eyes. ‘It’s a good thing she’s dead or I would have killed her myself.’
‘Let yourself out the back way, Chaos. Fox will cover you. We don’t want you seen to be cozying up to us.’ I state, but slap him on his back as he walks past.
Drag walks into the office, then Fox re-enters after a few minutes, hands us a drink and throws himself down in his chair.
‘What the fuck, Pres, is this never going to end for Mia?’ Because Drag wasn’t here, we quickly update him on what we’ve found out. He looks ready to kill someone, too.
Shouting in the bar attracts our attention and Fox rushes through with us right behind him.
Twig is snarling at a woman who is about five foot five, with red hair, green eyes and standing up against Twig as though she hasn’t a care in the world.
Fox grabs Twig and pulls her out of the way. ‘What can I do for you?’ he asks, being quite polite for him, making me smirk as he obviously likes what he’s looking at.
‘I’m looking for a friend. I’ve been asking around town and although I’ve been here for three weeks, I haven’t found her yet. I was told she worked here.’
‘What’s your friend’s name, babe?’ Drag asks, pissing off Fox.
‘Mia, she calls herself Mia, but her true name is Miriam. We were in lockup together.’
Walking towards her, I ask, ‘What’s your name?’
‘My name’s Sharon, but Mia calls me Shar.’ and Kerching, I now know who she is.
‘Yeah, we know where she is. She’s my ol’ lady and if you come with us, you’ll reconnect with her in a few minutes.’ I say, grinning, as I know Mia will be overjoyed to see her friend.
Leading Shar outside I nod to Drag to have her on his bike and he gives me a strangled look because you don’t have women on your bike unless they are yours, but it is extenuating circumstances, I give him a huge grin and straddle my bike, fire her up and leave Drag to follow on behind.
This is going to be great, and I hope earns me bonus points with Mia because I don’t know how long I can hold out without taking my woman to bed and making her mine.
