Raging Barons – Silver: Chapter 21
-:- SILVER -:-
I catch Eden before she can hit the floor. Carrying her bridal style, I quickly make my way back to the room she’s staying in and behind me is Mia, shouting, “What the fuck did you do to her?”
Axel rushes up behind Mia and picks her up, throws her over his shoulder and marches off with her screaming and shouting abuse to me and to Axel. Then she has me grinning when she shouts “‘Meat’, ‘Target’ I need your help.” Much to her disgust, no one comes to her aid.
Laying Eden on the bed, I carefully brush a piece of hair out of her face. That’s when I notice my hand is shaking. Sitting next to her, I come to realize I really want this woman and I want it to work. I also know it’s fast and we hardly know each other, but I don’t care about that. This feeling I have in my chest says she’s my one and I’m gonna fight for her.
A gentle knock on the door and Stitch pops his head around. “Do you want me to check her, Silver?” This has me grateful that my brothers will have my back and Eden’s. Stitch is new here as is Meat, but they both have slotted into the MC as though they’ve been here from the start.
“What happened?” Stitch asks and I fill him in on the meeting in Axel’s office and what occurred to have her fainting. Shaking his head, he grins, “A bit of a shock for her.” He states, laughing.
I can’t help but smirk, “Yeah, I think it was, but I hope it’ll be okay when she really gets to know me.” I say and mean it from the bottom of my heart.
After Stitch confirms Eden is okay, just overwhelmed with everything that’s happened in a short space of time, he slaps my shoulder, wishes me luck, and leaves the bedroom.
When I look down, I smile at the eyes that are looking right at me, beautiful brown eyes. “Hi babe, are you back now? Not going to pass out again, are you?”
“Silver, my head is bursting with so many questions.”
“Yeah, I can imagine. Let me get you a drink of water. Do you need any pain meds?”
“Just water, please.”
After getting a bottle of water and opening it, I pass it to Eden and sit with my back leaning on the headboard of the bed. Eden drinks half the water, then sits next to me. When she twists to face me and lifts an eyebrow, I know it’s time to tell her what happened in Church and that I want us to let it stand, and get to know each other.
I fill Eden in on everything, the way I feel so protective of her, right from the first time I set eyes on her, to now, and how I feel she was always meant to be mine.
Eden then tells me how she’s never felt she belonged anywhere since her mother died. “Since my mother died, it has been hard. She was my everything. Stan, I thought, loved her, but how can we be sure? He knew my mother wanted me to inherit the house because it was my childhood home, my mother and father bought it outright with money my father inherited from his parents, so Stan knew it was mine, but he didn’t do as he knew was right, he gave it to his lazy daughter.”
“Did you not get along with Shirley?”
“Not really. She always moaned. She wanted something or another, but she never worked to get anything, and Stan would give her whatever she wanted. It caused arguments between him and my mother.”
“How did she afford to keep the house utilities paid?”
“She didn’t, I did. I worked and paid for utilities and food. I will not bother with her ever again. To be honest, she disgusts me.”
“I want us to give this thing a go between us, Eden. Do you think you could try it, too?” I ask and hold my breath and wait for her reply.
Eden looked me right in the eye, then searched my face and I waited, slightly holding my breath that whatever she was looking for, she finds.
“Yes, I think we can try it, but can we take it slowly?”
“Yes.” I reply and give her a smile, then I lean forward and place my lips lightly on hers, but before I can push my luck I pull back, give her a smile, then hold my hand out to pull her from the bed with me, “Come on, let’s go see if evening meal is ready.”
After evening meal, I sit at the bar with Eden standing between my legs, I’m only drinking a soda and Eden is sticking with water as she had to take some pain meds. We are talking with Axel, Mia, Hammer, Chaos and Drag. The evening is pleasant. We all laugh and relax until Specs rushes into the common room.
“Pres, need you in the office.” Specs shouts and before anyone can ask what’s happening, he turns and disappears. Axel jumps off his stool, tells Mia to stay with Eden and the rest of us follow Axel through to his office.
Crowding into Axel’s office, we see Specs standing with his back to the window. “Pres, I’ve just gotten word from Target. He’s out on the streets talking with his contacts. The old warehouse on Grant Road is being used as a fuckin’ whore house, they’ve just taken women off the street and thrown them in the old offices of the warehouse and men are going in and using the women, and you can guess Tommo is in charge of this shit.”
Axel sits behind his desk, looks from one of us to another, “Call Church, now.” He calmly states, and we all know that tone is the one before bad things happen.
Drag takes out his cellphone and is texting everyone in as he’s walking out of the office. Specs picks up his laptop that he’s placed on Axel’s desk and he looks at Axel, “I’m going back to my office, I’ll pick up a satellite feed, see what the fuck we can find out before Church.”
“Okay Specs,” Axel responds and then turns to us, “Call all the prospects in. I want them inside the compound, fully armed, no excuses. If they cannot get in, take their fuckin’ patch. Joe stays at the garage, but make sure he knows what’s happening so he can arm up and watch for trouble.”
Brag walks into the office and after I updated him on what’s happening, he looks over at Axel. “Pres, you want me to go to Joe as backup, or do you want me to go stay with Shar? She’s on her own at the coffee house and could be a target too when we retaliate to this shit, and I know we’re having Church, but I know everyone will want to do something about this asshole.”
“Brag, you go to Shar, contact Clay and tell him to go to Joe. We can’t afford to have something happen to the garage.” Axel responds, then stands and walks back to the common room with all of us walking behind him.
I reach Eden and tell her things are going down, we’re having Church to work out what we’re going to be doing. Beer is listening from where he’s serving behind the bar and nods to me, then flicks his eyes to Eden and Mia, letting me know he’ll stay and watch them. I nod and look at Axel, who nods at him too.
Axel leads Mia away to speak to her, and I turn back to Eden. “Beer is going to stay here with you and Mia. You’ll be safe. We’ll be locking down the compound and leaving some prospects outside. No one will get to you.”
Eden is studying my face, then she smiles, “I know we will. I feel safe here with everyone. You please be safe, too.” Before I can respond Axel shouts Church and we all nod and rush in behind him.
Church doesn’t take long. What surprises me is Axel shouts the prospects in. All but Jig, who is at the gatehouse and on high alert as lockdown has been called.
Axel slams the Church door closed and storms to the head of the table. He doesn’t even bother picking up his gavel. He checks quickly that we are all here and then speaks, but with that deadly tone we all know so well.
“Joe has Clay at the garage. They can both keep the place safe. Brag has gone to Shar to make sure she is safe. We can’t afford either of those businesses to be hit.” Axel is checking us all for reactions I’m sure, “Eden and Mia are staying here with Beer, I’m leaving Jig on gate duty, Dice I want you up on the flat roof with Fizz, pick off any fucker that wants to come here. Petey and Brad, you both stay here, but rove the building, watch the doors and windows, any sign of anything untoward you contact Beer, he’s in charge while we’re gone.” Axel is so calm. It’s eerie. I can imagine he’s not calm inside, as he’s bound to be worried about Mia. He shows no sign of his inner feelings as he continues, “Target is on his way to the warehouse, so we’ll have eyes on it quickly. Chaos is on his way already as backup for Target. The rest of you, listen closely. This is what we’re going to do….”
****
Two hours after Church we are all spread out around the warehouse. Meat disappeared with Stitch a few minutes ago. Target, Chaos and Drag went around the back of the building. Axel is beside me and he is sending everyone out into a pre-decided position. Buzz, our enforcer, who is always silent, watches Axel closely. No way will anything happen to Axel while Buzz still breathes.
We move forward on Axel’s signal and I look to my left and see Knuckles, Hammer and Rock by my side. We inch forward slowly, making as little noise as possible. I know Axel has gone right with Buzz, Mav and Sting. We have five minutes to get into position.
Quite a few vehicles are parked at the front of the warehouse, and the music we can hear is pretty loud, which is helping to cover our approach. We can see no-one standing as a guard on the front of the warehouse. Is this Tommo so confident no one will stop him?
Glancing at my watch, I can see we are in position on the left side of the warehouse within the time frame. We settle back on our heels, keeping silent, not wanting to alert anyone inside.
A movement catches my eye and I’m amazed to see Meat, Target and Chaos climbing the fuckin’ wall up the side of the building. Then I notice Stitch standing guard at the bottom of the wall. What the fuck are they doing?
We watch them reach the top floor. I’m not even asking how they got that rope to climb, but a movement on the roof shows someone giving Target a thumbs up, so hey, inside job by the looks of it. I glance at my brothers and they are all grinning and shaking their heads in as much disbelief as I am.
We hear the whistle to indicate we move in. Quickly, but as quietly as we can, we reach the side of the building and head through an open window. Climbing into what looks like an abandoned office, we listen for movement and, apart from music, we can hear grunting and women crying. My gut clenches and anger grows inside my chest.
Cracking the door, Knuckles grunts with disgust and each of us look. What I see has me wanting to kill every man standing in the room. They’ve tied a woman to a table in the middle of the room. Men are lining up to take their turn, but this woman is out. She’s done. I don’t know if she’s drugged, exhausted, or dead. I look up at Hammer and his jaw is so clenched it’s a wonder he has any teeth.
Another whistle indicates we show ourselves, and we are well ready to do that. Stepping into the main room of this stinking place, we all have our weapons pointing at some fucker, ready to take them out.
Axel steps forward and whistles so loudly, no one can miss the fact, and he’s larger than life as he punches the man that is nearest to the woman on the table.
“Who the fuck do you think you are?” Someone shouts and none of us look at him as we’re keeping our eyes on everyone else, but Axel turns, “I’m the President of the Raging Barons MC and we’ve brought hell to your door.”
This fucker has nerve as he laughs. “You’ve brought death to yours.” He snarls, then clicks his fingers and six men step out from the shadows, but before they can do anything three ropes fall from above and three angry men slide to the floor, weapons are pointing towards the six but then everyone’s head shoots up when another figure screams the Tarzan cry and swings to the ground, of course its Meat, he opens fire as he hits the ground. We are all so shocked for a second. He’s taken out four before any of us move.
All hell breaks loose, with men trying to get out of the warehouse and others firing at us, we are able to take down most of the fuckers in no time at all, but I notice Tommo escaped as he’s not where he was a moment ago.
Stitch walks over to the woman on the table and presses his fingers to her neck, then looks up and shakes his head no to Axel. I shake my head as I think about the men who didn’t care if she was alive or not, as long as they were lust driven.
Axel shouts for us to get the women out, let them climb into the van and we’ll take them home or wherever they need to go. Any men we find to take them out, then pile the bodies around the building as it’s going to be burned to the ground.
Buzz walks over to Axel and whispers into his ear, which has Axel looking at him, then turning and looking at me. Something is not good, my stomach curls when he calls me to him.
“What’s up, Pres?” I ask as I stand in front of him.
“The woman tied up, it’s Shirley, she’s dead. The only good thing is, it looks like she overdosed and probably didn’t know what the fuck was happening to her.” I nod in agreement, because shit, this is bad. How the fuck am I supposed to tell Eden? “Silver, do you want us to leave her here or take her with us?”
I stare at him, then come to my decision, right or wrong, I’ll need to live with it, “Burn her with them. Eden doesn’t need the stress or cost of burying this bitch. She made her bed, now let her burn in it.” I turn and walk away. I’m not giving this woman anymore of my time. Eden is my worry and I’ll do anything I can for her.
I notice Meat, Stitch and Chaos are galloping through the building, making sure women are not left behind. Target has his man leaving through the front door after he slips him some green. I go through the motions of helping wherever I can, but my mind is on how I’m going to tell Eden that her sister is dead.
