Pursuing My Ex Wife in Full Blooming Spring novel (Naomi)

Chapter 228

Naomi's eyes widened as she quickly looked down. Realizing that her hand was on Scott's, she quickly pulled away as though she just had an electric shock. Just like when they were in the car that night and Dylan put her hand on his forehead.

It was as quick and frantic.

She retreated a few steps backward. Gone was her usual calm composure. She also forgot about the injury on her feet.

Her frantic retreat tripped her over, which caused her to lose balance and fall backward.

She looked in fear and subconsciously tried to grab onto something by her side to stop her fall.

Right at this moment, Scott went forward and stopped her fall by putting his arm around her waist. He scooped her up, and she was instantly in his arms.

All this happened in a hot second.

Naomi was stunned.

Her heart was racing. She never thought she would fall. Heck, she did not expect this to happen at all! She froze in Scott's arms.

Scott stood still. As he held Naomi's soft body against his body, he could smell the floral aroma from her body. His expression changed when he was hugging her. His gaze was no longer calm.

The entire room was in silence.

The lights slowly dimmed and switched off, enclosing them in darkness.

Naomi lost her usual composure as her heart pounded against her ribcage. Her brain was in a mess. She did not know how to deal with it or where to even begin.

When everything was in darkness, she looked around. She came to her senses.

"I-I'm sorry."

Naomi wanted to take Scott's temperature and he was cooperative, but she screwed up. She never thought that this would happen, to be fair. Accidents were unpredictable. She slowly calmed down. Then, she added, "Thank you."

Naomi pushed him gently. If he had not caught her in time, her foot injury would have gotten worse.

At that thought, she was careful. Even if she was pushing him, she did so calmly.

She had to get better immediately. She had to be healthy so she could work. That way, her parents and friends would not worry. She would feel much better, too. Scott's fingers moved a little, then he pulled her in closer.

Naomi stiffened at how he seemed to still...not release her. How could she not know what he was thinking about, especially when their bodies pressed against each other? However, she did not think much of it. She had no impure thoughts. She remained calm and composed. Scott must have his reasons. He was a good guy.

Scott looked at Naomi. The twinkling in her eye told him clearly what she was feeling at that moment.

He said, "Stand up properly."

Naomi grabbed his shirt and arm. She shifted her feet a bit to find her balance. After standing up, she said, "I'm okay."

She was obedient. She would listen to whatever he said.

Scott could feel the warmth from her slender fingers holding onto his arm. Then, he put his arms down to stop her from holding onto him tightly.

Naomi could sense him slowly putting his arm down as if he was afraid she would fall again. She was grateful that he was considerate of her.

She slowly stepped away from him, but he still had one arm behind her waist, holding onto her. She was still within his reach.

When she stepped backward, Scott grabbed her hand. She was a little taken aback. She looked at him.

He said nothing but placed her hand on the bar top so she could hold onto it properly. "Hold onto it."
