Chapter 13. Bad News
"Xay bad news." She whispered over the phone.
"Spill." I ordered getting nervous by the second.
"They came back. " she whispered to me.
"What the fu-
"Xay I don't know if this line is even safe. All I know is that they teamed up with this agency who specializes in hunting people down. They're looking for you Xay.” she said worried.
I was utterly speechless.
"Xay don't trust anyone. They hired somebody in each state at every single high school to hunt you down." She whispered as if scared someone might hear her.
"Ho-How do you know this Shira?" My voice breaking.
"There was this new guy at our school and he seemed very suspicious. He was just mysterious. Three weeks later, Lydia from Humanities went missing and so did the new guy." She whispered.
"So what?" I asked.
"Xay, Lydia almost looks just like you. Big green eyes, dark brown hair, chubby cheeks, 5 ft 2..." She listed.
"But-
"Couple days after a girl went missing looking exactly the same. They're looking for you Xay. Be careful. Don't trust anyone." She warned.
"Okay..." My voice trembling.
With that she hung up and I called Kalina immediately.
She was just about to order me to dye my hair blonde when I put my foot down and said no.
This is my battle. I'll fight it on my own. I haven't told anyone about my ability so that's being safe. I trusted all my friends with my whole heart. It couldn't be one of them. I just had to keep my eyes open. They won't look for me forever. They'll stop eventually.
I love it here in New York and I am not moving to the Bahamas no matter what Kalina or gran says.
I spent the rest of the day redesigning a small black strapless less dress for the Halloween dance and getting two assignments done that's due tomorrow.
At least that occupied my mind for quite some time.
That's what I thought.
That night I got absolutely no sleep. Sleeping pills went hocus pocus on me.
And I have a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, that something bad is going to happen.
