Our Journey Back To Love

Chapter 75

Chapter 75

Everyone was taken aback by Stella’s answer.

Jessica glanced at Brian. He looked impassive, and there was a cold gleam in his eyes.

“Bernard, when did you and Stella get so chummy?” Jessica asked.

“We’ve been hanging out recently and got to know each other better,” Bernard lied, hiding the surprise in his eyes as he flashed a smile at Jessica. He hadn’t expected Stella to be so sporting

The next second, Bernard walked over to Stella and put an arm around her shoulders. “Come on, I’ll give

you a lift.”

Stella glared at him,

A deadly look flashed in Brian’s eyes.

“Now that the divorce is underway, play along. Bernard whispered in Stella’s ear. “Brian’s looking at you.

You wouldn’t want to cause a scene here, would you?”

Hearing this, Stella sneaked a glance at Brian to find his gaze on Bernard’s hand on her shoulder.

Stella reached out to wrap an arm around Bernard’s waist. She turned and nodded at Brian, saying

brightly, “Bye, then!”

She and Bernard were about to leave when Brian suddenly said, “Wait!”

Turning around, Bernard and Stella watched as Brian took Jessica by the hand and made his way down

the steps.

He walked up to them and addressed Bernard casually, “You might want to be careful, Bernard. She’s not

someone you can control,”

Stella stiffened at this.

Before she could react, Brian had already led Jessica toward the Cullinan. His back was straight and his

pace elegant.

Stella watched them leave.

Bernard cast her a sidelong glance and asked, “Don’t you think they make a handsome couple?”

“Your generosity and patience surprise me, Mr. Roach, Stella joked, not bothering to rise to Bernard’s bait.

She took out her phone and pulled up Sharon’s contact on WhatsApp.  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Bernard snorted. “Unlike you, my love is pure. All I want is for the woman I love to be happy.” He didn’t care that he became collateral damage.

Stella was about to point out to him that this was not love, but stupidity.

However, she held her tongue and decided to let him continue his role as collateral damage. She would

like to see how he would react after snapping to his senses and realizing his sacrifice was in vain.

Stella wrote a text to Sharon: “The divorce has been finalized, Sharon.”

Next to her, Bernard was pleased to see the text she sent Sharon.

He took out a checkbook from his pocket and said, “To thank you for being my subterfuge yesterday, I’ll write you a check. You can think of it as compensation for your heartbreak.”

With that, Bernard wrote her a check for five million dollars. He tore it off the booklet and handed it to Stella. “Here you go.”

Stella took the check and glanced at the sum. She then raised her hand and delivered a resounding slap across his face.

The loud crack of her palm against his skin filled the air

Bernard was caught off guard by the slap, the force of which turned his head to the side and left a red handprint on his handsome face.

He bristled and turned to glare at Stella menacingly.

“That’s for taking advantage of me yesterday.” Stella hissed. “And as for the five million dollars, you can keep it! Use it for your medical bill, I don’t care.

“Just don’t show up in front of me ever again!”

She tore the check into tiny pieces and threw the scraps in his face. Without another word, she turned to leave.

Bernard’s expression was grim as he reached out to grab her wrist. “How dare you hit me, Stella? You’re not going anywhere!”

The anger smoldering in his eyes could burn through her.

Stella was scared, but she knew she couldn’t shrink back or show her fear.

She bit out icily, “If you hurt me, I’ll tell Brian about how you used me as a pawn yesterday! Think carefully, Bernard. You didn’t just manipulate me; you manipulated Brian too.

“What will he think of you once he finds out you’ve been scheming against him, huh?”

Stella clenched her jaw and welcomed Bernard’s hostile gaze. “By then, our roles will be reversed: I’ll become the victim, and you’ll be the villain of the story
