Our Journey Back To Love

Chapter 68

Chapter 68

Stella decided that if the world was so determined to tear her and Brian apart, she would let it.

She returned upstairs and hopped into the shower. She was toweling her hair dry afterward when she got

a call from Brian.

Picking up the call, she greeted impassively. “Hey.”

Brian sensed that there was something amiss with her tone. “Why aren’t you back here?” he asked.

“Why should I go back there?” she retorted.

Brian paused for a second before saying, “My leg hurts

then padd

“Give me a minute.” Stella threw her towel aside and put on her slippers. She then padded down the

corridor to the master bedroom..

Brian was sitting up in bed when Stella entered the room. He smiled at her and said, “Come here.”

She stood before him and glanced at his leg. “Can you show me where it hurts? Do you want me to call

Dr. Sanders?”

“It doesn’t hurt as much anymore,” Brian said. “Did you just come out of the shower?”

“Yes.

He took a pillow and put it next to his Patting it down, he looked at Stella and asked, “Will you be sleeping

here tonight?”

Stella raised a brow at him.

“What happened? is something wrong? Brian could tell from her expression that something was bothering her. “Did my mother say something to you while she was here?”

“No.” Stella lied.

“Is it because of Jessica?” Brian pressed.

Stella looked up at him, her gaze cold and dark. “No.”

“Then what is it?”

“I just think that we should draw our boundaries after we agree to live our separate lives,” Stella pointed out. “I don’t want you trying to initiate any form of intimacy with me from now on,

“We’re only married on paper. In real life, we’re no better than strangers.

Brian’s face darkened as he asked, “So, you’ve fallen for Yoel.”

Stella did not answer his question and merely said, “I’ve made up my mind to free myself from this marriage. I won’t backtrack on it.”

With that, she turned on her heels and walked out of the room.

Brian’s gaze lingered on her silhouette until she disappeared through the door. There was a dark look in

his eyes that could make a grown man freeze.

Stella did not step into Brian’s room after that day.  Sᴇaʀᴄh thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Stella kept to her room and worked on her sketches unless she was summoned.

A week later, she called Yoel and greeted, “Hey, Yoel.”

On the other line, Yoel knew what the call was about as soon as he heard her say his name. “You’re done

with the sketches?

“Yes, just a few of them. When are you free?” Stella asked. She wanted to talk to him about the

collaboration.

Yeol replied, “Does tomorrow work for you?”

“Tomorrow…” Stella checked her schedule and said, “Yeah, that’s fine. Are you free tomorrow afternoon? We could meet at a restaurant and grab lunch while we talk.”

“Sounds good,” Yoel said with a smile.

Stella clutched her phone.

She was about to end the call when she spied Brian standing at her door with a crutch under his arm,

Bernard was holding him by the arm to keep him steady.

Both men were staring at her.

Brian’s gaze was stormy while Bernard’s eyes glittered like he couldn’t wait for trouble to befall Stella

Stella suddenly thought about what Sharon said the other day: if Stella and Brian did not finalize their divorce as soon as possible, Simon would be locked up behind bars forever.

At the thought of this, Stella drew a breath and said with a small laugh, “Hey, Yoel?”

There was a playful edge to her tone that made Yoel raise a brow in amusement. He asked softly, “Yes?”

“Can I order dessert tomorrow?” Stella asked flirtatiously.

Bernard scoffed. “See, Brian? I told you she’s bad news. She’s flirting with Yoel behind your back!”
