Our Journey Back To Love

Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Stella was having breakfast downstairs when Bernard suddenly took the seat across from her. He said

begrudgingly, “I’m sorry.”

Reminded of the incident and Bernard’s role in it, Stella eyed him stonily as she asked, “You were the one

who pushed me down the slope, weren’t you?”

“Why else would I apologize to you?” he countered sarcastically, his face darkening.

She sputtered. “Why bother apologizing if you don’t mean it?”

She felt the air around Bernard grow cold.

rank on you, but I went

There was nothing friendly in his gaze as he explained, “I thought I could pull a prank on you,

too far and pushed you down the slope by accident. I was wrong.”

Stella stirred her coffee nonchalantly. “I’m fine. I just wish I could say the same for Brian.”

“He made me come down here and apologize to you,” Bernard confessed, implying that he wouldn’t have bothered saying sorry to Stella if Brian hadn’t forced him.

Stella froze when she heard this. So, it was Brian who wanted Bernard to apologize.

Emotions flickered in her eyes as she took a sip of her coffee. She looked like she was lost in her

thoughts.

Bernard broke the silence between them. “But don’t think you’re better than me just because I apologized  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the (ꜰind)ɴʘvel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

to you!”

This made Stella laugh. “I’ve never thought that.”

Bernard pointed out sullenly, “Brian’s injury is my fault, so I’ll take accountability for it and take care of him

for the next few days.

“As for you, I suggest you stay in line. If you think you can seduce Brian just because you live with him,

you’re wrong!”

As far as Brian was concerned, what happened in Brian’s bed earlier was entirely orchestrated by Stella

and her temptress wiles.

Stella nearly spit out her coffee. She shot Bernard a derisive look. “What in the world is going on in that brain of yours?”

She wanted to tell him that Brian was the one who had pulled her into bed, but Bernard spoke first

“Ive seen plenty of women like you! You’re a succubus who’s only after Brian’s money. I know more than

you think!” Bernard huffed.

Stella’s gaze was shrewd, “Do you have proof of that?”

“What proof do I need? For the past few years, your family’s been eyeing Brian’s money and status.

Bernard looked smug

He added pointedly. “I heard your Uncle Chris has been going around telling people Brian is his nephew–in- law. That’s how he’s been getting all those projects.”

Stella couldn’t deny that.

Chris had been managing Yates Group since Simon was thrown behind bars. Faced with crippling debt, the company’s business development had grown stalwart

As such, Chris had been using Brian’s name and connection to procure more business for the company.

It was the reason why Chris told Stella to stay on good terms with Brian.

Stella wouldn’t put it past the public to think of her as a moneygrubber after Chris repeatedly used Brian’s

name to get more projects for Yates Group.

Stella was innocent. She was not a moneygrubber, but she couldn’t stand up for herself while Chris was out there dropping Brian’s name.

She remained quiet.

Bernard assumed she was feeling guilty. Snorting, he warned, “Watch yourself and learn your place. If I so much as catch you seducing Brian, I’ll make you pay.”

Stella wasn’t sure how to respond to the threat, so she sighed in exasperation.

After breakfast, she returned upstairs to work on her sketches.

There were a lot of visitors at Yolvencrest Estate that day. The visitors were executives from Foley Group

who had dropped by with documents for a meeting with Brian.

He was a workaholic, through and through. Not even a broken leg could get in the way of his work.

Stella sketched from morning until afternoon. She was about to take a nap when her phone rang.

“Where’s my breakfast?” Brian demanded on the other line.

“Breakfast?” Stella was baffled.

“You said you’d make breakfast for me. Where is it? It’s been hours!” he snapped.

Only then did she remember she had promised to bring him breakfast that morning. “Are you telling me you’ve gone without food until now?”

She glanced at the time. It was almost 3:00 p.m.

“I’ve been too busy with work to eat,” Brian said plainly

Stella was stumped. “That doesn’t make sense. Didn’t Yvonne bring lunch up to your room?”
