Chapter 158 

Stella’s heartbeat was racing. As Charlie was about to spot her, she saw the hospital building next to her. 

Without thinking, she rushed in and ran with her phone in hand. She quickly found the elevator, pressed the button, and dashed in without a moment’s stopping 

As seconds ticked by, the elevator finally reached the 16th floor of the inpatient department. 

Stella exited the elevator in relief, only to bump into somebody. Thinking it was Charlie, she hit the person. 

frantically. “Go away!” 

“What are you doing?” Brian’s voice came from above her head. Stella looked up in bewilderment. “Brian? 

“Where have you been?” Brian held her with his strong, long arms. “Why are you panicking? What 

happened?” 

“A big thing.” Stella glanced back at the elevator. Seeing as Jessica had not caught up, she took Brian’s hand and headed to the ward. “Brian, I have something to tell you 

Seeing her small hand holding his big palm, Brian didn’t break away and followed her into the ward. After Stella closed the ward door, Brian looked at her sweaty face and urged her, “Go get changed first. 

“Your fever hasn’t gone away yet. It may return if you stay in sweaty clothes. 

“I’ll do it later.” Having just learned a shocking secret, Stella was anxious. She pulled up the recording on her phone and played it for Brian. In the recording, the voices of Jessica and Charlie were clear. 

When the recording ended, Stella glanced at Brian nervously, worrying about his mood. He had to have thought Jessica was bearing his child and thus cared for her wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, it turned out that he had been cuckolded. 

To Stella’s surprise, Brian didn’t get angry. Instead, he asked her calmly, “Did you follow Jessica?” 

“Don’t you get it? Her child is not yours!” Stella wanted to grab his ear. Didn’t be hear it? 

“I get it.” Brian’s expression remained calm, or rather, impassive. 

Perplexed, Stella asked tentatively, “Have you lost your mind because you cannot accept it?” 

“Give me your phone,” Brian uttered. 

Thinking he wanted to listen to the recording again, Stella handed him the phone. Brian deleted the 

recording straight away. 

Stella was startled. “Why did you delete the recording? It’s evidence!” 

“Stay out of this matter.” Brian firmly forbade Stella to investigate Jessica, 

Stella was dumbfounded. After a moment, she seemed to get it and asked in a low voice, “Did you know 

all along that her child isn’t yours?” 

Brian repeated indifferently, “I told you to stay out of it 

“Why?” Stella couldn’t understand why Brian defended Jessica when he knew the child wasn’t his She asked blankly, “Do you want to marry her so much that you’d rather accept her child with another man?” 

Brian frowned, “When did I say I wanted to marry her?” 

“Didn’t you promise Sharon?” Stella questioned. Why did he deny it before her when he had already. promised Sharon? 

“I only promised Mom because she was seriously ill.” 

“You still promised anyway!” Stella looked angry. 

Brian was about to say something when his phone rang. He picked it up, and his face fell. 

“Jessica’s been kidnapped. The kidnapper demands a ransom of 100 million dollars.” 

Stella was stunned. “Did Charlie kidnap Jessica?” 

“Yes,” Brian answered in a deep voice.
