Our Journey Back To Love

Chapter 112

Chapter 112

Brian fell silent at the mention of the child. He glanced at Stella. “Let’s go downstairs.”

“Aren’t you going to talk about the child?” Stella felt suspicious. She had started considering the possibility after Alfred brought it up this afternoon.

Brian sighed. “The child belongs to me.”

Three months ago, he had promised Jessica to acknowledge the child publicly.

Stella was stunned and unsure of what to say, She smiled bitterly.

“Are you sad?” Brian asked.

Stella smiled. “Not at all. After all, we are already divorced.”  S~ᴇaʀᴄh the FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“Don’t mention that in front of Grandpa,” Brian ordered.

Stella was puzzled. “Why?”

“My mother’s health has not been good lately. I don’t want to burden him any further,” Brian explained.

So that was the reason.

Stella nodded and walked to Alfred’s room with Brian.

Alfred was in his room, taking his medication with the butler handing him a glass of water.

Seeing him swallow a large handful of pills, Stella felt a pang of concern. It was heartbreaking to see him taking so much medication at once.

“Today, I called you both here to ask how your relationship is going.” Alfred drank some more water

before his gaze landed on them.

Stella felt exposed under his piercing gaze. She stiffened before Brian pulled her into his arms.

The faint scent of cedar flooded her nose. Brian smiled. “Grandpa, our relationship is going well. You don’t need to worry.”

“You’re not putting on a loving couple front while secretly divorced, are you?” Alfred’s gaze sharpened.

Brian smiled faintly. “How could that be? Stella and I will never divorce.

Stella’s brows twitched. Brian released her and walked over to Alfred, pointing at the chessboard. “You should move this piece next, Grandpa.”

Alfred looked at it and gasped. “You’re right.”

“Grandpa, let me play a game with you.” Brian sat opposite Alfred.

Alfred’s attention was drawn to the chessboard, and he stopped probing them. Stella quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Chany

Only Brian could handle–Alfred. If it were her, Alfred would have easily gotten everything out of her.

After winning two rounds of chess, Alfred’s mood lifted

“Go to sleep, and make me a great–grandchild as soon as possible.” Alfred shooed them away to the bedroom.

Brian and Stella left.

Stella went to the guest room when she heard Alfred’s voice from the hallway. “What’s going on? Are you two sleeping in separate rooms?”

Alfred poked his head out of his room.

Stella flushed bright red from being caught red–handed and turned to Brian.

Brian stood beside her and answered on her behalf, That’s not it. This is Stella’s study. She works here sometimes and just came to get something.”

“What are you getting?” Alfred followed them.

Stella looked horrified and glanced at Brian for help.

He calmly closed the door to the room, blocking Alfred, “Grandpa, Stella needs to get something private. It’s not something you should see,

“And what could it possibly be?” Alfred turned to Stella

Stella was at a loss for words. Yes, what private thing did she need to get?

Brian leaned close to Alfred and whispered into his ears, “Something to help with the baby–making.”

Alfred’s eyes widened. Stella also blushed. What was he talking about?

But Alfred finally stopped asking questions. He scratched his beard and instructed the butler, “Bruce, keep watch tonight and see if they sleep in the same room.”

Stella was flabbergasted. Alfred was urging them on!

Feeling helpless, Stella let Brian take her hand while he assured Alfred, “Grandpa, relax. We will definitely sleep in the same room.”
