“We’re already divorced,” she replied.
Brian looked at her. “Divorced or not, you’re still mine.”
His words were commanding, leaving no room for questions,
Stella was stunned. She couldn’t understand what he was thinking.
She wondered if his statement meant that he still had feelings for her.
Bernard’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts. ‘Brian, heed to talk to you. Come down.”
Bernard had driven into the courtyard and was calling from the first floor.
Brian’s expression darkened when he heard his voice. He let go of Stella. “Rest for now,”
Sensing the change in his mood, Stella feared something bad was about to happen. Stella clung to his
clothes. “What are you going to do?”
“Don’t worry about it. Just get some sleep.”
Brian pulled away from her grip and tucked her in before leaving.
With tears still in her eyes, she ignored the pain in her foot and hurried to the balcony.
Brian stepped out into the yard and landed a punch at Bernard’s face.
Caught off guard, Bernard staggered several steps backward. Blood filled his mouth.
Spitting out the blood, Bernard looked at Brian in disbelief. “Brian, why did you hit me?”
“Stay away from her from now on.” Brian stood in the yard with a cold look on his face. His demeanor radiated hostility.
Stella watched from upstairs.
It was rare for Brian to hit anyone, but he had hit Bernard because of her.
She was shaken.
She had never expected Brian to hit his own best friend. Joseph had said that Bernard had always looked up to Brian and would willingly follow him around like a loyal sidekick.
Bernard was like a little brother to him.
Bernard wiped the blood from his lips and turned to Bran. “Brian, aren’t you divorced? Jessica is carrying your child. You should treat her well and stop stringing both women along.”
That evening, Bernard had asked Jessica if the child was Brian’s, and she had confirmed it.
Bernard didn’t want Brian to be alone with Stella, so he came over. He just had an indescribable feeling inside of him.
Chapter 102
Brian grabbed Bernard’s throat and pulled him close. “That’s none of your business.”
He had always been a man of few words.
Stella saw what was happening on the balcony and was afraid that Brian would hurt Bernard badly. “Brian, let him go!” she shouted.
Brian looked at her coldly.
Bernard was surprised. He struggled to look at Stella while Brian held onto his neck tightly.
She stood in the night breeze with her feet on the ground. She looked anxiously in their direction.
He hadn’t expected her to speak up for him.
“Brian, if you don’t let go, I’m going to call the police,” Stella threatened, pulling out her cell phone.
If she couldn’t handle it, she would let the police handle it.
Brian sneered and suddenly released Bernard before going back inside.
Bernard was finally able to speak after being released He got up to go after Brian, but Brian had already. entered the house and slammed the door.
Bernard banged on the door. “Open the door!”
Brian ignored him and went upstairs with a grim expression on his face.
Fearing for Stella’s safety, Bernard ran back into the yard and yelled, “Brian’s gone upstairs. Lock the door: quickly, don’t let him hurt you!”
Stella’s eyes widened with fear. How had things come to this?
But she couldn’t wait any longer. She limped in pain to lock the door.
Brian had already reached the door.
Startled, Stella hurriedly closed it.
