Once Upon A Rejection

Chapter 49

After we finished eating dinner, the omega’s took away what was left of the food and brought in some bottles of whisky and glasses for everyone. I had a feeling that this was the council members’ favourite part of the evening because it was the only time since they arrived that I saw any of them smile genuinely.

The council members sipped on whisky and started to tell us stories about their lives before they became council members. Every one of them was the alpha of a pack before they joined the council. For some of them this followed the predictable path of finding their mate, taking over the pack and starting a family. Two of them however, followed a slightly different path and it was their stories which were more interesting to listen to.

We spend a couple of hours listening to their stories. It was interesting to hear about their lives but things only started to get really interesting when the lycan started talking. Lycan society is very different to werewolf society. Most lycans don’t live in packs, they tend to live in family groups either in the middle of nowhere or among humans.

According to lycan number two they used to live in large groups a bit like werewolf packs. Things started to change as their numbers dwindled, the communities started to lose their cohesiveness and break up. Now lycans only get together a few times a year for occasions and to meet their mates.

The lycan told us how he would have been the leader of his community if it still existed. He told us a bit about his family and the jobs that he had done over the years. He was only in his early thirties and yet he had already done so much in his life. It was a lot more interesting than anything the council members had to say.

‘We should get out of here.’ Grayson suggested through mindlink.

‘I am not sure.’ I replied.

‘Please. I know it is still early but I can think of a few things we can do together to pass the time.’ He mindlinked.

That was a tempting offer. As much as I was enjoying hearing what the lycan had to say, I knew that I would enjoy what Grayson had in mind a lot more.

‘Won’t it look rude if we just disappear?’ I asked him.

‘I am sure they won’t even notice, they only seemed to care about each other.’ Grayson said.

I wasn’t sure that I would go that far but I couldn’t deny that they didn’t seem to want to ask us about our lives. I nodded my head towards Grayson who must have been eagerly waiting for any kind of signal. Without hesitation he got out of his seat and started heading for the door. I followed quickly behind him.

“I can’t wait to get you out of that dress, it covers far too much of your beautiful body.” Grayson said as we approached our room.

Grayson’s mom had chosen out my dress for the party. She had chosen a floor length dress with three-quarter length sleeves and a high neckline. I didn’t normally dress like this but his mom told me that the council members had old fashioned views on how a woman should look and act. She thought that going along with their ideas would make them more likely to approve Grayson’s request.

Grayson kissed my neck as I opened the door to our room. I could always feel myself getting aroused as he ran his hand over my h**s. I could feel his e******n pressing into me.

“I agree, I can’t wait to see you out of those clothes.” Talen said, making me freeze from shock.

“What the heck are you doing in my room?” I shouted.

Talen was lying down in mine and Grayson’s bed as though he belonged there. He was laid on his back with his hands resting behind his head, the covers were pulled up to just above his waist. He was topless.

‘I want to run my tongue all over that chest.’ Scarlett purred.

“Don’t you mean our room, we are mates after all.” Talen said.

“I haven’t accepted you and this isn’t the way to get me to fall in love with you.” I said.

“So there is a way to get you to fall in love with me then. What would that be?” Talen asked. Grayson was standing behind me with his arms around my waist, I could hear him giggling.

“That is not what I meant. Can you just get out of our bed?” I said, having him in my bed was making me feel uncomfortable. Did he really expect me to get in bed with him? We don’t even know each other.

“I am not sure you want that.” Talen said.

“I am sure, just get out of my bed.” I shouted.

“Ok, as you wish.” He said.

He threw back the covers and stepped out of bed, he was completely naked. I would give him one thing, he had an amazing body. I couldn’t see his figure properly earlier underneath his suit, I was surprised by just how big his muscles were. I had expected him to be more slender because he was so tall but I was wrong, he had a similar body type to Grayson.

“Do you like what you see?” Talen asked.

“No, of course not. Why would you say that?” I asked.

‘Liar.’ Scarlett said.

I could feel myself starting to blush. I really could have done without getting caught checking Talen out. Now he would never believe me when I said that I didn’t want to be with him.

“You were looking at me as though I was made of cake.” Talen said, smiling at me.

“I know she likes what she can see, I can smell her arousal.” Grayson said.

‘Traitor.’ I said to Grayson over mindlink.

“Can you just put some clothes on and leave. This is really distracting.” I complained.

Talen’s smile broadened. He made no moves to put any clothes on, instead he started walking towards me. I could see the l**t in his eyes as he looked at me. I tried to take a step back but I forgot completely that Grayson was standing directly behind me and I crashed into him.

“What are you doing?” I said, even to my own ears I sounded flustered.

“What does it look like?” Talen said, slowly walking towards me.

“I don’t know but you need to leave, now.” I said. I tried to sound authoritative but my voice was shaking.

‘Don’t push my mate away.’ Scarlett whimpered.

“I am not going anywhere. My place is by your side.” He said.

“Grayson, tell him he needs to leave.” I said. Ok, now I just sound desperate. Grayson started kissing my neck as Talen approached me from the front.

“Please stop.” I whimpered.

“If you agree to let me stay with you then I will put my clothes back on.” Talen said.

That was sneaky of him. Was this his plan all along? To get me flustered so that I would agree to let him stay in mine and Grayson’s room, in our bed. Well I wasn’t going to give him what he wanted.

“You can stay here tonight but you are not sharing a bed with us.” I said.

I knew that I wasn’t strong enough to make him leave by force. Maybe if I compromised on a few things then I could keep some distance while not making any enemies.

“Where do you want me to sleep?” He asked.

“Wherever you want as long as it isn’t in the bed.” I said.

I knew that if I let him in the bed with me then I would wake up to him holding me. My lycan would love that but it would only mess with my head. I needed to keep my head clear until I worked out what I was going to do about him.

“I will get one of the omegas to bring something for you to sleep on.” Grayson said.

A few minutes later a couple of omegas knocked on the door. They were carrying a futon and some bedding. They brought them into the room and started to get them set up next to the bed. If it was up to me then I would have had him at the other side of the room from our bed. In future I would have to be more specific when I was talking to him otherwise I would end up getting into trouble. Not that I was going to let this happen again, this was strictly a one night thing.
