Not His Type Of Mate

Chapter 103

Lord Maddison POV

I tried calling back, but the phone was switched off. Fear and anger gripped me. I was scared of his words and threats to harm Nora, and I felt angry at myself for not being able to do something.

The door opened, and Leo walked in with his seer. "Please, see what you can do," I pleaded, and she nodded before sitting on the floor. With panic, I watched her recite some incantations while Leo and I remained silent, waiting for her to speak. After a few minutes, she finally spoke. "She was kidnapped through a teleporting system."

"By whom?" I asked, and saw the seer go silent for a moment before speaking. "By your first mate ex-lover," she announced, causing me to furrow my brow in confusion. "What?" I asked, utterly bewildered.

"Yes, Lord Madison. He blames you for her death and has been looking for a way to make you pay," she explained, and I scoffed bitterly. "This is ridiculous. How can anyone blame me for such a tragedy?" I yelled with a mix of anger and pain while running my fingers through my already disheveled hair.

"Who is this bastard, and where can I find him?" Leo, who had been quiet, spoke up.

"That's the problem, Alpha. He is using a spell that is preventing me from seeing his location," the seer announced, and I groaned in frustration.

"So?" Leo asked, seemingly unfazed by the seer's words.

"You two will have to search for him through other means, but you won't be able to locate him using magic," she explained.

"Damn it!" I groaned and paced around, my fingers still tangled in my hair. "Can you at least tell us the town or country where she is?" Leo asked, but the seer shook her head. "There is nothing. I can't see anything, and other seers will face the same obstacle," she said, causing panic to fill my entire being.

We don't even know where she is, so how can we find her? And before we do, he might harm her further.

"Thank you. I'll come see you later," Leo said, and the seer bowed and left.

"I'll seek out another seer. This woman's spell is weak," I said, determined to find an alternative, but Leo sighed and turned to face me. "Don't you dare disrespect her, Maddison. Go anywhere else, and you'll get the same result," he spoke firmly, and then he tried to leave, but I blocked his path, my intense gaze holding his.

"What is the meaning of this?" he asked, but I didn't give him a response. Instead, I continued to stare at him suspiciously.

"She was here with you, and now she's gone. What makes you think I won't believe you have a hand in this?" I asked, and saw Leo's eyes flicker with anger, but that didn't stop me from pressing on. "You always wanted her, and now that you see you've lost, you want to lock her up and have..." My words were cut short when Leo grabbed the collar of my shirt and slammed me back against the wall.

Leo's grip tightened on my shirt collar as he pinned me against the wall. His eyes blazed with anger, and I could feel the weight of his anger pressing against me.

"How dare you accuse me of such a silly act?" Leo growled through gritted teeth. "She is my mate, and I love her. I would never harm her, Maddison, and you know it."

I struggled to catch my breath, the force of his hold making it difficult to speak. Doubt and suspicion clouded my mind, and I couldn't help but question everything in this desperate situation. Nora's disappearance had thrown me into chaos, and the overwhelming emotions were pushing me to my limits.

Leo's grip slowly loosened, but the anger in his eyes remained. He released me and took a step back, his breathing heavy with the tension between us. "We need to find her," he said, his voice laced with determination and anger. "Pointing fingers at each other won't solve anything." With that, he turned and left the library, while I kicked a stool and paced around the room, frustrated at my helplessness.

"Get a search team," my wolf suggested, and I agreed with him. But where would they start from when she was taken through a teleporting system, leaving no clue or trace?

The door opened, and a guard walked in. "We've found Nora's bag, it's downstairs," he announced, and I quickly left the library and stormed down the stairs.

When I got downstairs, I saw the bag in the hands of Leo, who was examining it. "What did you find?" I asked.

"Phone, ID cards, and personal belongings," Leo responded and gave the bag to me. "The bag was found just four blocks away from the mansion, and according to my men, a coffee shop was opposite the exact place the bag was picked. Which means the man was at the coffee shop." Leo said, and I hummed.

This was one thing about Leo - he was incredibly intelligent.

"Do you know her ex-lover?" he asked, and I shook my head. "I only knew she had one before we met, but I didn't meet him," I responded, and Leo nodded.

I watched Leo take out his phone from his pocket and began going through it, while I just stood, wondering what he was doing.

He kept scrolling down his phone while I stood and watched, until I saw him take a deep breath.

"Here he is," he announced and gave the phone to me. With a furrowed brow, I looked into the phone and realized this was Gracie's Instagram page. In the picture before me was a man who should be in his early thirties. The post was a birthday post she posted two years ago, two months before her death.

I stared at the picture and then back at Leo. "How sure are you that it's him?" I asked, and Leo scoffed. "Read the caption," he said, and I went down to read it.

"Happy birthday my dear Lorenzo, a man with an incredible gift of teleporting. I wish you love and success."

As I read the words, a mixture of emotions flooded through me. Disbelief, anger, and a deep sense of betrayal all swirled within me. If she could wish him a happy birthday when she's still with me, does that mean they had something going on?

I clenched my fist tightly, trying to control the surge of anger within me. "How could he twist her tragic death into something that's my fault?" I exclaimed, my voice filled with a mix of frustration and disbelief. "He's delusional!"

"We need to gather more information about him," Leo said, his tone resolute. "We have to find out his whereabouts, his connections, anything that can lead us to him. We can't rely solely on magic or seers. We'll have to dig deeper."

I nodded in agreement. "I have my contacts. I'll reach out to them discreetly. We'll find him, no matter where he's hiding." Leo spoke and walked out on me while I kept staring at the picture on the phone, thinking where I have actually met him. Then realization struck me. Gracie had lied and introduced him once to me as a distant cousin of hers.

"Shit!"
