Chapter 1178 The Heaven Devouring Beast
"Never mind. Let's wait and see," Darren said as he watched the old fiend disappear into thin air.
He turned to his companions and gestured for them to follow him. They walked forward and stepped onto the emerald green plain ahead of them.
After wandering aimlessly in the open space for a while, they decided to stay still. After all, they had been tricked and there could be more to come if they got too curious. So, they sat and began to cultivate. Time flew, especially when one was cultivating. They simply had no concept of time.
To Darren, it felt like three years had passed in an instant.
"Master." The voice echoed in Darren's head for a few moments before he opened his eyes and saw Carlisle in front of him.
"What's up?" Darren asked as he stretched his limbs. The blade and sword aura in his eyes was much stronger than before.
"It's not a good idea for us to continue to stay here. It's far too dangerous. We need to move."
"But this place is perfect for cultivating. No one will disturb us," Darren countered, remaining seated.
Carlisle smiled bitterly down at him. "Master, despite it being barren here, it's still the territory of the fiend race. The fiendish aura here is too thick for humans."
Darren's eyes widened slightly. He decided to extend his god's sense to check his companions. It made him realize that their auras were in a state of disorder, and there was fiendish aura rushing in their bodies.
Darren cast an apologetic look at Carlisle and said, "Sorry. I forgot that you can't adapt to the fiendish aura."
"Actually, we can bear the pain of the fiendish aura. The thing is that the fiendish aura can absorb our god's power, so our strength is gradually weakening every second that we spend here," Carlisle told him. There were many crease lines forming on his forehead.
"Let's go a little further. Maybe we can find a way out," Darren suggested.
"That's great." The others had already thought about it before, but it was inconvenient for them to disturb Darren who was immersed in cultivation, so they waited to mention it until now.
Without further ado, Darren and his companions chose a direction and flew out of the field together.
After flying for a few days, they could spot the dark outlines of mountains in the distance. They lowered and prepared to land.
"Is it the end?"
Darren landed on the peak of a mountain and looked into the distance. The darkness he could see beyond the mountains appeared to be a high wall.
"Oh no! This is an artificial space. Without the secret skill, we can't go out," Carlisle said as he landed next to Darren.
Darren's face fell. He didn't know what to do. They had gone all over, and there appeared to be no way out.
"I think the wall is moving," someone said suddenly, pointing at the top of it.
"Are you sure?"
"It seems to be moving," Carlisle confirmed.
Drip. Drip.
Just then, a lot of warm liquid began to fall from the sky like rain.
"Gross! It smells. What's this?"
Before they could do anything, the sky above them was engulfed in darkness.
"Oh no. Run!"
Carlisle looked all around them for a way out but the darkness was too large. They would never outrun it.
Whir. Whir.
Winds wrapped around them and swept them up, drawing them up into the sky.
"Is it..."
"It's a beast! It's a beast eating us!"
"Yes! That's what I was worried about. It must be a Heaven Devouring Beast. There is a Heaven Devouring Beast here! This is too bad," Carlisle sighed helplessly. "What is a Heaven Devouring Beast? It's so huge!" Darren asked, squinting up at it.
"It can take up all of the space. It is said that this beast can even swallow up the stars. But everything that is devoured by the beast will turn into nothingness." "Then we..."
Before Darren could finish his words, something splashed against him so hard that he groaned audibly. A sharp pain spread through his abdomen.
The smelly, green liquid wrapped around several people and slid down a scarlet channel, which was the throat of the Heaven Devouring Beast. It was only after they had slid down tens of thousands of feet that they landed in a sea of green mucus.
"Master, you must use god's power to protect yourself."
They were now in the stomach of the beast. The green mucus was extremely corrosive. Once the body was exposed to it, the skin would melt away until all that was left was bone. Eventually, even the bones would disappear.
Darren hurriedly gathered the god-level blade and sword intents to form an airtight protective shield around his body. The green liquid was even able to corrode god's power, meaning that Darren could not let his power slip for even a moment. It was exhausting.
The rest of the group also used their god's power to resist the green liquid, but their power was still suppressed by the fiendish aura, so they couldn't protect themselves for very long.
After floating for a while, the stomach acid turned turbulent. And even though they fought through them, the waves beat them back, making it even more difficult for them to protect themselves from being corroded.
If this continued, they would be gone in less than two hours.
"Master, let's fight together and see if we can get through his stomach and get out of here."
With that, Carlisle summoned all his god's power and withdrew his arm, bringing it back around and delivering a punch to the bloody, wrinkled stomach wall.
But unfortunately, as soon as his mighty power made contact with the stomach wall, it dissipated without even a trace. They would have to think of another way out because none of them were strong enough to break through the stomach.
"We can go lower and try to break out from his intestine!" Carlisle shouted over the sound of splashing and gurgling stomach acid.
It sounded like a disgusting idea but they had no other choice. They couldn't afford to waste any more time.
Darren and his companions gathered all of their god's power and dove. They swam straight for a small black hole and stopped just in front of it. Darren held up a hand.
"Be careful or we will be corroded," Darren warned them as he watched the black hole open and close repeatedly.
"This beast is definitely a newborn baby. If not, we would have already been eliminated."
An adult Heaven Devouring Beast could even devour the stars.
After a long time spent swimming, Darren and his companions reached the end of a long tunnel, but they were blocked by a lot of hard stones, so they couldn't move forward at all.
"Oh my God! There is no way to go! We are all going to die!"
They began grabbing at the walls of the intestines and pushing but there was nowhere to go.
All of them felt hopeless. The four men had been in prison for so many years before they met a Defiant Master, a man who was likely to rule the world. When that had happened, they once again had the desire to live.
However, before the Defiant Master could become a powerful warrior, he would be killed, which made them feel very disappointed.
"Don't give up. As long as we are alive, there is hope!"
"Ha-ha." Someone smiled a bitter smile and added, "You are so optimistic, master. But if we die, it's not such a bad thing. After all, we will be free then."
Darren looked at them strangely and said, "I said there was hope. I was not consoling you. Look!"
They looked in the direction Darren had pointed. There was nothing to see in the intestinal wall but surging blood.
"Master, what do you mean?" Even Carlisle searched with his eyes but couldn't understand what Darren had meant. "Feel the aura of the blood," Darren said.
All of them felt it and then Carlisle's face lit up.
