My Wife Wants a Divorce by Red Little Fruit

Chapter 997 Do It Myself

Sydney pressed her glabella, slightly closed her eyes, and said, "I naturally thought of this, so I don't want to mortgage this building."

"That's good." Luke nodded and got worried again. "Then what are you going to mortgage?"

Sydney opened her eyes and answered slowly, "The Raines family's villa."

Luke was slightly stunned. "You're going to..."

"Yeah." Sydney nodded.

"But that villa was left behind by your mom. Can you bear to do so?" Luke looked at her.

Sydney tucked her hair behind her ear. "Honestly, at first I couldn't, but now I think it's okay. That villa was indeed left behind by my mom and was filled with the memories of my formative years, but some disgusting guys also lived there."

As she said that, her eyes narrowed with a hint of hatred.

Luke captured it and understood what Sydney meant, sighing with pity, "Madeline and Kaylie."

"Yes." Sydney gripped the pen. "That villa was originally the coziest home for me and my parents, but in the end, it was defiled by Kaylie and Madeline. That was why I chose to live in Shallow Bay rather than there. There is no trace of my mother in that villa. There are only the disgusting scents left by Kaylie and Madeline."

"That's right." Luke picked up the glass of water in front of him and took a sip. "If it were me, I'd be disgusted too, and I'm afraid I'd have sold the villa long ago. Out of sight, out of mind. How could you keep it for so long?"

Sydney gave a self-deprecating smile. "I keep it just because it was bought by my mom and was once the home of me and my parents. That's all. Yet now I feel I was wrong. That villa had been dirtied long ago. If my mom were alive, she might not want to keep it either."

"Definitely." Luke looked at her and nodded repeatedly. "Your mom loved you so much, so she left the villa to you after she passed away, but she didn't expect that Kaylie and Madeline would live in the villa, bully you, and even poison your father. How could your mother want to keep that villa if she were alive? I support you to mortgage the villa. After all, that is not the villa before. It's good to mortgage it. In the future, you won't need to think about it."

"Yeah," Sydney answered softly.

Luke asked, "By the way, have you had the value of the villa appraised?"

Sydney picked up the cup of coffee in front of her and took a sip. "Yes, in the past two days, I've contacted a professional appraiser to have the villa appraised. Although the villa is old, like this building, its location is very good. Plus, after purchasing the land, my mother used my grandfather's connections to hire the most famous building designer, so this villa is valuable. It is worth at least 1 hundred million dollars."

She held up a finger.

Luke smiled, "That's great. It's more than enough to help you get through this situation, but have you made an appointment with the bank?"

"Yes, I'll go there this afternoon to go through the mortgage formalities." Sydney put down her coffee cup.

"Then I'll go with you. It's better than going alone." Luke glanced at his watch.

Sydney shrugged. "I'm fine with that, yet I heard from your mom that the Chase Corporation was going to transform, so aren't you very busy recently? Do you have time?"

"It's almost done. I'm even ready for the New Year's Day," Luke smiled smugly.

"Okay then, let's go together." Sydney had no reason to object. She suddenly remembered something and looked at Luke. "By the way, my assistant just said that you were stopped by Stephen downstairs. What happened? What did he stop you for?"

As he heard this, Luke's expression suddenly became ugly. He put the coffee cup on the table with a thud and complained, "He was crazy. As soon as he saw me, he dragged me to his office and said something inexplicable. At first, I did not quite understand what he said. Later, I realized that he was trying to divide you and me."

"Divide you and me?" Sydney's face showed a flash of surprise, and then it darkened.

Luke replied, "Yes. I didn't want to listen, so I just walked away."

Sydney frowned tightly and didn't say anything, apparently unable to figure out what Stephen was up to.

Luke was not working for Skylight. He was just a nominal director of Skylight, not at all involved in Skylight's management and business.

So Luke's existence would not threaten Stephen.

Sydney wondered, 'Why did Stephen want to divide Luke and me?

'What trick is Stephen playing?'

"Syd, what are you thinking?" Luke waved his hand in front of Sydney's face.

Sydney blinked, coming out of her trance. She shook her head slightly and smiled, "I am just thinking about Stephen's reasons for doing that."

Luke twisted his mouth. "What's the point of thinking this? Stephen has always disliked us, and we dislike him too, so no matter what he does, eventually, we are going to fight with him. Thus, there is no need to think about what he is doing. Let's just fight with him."

Sydney laughed, "Yes, you're right. Since the results won't change, there is really no need to think about the process. Just wait for the results. You're smart. If you had not pointed it out, I would think a lot and get annoyed."

"Yeah, I'm just so smart." Luke raised an eyebrow at her frivolously.

Sydney lowered her head and smiled, suddenly becoming much more relaxed.

The way she and Luke got on now made Sydney feel like they had gone back to the past.

Today, Luke was no different from his past self.

If this continued, it would be best.

Meanwhile, Julien walked out of a dark room with a frosty face. Zach followed him with the same expression.

"Mr. Flint, here's the handkerchief." Zach soaked a handkerchief and handed it to Julien with both hands.

Julien stopped, turned slightly, took the handkerchief, lowered his head to wipe his hands, and continued on his way.

Behind him, Zach was also wiping his hands with a handkerchief. He said disgustedly, "That old guy is really stubborn. He actually resisted until we used pincers. We underestimated him, but Mr. Flint, you should have let me pull his teeth. Why did you have to do it yourself?"

Hearing this, Julien, who was walking ahead, threw the handkerchief, stepped on it, and said in a cold voice, "It was related to my beloved woman. Of course, I had to do it myself."

The words "my beloved woman" instantly made Zach speechless, and he wanted to slap himself in the face.
