My Wife Wants a Divorce by Red Little Fruit

Chapter 1093 Greta Was Suffering

"Mr. Braun once turned down Julien's offer," Sydney reminded.

Officer Miles remembered. "Yup. That's what we're talking about."

"Actually, I have a question." Sydney frowned.

Officer Miles gestured for her to continue. "Ms. Raines, what's the question?"

"I'm confused. You guys said that Reginald is a crappy lawyer, but from what you said, he's won almost every case he's represented in, except for the ones he's lost on purpose. That's because his employer offended him and he lost on purpose. He's a good lawyer, isn't he? Why do you say he's a crappy lawyer?"

Officer Miles didn't answer the question right away but looked at Julien.

Julien nodded at him. Then Miles explained, "Since Mr. Flint allowed me to tell it, I'll be honest. It is simple. Although Reginald majored in law and he is licensed to practice law, he is not skilled in the law. He is not as well versed in the terms of the law as other lawyers, but he is an excellent debater."

"Really?" Sydney raised her eyebrows.

Officer Miles smiled. "When Reginald goes to court to represent a case, he doesn't argue like other lawyers do using the expertise of a lawyer, but instead he uses techniques to provoke the other side to say or do something they are not supposed to. And then he'll win the lawsuit. He's like one of those sales champions."

"I see." Sydney clapped her hands. "He's a lawyer, but he doesn't fight the lawsuit in an unusual way but uses some tricks. Is it like that?"

"Yes." Officer Miles responded.

Sydney nodded. "Even though he doesn't excel in the legal profession, he's good at lawsuits. Sounds like he's a genius. He's won so many lawsuits. No wonder so many people hire him."

"Aye. I guess Mr. Flint wanted Greta to be sentenced to more years in prison, so he went to Reginald, "Officer Miles looked at Julien when he said this.

Sydney turned to Julien as well.

Julien curled up the corner of his mouth. He didn't say anything. Officer Miles should have guessed right.

That was Julien's intention.

"Ms. Raines, do you guys want to see Greta? "Officer Miles closed his laptop and asked.

Sydney looked at Julien. "Do you want to see her?"

Julien frowned. He stared at Sydney in confusion. "You want me to go see her?"

Sydney rolled her eyes at him. "I'm asking you to see the prisoner, not your ex-girlfriend."

"No, I don't want to go." Julien grunted, "I'm not interested in any other woman but you." Sydney was touched but amused.

"Fine. Wait here for me, I'll go check on her." Then Sydney stood up.

Julien took her by the wrist and frowned as he asked, "Why are you bothering to go see her? She may hurt you."

Officer Miles stood up as well. He looked at Julien, a wry look in his eyes. "Mr. Flint, she's locked up. She can't hurt Ms. Raines. Don't worry. Ms. Raines won't get hurt." He believed Julien should have more faith in their security.

Julien knew Sydney wouldn't be hurt by Greta, but he didn't want Sydney to see Greta.

He didn't see the need to see Greta.

"Officer Miles is right. I won't get hurt. Don't worry. I'll be back soon." Sydney tapped Julien on the shoulder, indicating him to let go of her wrist.

Sensing Sydney was determined to go, Julien released her. "Come back soon."

"Okay." Sydney smiled.

Soon, Sydney and Officer Miles arrive at the holding cell.

As they reach the door, they hear a woman screaming in pain.

Sydney stopped and asked, "What's going on?"

It was Greta's voice.

She sounded miserable.

'She must be in pain. Did they do something to her?'

Sydney turned to Officer Miles.

Officer Miles immediately understood Sydney's concern, and he hurriedly explained,

"Ms. Raines, don't misunderstand. No one does anything to her. She's been like this for days."

"She's been like this for days?" Sydney's eyes twinkled. "What's going on?"

"The doctor said it's because of her leg."

"Her leg?"

"Yes." Officer Miles nodded. "We found her screaming like this the day after you and Mr. Flint left. We thought she was faking it away from the sentence, but she looked too pale to fake it, so we took her to the hospital. The doctor said it was the aftermath of the augmentation surgery she had."

"Aftermath of the augmentation surgery." Sydney muttered.

Officer Miles straightened his cap. "The doctor said she had artificial bone grafted into her leg to increase her height. It is a new material that is not widely used. The material can cause rejection of the body. Greta stopped taking the anti-rejection medication for a long time, so she's in a lot of pain."

Sydney nodded as she listened to Officer Miles' explanation. "I see. Does she need to be taken to a hospital for treatment?"

"Dr. Finn said it was not necessary." Officer Miles replied.

"Dr. Finn? "Sydney raised her eyebrows. A strange feeling came over her.

"Officer Miles, are you talking about Finn James? He wears a pair of glasses. He looks handsome but cold." Sydney asked.

Officer Miles nodded. "Yes, that's him. Dr. Finn looks indifferent and aloof. I feel weird about him."

"Why?"

"I don't know. But I believe Dr. Finn doesn't look like a normal person." Officer Miles replied.

'Really, Officer Miles has such sharp instinct. How could he tell that Finn isn't a normal person?' Sydney wondered in her mind.

But since Finn was her friend, she explained with a smile, "Maybe because he's a doctor and has seen so many patients die, he's become apathetic." "You have a point." Officer Miles agreed.

'Why else would an apathetic person be a doctor?'
